This list will not do justice to all the activities and attractions in this area. The local chambers of commerce have a wealth of the same, as well as knowledgeable and friendly personnel who love to share information about their special corner of paradise. Of course, you can also research the towns and general area on the Internet.
Hiking galore, including the Appalachian and the Benton MacKaye
Fishing, boating, Jet Skiing, tubing, whitewater rafting--Lake Blue Ridge, Toccoa River, Ocoee River
Horseback riding, golf, mountain biking, gem and gold panning
Antiquing--Blue Ridge has been called the antique capital of GA, and Ellijay, with its charming roundabout (instead of the typical courthouse square), has its share, too
Swan Drive-In Theater, one of the few remaining today, operating since 1955
Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, on which you can take a narrated ride from Blue Ridge to the twin cities of McKaysville GA and Copperhill TN and stand with one foot in GA and one in TN--marked with a big blue line painted through the IGA Grocery parking lot
Apple businesses where you can view the process from orchard to grocery bag, tour the facilities, shop for apple-themed goods and goodies, and try one of the area's delights: the fried pie! Ellijay is known as the apple capital of GA
Wonderful local restaurants--just a few: the Toccoa Riverside, where on weekend nights a duet of two elderly, overall-clad bluegrass pickers entertain; the Pink Pig in Cherry Log, President Jimmy Carter's favorite BBQ joint; Colonel Poole's BBQ in Ellijay, where the hillside is decorated with a giant outline of a pig compiled of hundreds of plywood pigs naming past patrons (some celebrities), and our favorite italian place, Charlies in Ellijay.
Festivals throughout the year: for example, Apple Festival, Sorghum Festival, Prater's Mill Festival, GA Mountain Fair (demonstrations of old-timey mountain practices), Rhododendron Festival, Bluegrass Festival, Dahlonega's Gold Rush Days
Numerous state parks, national parks, and national forests, each with its own amenities, activities, and gorgeous scenery
Marked scenic drives/highways, almost all with scenic pull-overs and overlooks, especially important during our gorgeous autumn "leaf-gawking" season
Countless waterfalls, one of which (Amicalola) is the tallest cascading falls east of the Mississippi; in the cabin are a pamphlets with descriptions and directions to 11 falls in the area--all of which we've hiked to--only a couple are strenous treks
Just a few miles from the cabin is the longest suspension bridge east of the Mississippi, a very short and easy hike brings you to where it crosses the Toccoa River
A little further away is Tallulah Falls and Gorge, the deepest gorge east of the Mississippi(notice a pattern here?)--we've hiked to the bottom of it, and it is strenuous, but magnificent
Many other sights within a short drive, such as Brasstown Bald, the highest point in GA, Dahlonega's Gold Museum, the Alpine town of Helen
Also available in-cabin are such services as massage and gourmet chef

Best Thanksgiving Family ReUnion
December 9, 2012
This was the BEST family Thanksgivng (2012) ever. There was something for everyone. My sister and I took my mom (81yrs.), and her two teen daughters (15 & 13) and our family dog. The entire cabin and grounds were handicapped accessible for my mom. She had a walk in shower in the master bath, the grounds were level were she could walk, and she didn't have to climb any stairs to get around. The two teens had 100's of video's and games to watch. The dog was able to run without a leash and the mountains provided a natural barrier so we didn't have to worry about him running to far. We had a campfire every night and toasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Our nights were cool which made the hot tub even that much more enjoyable. We LOVED Amicola Falls, and there is a handicapped paved path to the bottom of the falls. Our favorite "DO NOT MISS" was visiting the town of Helen. It was a 1 hour drive, but worth it. The town of Helen is an authentic Alpine Village in the middle of the Blue Ridge. Ron and Alley were great hosts. It was an authetic wood cabin. Everyone had a great time. We all just loved it.
Owner Supplied Testimonials
A warm and cozy cabin (very beautiful) a piece of heaven right here in Ellijay, Georgia. Hope to be a regular guest and will definitely bring the family. Perfect vacation! We loved it!

I am almost too relaxed to write this. We've been searching for almost twenty years for the perfect cabin and this is it. The view, hot tub, yard for the doggies, the fire pit. The BED, OH MY GOD, THE BED!!! It's a lovely home in an amazing area. Thank you so much for sharing it. We celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary with a red wine toast by the hot tub, speaking of how blessed we are. We really loved how secluded the cabin is, yet incredibly close to stores, antiques, breathtaking nature and great food. We did a lot of cooking and had every tool we needed (That's a first!) I felt like the classiest redneck watching the Nascar race through the bedroom window from the hot tub :-)
What an incredible vacation, WE WILL BE BACK! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The cabin was gorgeous, the decor was cozy, and everything was sparkling clean! Directions were very accurate and we had no problems finding the cabin. The photos can not possibly meet the beauty of the views from the front porch. The beds were so comfortable, I didn't want to get up! I would recommend this property to anyone, not just friends and family. The only criticism I had is that there is not enough cooking essentials provided. For instance, there is a coffee maker but no coffee. We brought our own, so no big deal. I will definitely remember to bring all the essentials next time I visit. And there will definitely be a next time!
Just wanted to say "Thank You" for the weekend at your cottage (I really like the new name: "Bearadise"). Once again, we had to cut it a bit short for family obligations, but we still got 3 nights of relaxation and peace - and it was heaven. My wife (Nancy) has been sleep-deprived for 2 months helping with a new grandbaby born 2 months too early and at NICU at MCG since September. She slept for over 12 hours every night! Just what she needed. We took long walks, read good books and grilled a couple of steaks one night. It's been ages since we've had a chance to do that. God bless you, my friend. Your place is terrific and your attention to detail is over the top.
All my best,
Jay & Nancy D.
Given us the refreshing that we really needed!
This trip was so wonderful for us as a couple. It was a chance to re-connect & let the cares of the world GO! Bearadise was so relaxing and we enjoyed the wonderful nature! Just sitting out on the porch in the rocking chair with a cup of coffee and listening to all that God has created has given us a refreshing that we really needed. We love it so much we are planning again for our next visit. Thank you so much for this lovely secluded place. The house was immaculate... so hats off to the housekeeper. Thank you for the time & this place. BTW- The hot tub was WONDERFUL (ask my husband) :-)

What Wonder Memories!
We sooo enjoyed our family trip to Bearadise. The trees were beginning to change; the weather was fabulous. We visited downtown Ellijay, downtown Blueridge and the B.J. Reece Orchard. What wonderful Memories!
Ladies getaway in Bearadise
We six femailes had a great time at "Bearadise". (Great-Grandmother, Grandmother, Daughter & Granddaughters + Ginger the Chihuahua). We have enjoyed the nature surrounding Bearadise - The deer, turtle, squirrels, lizards, hummingbirds & a pheasant with her young. We took a day to Ellijay and Blueridge but hurried back to to Bearadise to relax and roast hot dogs & Marshmallows and to take a soak in the hot tub. Thanks to the family that has shared Bearadise with us.
Four Generations Getaway
Honeymoon in Bearadise
My husband and I loved the beautiful cabin and mountain view. This was our honeymoon and we loved spending our time together in the mountains. The hot tub was so fun and everything was wonderful. We plan on coming back for one of our anniversary celebrations. We loved it!

HAD A GREAT TIME IN BEARADISE!
This is our fifth trip to the North Georgia Mountains. We usually stay in Coosawattee River Resort but have always felt like it as too much of a subdivision feel. So, we took a chance and rented through Ron & Alley. The cabin was spotless and so clean we felt like we were the first ones to come visit! This cabin had everything we needed and wanted for a mountain getaway. In addition, we loved all of there decorations and furnishings. The pictures online were exactly as the cabin was. We had some minor items that we had to call Alley on (all of which were our fault) and she immediately handled our concerns. We were blown away at the excellent level of service! We would definitely recommend your cabin to others and stay again when we are in the area. Thank you, Ron & Alley!!!

About:My wife Alley and I have owned Bearadise Retreat for four years. The first year was spent remodeling and making it into the cabin that we dreamed it could be. The next two years we spent as much time in the mountains as we possibly could enjoying the fruits of our labor. Then in June of 2012 we decided...
