Description of the Ensenada vacation cottage rental

"Llantacita" means little tire in Spanish and this 650 sq.ft. studio apartment has been built entirely out of used tires, but you'd never know it! It's is situated on the bluff 650' above the beach below the property. The casita has a high beamed ceiling and huge windows to take in the incredible view. Between the windows is a mosaic tiled woodburning fireplace to keep it nice and cozy on a winter nite.

There's a full kitchen and nicely appointed bath with self-COMPOSTING TOILET, which uses no running water, only peat moss. It's furnished tastefully and decorated in bright Mexican colors. The roof of the casita serves as a patio and has deck chairs and firepit. There's also another patio immediately in front of the casita which is totally private from the main house where you could sunbath if you wanted. The view is breathtaking and the sunsets incredible, and from Dec-Mar you can watch the Grey Whales swimming by on their way to Southern Baja.

This property is located in an exclusive enclave of estate homes and is rural. The bay beaches are only 10 mins. by car and the Pacific ocean below the property is drivable in a 4-wheeler. You can hike fantastic trails and the view is spectacular as we're on a peninsula so you actually have 360 degree views. We are very close to La Bufadora where the famous blowhole is located and you can shop, eat fish tacos, drink Margaritas and dance to salsa music. This is the perfect Honeymoon suite and romantic getaway.

We are located about 25 miles from downtown Ensenada, we have beaches on both sides of the property and are only minutes away. To the north of us is the famous Mexican wine country and there are always fun events to attend in the wine country.

Area Description

Punta Banda is 25 miles south of downtown Ensenada, populated mostly by American Expats, beautiful beaches, fishing, hiking, kayaking. Wine country close by, hotsprings on the beach and inland, plenty of fresh fish and seafood like you've never tasted before.

 Awesome!!, November 4, 2009
By Susi & Mitch (San Diego, CA)
This is more beautiful, romantic, peaceful and just plain awesome than you can imagine! My husband & I were looking for something within easy driving distance of San Diego for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary, and being environmentalists, we particularly liked the idea of staying in an "eco-friendly" house. We were even more interested to see it after listening to the description of how it was built: All of the walls are recycled, discarded car tires! But, except for the rounded front corners, there is not even any indication tires were used at all. Very neat! We also liked the exposure of learning how an "altenative" composting toilet worked. It looks a little bit different, but works just as conveniently as an ordinary one, except it does not waste any water. So many great new ideas! So, besides being enviornmentally friendly, the house was wonderfully comfortable and cozy! The front opens into a breath-taking, panoramic view of rugged mountain ranges (great hiking!) that drop down dramatically about 600' to the ocean below. What an incredible place to sit and watch the setting sun each evening! At night we could hear the waves breaking on the beach far below and the quiet barking of the seals. One night, after cooking a romantic dinner in the great little kitchen, we enjoyed a primo bottle of local wine in front of the hand-tiled fireplace. We could not have asked for more! We are planning to go back for a week in the spring to explore the area!
