We have just returned from McHugh Manor. The home is a great place to stay for winter fun, about 20 mins from Holiday Valley, a great snow resort where we spent many hours whilst the snow boarders and skiers amongst us had a blast. The house is perfectly situated for walking, especially at night along the snowy lanes. The town of Ellicotville is also 20 mins away, a very pretty little place with some lovely little curiosity shops plus the more practical shops, nice restaurants and coffee shops. The house offers great accommodation, a large garden (like 40 acres!) for you to explore, we had a good snow storm while we were there so had some lovely snowy hikes. Unfortunately the house is not as clean as we were led to believe, the TV room would be a great set up but there was a very horrible strong smell of urine all the time, over whelming on some occasions, the carpet smelt of dogs and the carpet had lots of dog hair on it. The kitchen needed a very good clean and before we started preparing meals we took the time to wash down kitchen cabinets as they had sticky dust and grime on them. The oven had been cleaned but was covered in the grey burn dust, that had to be wiped round before we could prepare dinner. There was not enough bedding for the extras that we had. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs which, apart from being very dusty, were fine but we were also told that the various sofa beds were usable, well they would be if we had had blankets for them, we had to keep the fire stoked as two of our party had to sleep in the TV room - there were only 3 small blankets measuring around 4 feet square, the two of them wore their 'onesies' to bed for extra warmth, we also had to improvise for pillows as there weren't enough of them. All in all McHugh Manor is a good place to stay, but we felt that standards could be higher on the cleanliness side of things.

Jan we had a great time at your home this weekend. The house had lots of room for us and more. The beds were comfy, lots of towels, soap, & even toilet paper, it had all the necessities. We did'nt have to worry about a thing. The kitchen fully equipt, right down to the spices. I have to admit when I drove up and down those hills to the home the first couple times I was alittle worried, but once you do it, Its not bad at all. Just not use to driving in the hills.. Piece of Cake after that. We woke up to a Winter Wonderland Saturday Morning. Absulutely Beautifu!!! We had a big surprise when my son and his girl friend returned to the house from the ski hills Friday Night with big grins and announced their engagement. Made our Great Weekend Super Special!!!. Jan is a great person to deal with and very accommodating. We only encountered one down fall and that was the neighbours dog who liked to bark all night. Something that probably can'nt be helped ,all part of Country Living. We had another dog who came to visit us everyday, we loved him, (He was not the barker) Jan thanks for letting up rent your house, we'll see it we can make it back next year (we have a Wedding to plan. LOL ) Thanks again DEB

This would be a beautiful property for pond skating, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing. We regrettably did not have enough snow or cold temps for these activities, but we did venture out through the mud to the 2nd and 3rd ponds which were beautiful!! At night the place is very quiet apart from the cows. The roads to get there might be a challenge if there was a fresh snow fall which we also did not have. Lots of room for 2 families of 4 for a 4 night stay. About 20 minutes from down hill skiing where we did find manmade snow to enjoy our winter vacation.
