Excellent lake side home

We were very happy with the cabin - it's well laid out and the master bedroom was huge - as was the ensuite. The 2 other bedrooms are small, with double beds but worked great for kids. Having 2 bathrooms plus 1 extra toilet near the entrance was a bonus as well. No cable so bring DVD's or plan to rent. BBQ has been replaced since the last review and its briquette, not propane or gas but it worked great. The lake is beautiful and you'll see deer walking through the yard. No air-conditioning but we were pleasantly surprised at how cool the place stayed if you kept it closed up during the day. The local manager was punctual and very nice - for a fee that gets deducted off your deposit, she will clean it for you. The balance of our deposit was returned promptly. Overall we were very happy with how everything was handled and we would recommend it!

A little sleepy

Our family stayed here for one week in July. We arrived to find the house only partially cleaned due to some miscommunication with the previous occupants and the property manager...not a great way to start. The owner does not supply anything you would normally expect from a vacation rental...which meant we had to drive into Eureka to buy garbage bags, dishwashing liquid, dishwashing detergent, sponges, toilet paper, paper towels, and soap. These items are normally supplied in my past experience. In addition the bbq did not work, in fact the element was hanging down and the propane not even hooked up. They need to purchase a new bbq for a lakefront rental in my opinion. If you are going, be sure to bring your own portable one. You may also want to bring patio chairs as the ones they have are plastic. The house itself was fine, it slept our family comfortably. When the sun is out the lake is great. but when the weather is iffy there is nothing to do...bring your own water toys, bring a boat if you have one (we ended up renting one), bring everything...movies, games, books...there is no cable or wifi. Your cell phone will not work (short drive up the road). I think with a few very small and inexpensive modifications this property could be good...it left us with a bad first impression unfortunately.

Owner's reply:

Since your stay we have stock the cabin with soaps ,paper products and a new BBQ.
As for not having WIFI and Cable it is stated in the decription in the ad before you rent it that these things are not included.
We tell everyone to bring movies it does have a VCR and Disc player.
This cabin is were family can enjoy each other by doing things together they would normally not do.

We really enjoyed the peace and tranquility. Having the boat in the water at the dock was priceless. The cabin was clean and everything worked. We would go back. The only shortcoming was the condition of the BBQ. We are glad we brought our own.
