Last summer was near perfect for the Embden area. Here's hoping that history will repeat! Now accepting bookings for 2015 Summer Season! Make plans for an affordable, fun vacation!

Gorgeous lake house on Maine's best kept secret: Embden Lake. House and deck overlook a broad expanse on this pristine lake. If you can't find relaxation here, you will never find it anywhere.

This three bedroom house has a queen bed master bedroom where you awake to the beautiful lake right at your window. A second queen bed guest room also has a view of the water, and there are 2 twins in the upstairs loft. We also offer a very popular day bed spot for a youngster. An additional 1/2 bath and finished basement room were added in 2014.

The cottage has all the amenities you'd expect in a well furnished, very clean house. The house, deck, 100' waterfront and dock offer excellent privacy. Three kayaks, a paddle board, row boat, and bicycles are available for your use.

This house is ideally situated on Embden's favored East Shore, which is bathed in the afternoon sun which displays spectacular sunsets across the lake. Our expanded deck and screened gazebo offer a spectacular view and ideal relaxation spot. Enjoy a friendly game of pingpong, a good novel lakeside, a campfire at the fire pit or TV via satellite dish. Equipped with wireless internet, check on "business" if you must. Young or old, there is something for everyone here.

Wonderfully supprised!

September 13, 2014

Our stay at the Daly cabin, was one we will never forget! We picked up groceries and never left the cabin again, unless it was to swim, kayak or canoe! The water was crystal clear and wonderfully warm! The accommadations were top notch and spotless! All the amenities made the days fly by and the days were all just gorgeous! The beds were comfortable and cozy and morning coffee on the deck revealed hummingbirds feeding at the flower boxes and flittering around to see who the latest guests were! A female mallard adopted us and kept close enough to hand feed on several occassions, she even followed us when we went out on the water. We have been spoiled by this stay and it has been elevated up to one of our best vacations ever! I only hope the good Lord blesses us with the time to be able to return to this lovely get-a-way again! You will not be dispointed if you decide to give this rental a try! Steve Baumann

Paradise Found

August 23, 2014

I planned a surprise 3-night stay for my husband, a quiet get-away for the two of us. He had no idea where we were going until we were on the property....and of course, he loved it! The Daly's cottage is clean, neat and homey. The kitchen is well-stocked with all the necessary appliances and cookware. There is a gorgeous view of Emden Lake from the living room and master bedroom. The lake was a little colder than I expected in August, but that certainly didn't stop us from swimming and enjoying the kayaks. We had some great strolls down the camp roads and enjoyed watching the numerous hummingbirds at the feeders. We were very impressed with the many amenities and would definitely choose this property again. In just three days, some wonderful memories were created.

Owner's reply:

Beyond relaxation - beautiful.

August 6, 2013

This was the most relaxing and peaceful vacation. The lake was absolutely beautiful and having access to the owners kayaks and small aluminum boat was an added feature. My family had a great time swimming, kayaking, and relaxing by the shore. Sitting on the shore and watching the sunsets and listening to the loons was great. I have 2 children and this was an excellent spot, as the lake is not busy and there are not a lot of boats speeding by. I would recommend this location to others looking for a great place to kick back and relax. We had one rainy day while there and my kids enjoyed playing board games and making puzzles - all of which where provided, and the kids thought it was great to swim in the rain.

Perfect spot to relax!

September 2, 2012

The Daly cottage is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy one of Maine's pristine lakes. The cottage is well appointed and very clean. Amenties provide for fun on the lake and the deck and screen room are perfect for outdoor meals and relaxation. Sunsets from the deck and dock are amazing! The kitchen has everything you need including a lobster pot! The Dalys have thought of everything to ensure their guests enjoy their time at Embden and feel right a home. We will be back! I grew up nearby and spent many a summer at my grandfather's cottage on the West Shore. Our week at Embden was a wonderful homecoming.

Rest and Relaxation

July 31, 2012

The home was very clean and had just about every little extra thing we may have forgotten to bring ourselves. In fact the owners provided many extras that you don't normally find with vacation rentals. The furnishings also were above average, as it appeared that some recent upgrades had been made. The pond itself was clear, clean, and very refreshing, without being too cold or too hot. The location was very quiet and relaxing. Midweek there are very few motorized boats on the pond, so it was very quiet and peaceful. My wife and I came away from our week's stay feeling stress-free and well rested. It was just what we were looking for, as we didn't want to be on one of the crowded, noisy, more well-known lakes. I will definately recommend this rental to my friends and family.

Great stay!

July 16, 2012

Our family of four (2 teen boys) had a magnificent vacation! We were extremely pleased with our stay at this beautiful lake cottage! From the beautiful home to the magnificent surroundings, we couldn't have been more comfortable. The cottage is well stocked with all the little things that can make a difference, from games and puzzles to the seasonings and citronella candles. The kayaks and boats were well maintained and offered hours of fun. Ending our nights by the campfire, or in the beautiful screen room left us with nothing but sweet dreams. Waking to the beautiful views from the master bedroom was amazing. I can say that besides more time, there was nothing we needed.

Comfortable and fully equipped home & CLEAN lake

September 3, 2011

Stayed 2 weeks, 8/20-9/3. What a wonderful, well kept, completely homey comfortable house! There was absolutely nothing we needed to enjoy this beautiful lake that wasn’t here. Kitchen completely equipped, COMFORTABLE beds, beautiful deck, crystal clear swimming water, privacy, accommodating owner and internet. That sky at night – felt like if I was just one foot taller I could touch a star! And the lake.. and the loons, and the clean air that felt like it was washing away the dirt of urban life. We love Maine and are grateful our first opportunity to stay here was at this lovely home. Thank you!

A Great Family Vacation!

September 1, 2009

We stayed here in August 2009 with another family. We had a great time! The house is very well-kept & accomodating. The view is worth the trip alone! We had fun on some day trips in the area to Moxie Falls & Moosehead Lake. But, the kids liked the lake the best. We spent most of the time in or on the lake. The water was very refreshing & the availability of the boats was an added bonus. The vacation provided the peace we needed to recharge our batteries before the busy school year starts! Thank you!

Tranquil Lake!

August 4, 2009

My husband and I stayed here for three nights on our yearly vacation alone together without kids. It was just what the doctor ordered. We loved the home, lake, layout, boats, etc. The owner was very professional and fair in all ways. I highly recommend this as a vacation getaway! Nice and quiet...loved seeing the fireflies come out in the eve and the sun setting over the water-also hearing the loons. Great bike trails and canoe opportunities closeby as well.

Just what the doctor ordered

October 9, 2008

I just returned from a tour of duty to the Middle East. Desiring to reunite with my family away from the distractions of home, I discovered this charming lake house searching the internet. Not only was it the perfect size for our family of six, it was clean and in great shape. The paddled kayaks and raced each other across the north end of the lake. We played ping pong and board games when we weren't outside. We grilled steaks and pork chops on the deck while enjoying beautiful sunsets. After dark we gathered around the outdoor fire pit and made smores. There was plenty to do in the area as well. We drove to a nearby orchard where macintosh apples were ripe and ready for picking. We also drove up to Moxie Falls for a picnic, and on up to Jackman. The leaves were just beginning to turn, making the lovely landscape that much more beautiful. It was the most relaxing vacation I've had in years. You can bet that we'll be back next year & beyond to rent this wonderful lake ho

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Thank you for our stay at your lovely cottage. You have beautiful surroundings here. We really enjoyed the moment-to-moment changes in the sky, land, and water. So pretty!
Thank you again.

"My brothers and I stayed at the Lake House for a total of three nights,
but with the peace, quiet, and relaxation we enjoyed, when we got back
to the 'real world', we felt like we have just gotten back from a year
long sabbatical. This place is perfect - it's in a great, quiet
location yet the house itself contains great modern amenities. Embden
Pond itself is really a jewel in the middle of Maine - I have no idea
why I had never heard of it prior to the trip. We can't wait to go
Anthony from CT

Again, we had a wonderful week at your cabin! Your home is beautiful and functional - all we had to bring in was groceries! The crystal clear lake was the best, though, and we spent all our time outdoors on and in the water!!! The ping pong table was a hit with all of us in the evening, and our kids are now bugging their grandma to dig her table out of storage! Our family came home reconnected, relaxed and with great memories!!! We hope to be back next summer!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the most fun things to do at your vacation rental?)
A: Enjoy the lake! We provide 4 kayaks, a canoe and a 12' row boat with available motor for exploring the lake and fishing. Locally, there are hiking and bike trails and great day trips to Moxie Falls, Moosehead Lake, and Sugarloaf Resort. A highlight for many is white water rafting on the Kennebec or Dead Rivers. These range from "family gentle" to absolutely wild! There is golf by day and live theater at night at Lakewood within 40 min.
Q: What makes your vacation rental special?)
A: We treat our guests as we treat family. Special attention is paid to making sure the house is clean, organized and well stocked with the incidentals to make your experience as stress free and memorable as possible. This is an ideal place to kick back, relax and re-connect. Years ago we fell in love with this Lake and Mountain region of Maine, and we take no credit for the natural beauty you'll find here.
Q: How much privacy does the house/location provide?
A: The house has a private driveway and is also near the end of a private lane. There is a wooded boundry on one side of the property and the small cottage next door is rarely occupied by a retired couple. Mid-week the lake activity is almost nil. " Felt like we had the lake to ourselves." Yet, any neighbors you may encounter are friendly and respectful of privacy. That is the Maine way!
