Description of the Favignana vacation apartment rental

Our villa is perched on the hillside, overlooking the harbour, in splendid isolation. It is charmingly rustic with probably the best views of any villa in the Sicilian area. We hope you will enjoy an idyllic sojourn which will be different to any other villa holiday. The villa has no pretensions and that is its charm. There are all the facilities you need but the feeling of being able to completely relax yet be in touch with a charming village with numerous restaurants not more than 4 mins by car makes it an unforgettable experience.

Our aim was to tastefully restore yet retain its character of the shepherds cottage it once was. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and sleeps six people, a kitchen and lounge. There is a wonderful stone barbeque in the garden again designed by us to reflect its charm. Development is banned in the area so you are alone on the hillside yet never far away for everything you could wish for.

Area Information

Favignana is the largest of the three principal Egadi Islands. The island is often described as having a "butterfly" shape. Favignana town is located on a narrow isthmus connecting the two "wings", which have quite different characteristics. The eastern half of the island is largely flat, while the western half is dominated by a chain of hills of which Monte Santa Caterina is the tallest at 314 m (1045 ft). It is topped by a fort, originally established by the Saracens and still in use by the Italian military.

The villa is situated on the western 'wing' of the island midway between between the abandoned castle and the mountain of Santa Caterina.
