Hurricane Sandy

October 31, 2012

We didn't know what kind of weekend we had in store for us when drove down on Saturday into hurricane Sandy. But we lucked out rain had calmed down and the weather was beautiful for the rest of our stay. Oh and the condo was great, well taken care of. It was warm, clean and cozy. Had everything we needed.

Fall for Folly--- Anytime! Clara Holand Jax., FL
Review Submitted December 1, 2011 Date of Stay November 23, 2011 Our family enjoyed 5 nights of Thanksgiving week in this wonderful condo with excellent accommodations overlooking the Folly River. My first choice had been to stay directly on the beach, but this condo was available and priced right! Now, when we return to Charleston, we all agreed to stay in this condo---we can walk to the beach. The view from the glass/screened porch was beautiful morning and night! Rating:

Review Submitted October 12, 2011 Date of Stay October 9, 2011 We just returned back from a wonderful, relaxing stay. In spite of the rainy and windy weather, we found this a great unit to stay at. There was everything anyone would need PLUS more! The sun set one evening was breath taking. Its just a short drive to the ocean and good restruants. We would definetely stay here again if in the area. Rating:

Review Submitted November 2, 2011 Date of Stay September 14, 2011 We had an amazing time during our stay at Mariners Cay. The unit was a perfect size, very spacious and the view was spectacular. The enclosed porch over looking the marina was perfect for your morning coffee or evening cocktails! The short drive to Center Street on Folly Beach was convenient for a day at the beach or for dinner with family and friends....we will definitely be back! Rating:

Tennis, Folly, and Gulla grub - I needed that!! James D. Hughes Knoxville, TN
Review Submitted September 26, 2011 Date of Stay September 8, 2011 I immensely enjoyed 4.5 days of well deserved R&R at Will and Nan's Mariner's Cay condo at Folly Beach. It was my second time at M C - both times were great - but this condo was considerably nicer than the first. The condo is immaculate and well appointed. Queen in the master and twins in the other two BR. The unit is a second story condo that overlooks the development's marina - and the dock's subtle lighting reflecting off the Folly River creates a lovely ambiance. Upon returning from a day at the beach or beautiful downtown Charleston, we generally turned down the lights and let the dock provide the backdrop for cocktail hour. One of the bonus features about Mariner's Cay - when you're ready to slow it down, the revelry of the downtown Folly nightspots doesn't keep you awake. I was at Folly for a day and a half by myself, but made some new local friends - one a tennis junky like me - we hit at the well maintained tennis courts three times during my stay. Some locals took me shrimping one day as well (3 lbs of SC bugs in the Tennessee freezer).. Then my cousins came up from Jacksonville for a couple of days. All in all . . . nice digs, tennis, family, new friends, and palmetto hospitality at the "Edge of America." I highly recommend this Mariner's Cay condo. I'll be back. Rating:

Nice Quiet Gated Community Robert Parenti Mid-Atlantic
Review Submitted August 18, 2011 Date of Stay August 7, 2011 Had a good time at Mariner's Cay. The Condo was very nice - kitchen well equipped, third floor quiet/privacy. Enjoyed the view from the closed in balcony (much better than being just screened-in), and had breakfast out there every morning! Rooms were clean and bright (maybe too bright if you're a late sleeper). Having the marina so close was welcome with our kayak - when not using it was convenient to store under the building and not have it on our car. Rating:

Review Submitted July 25, 2011 Date of Stay July 16, 2011 The location is convenient, just across the bridge from "downtown" Folly. The facility is quiet, secure, clean and well maintained. The large pool has lots of seating and a pavilion. Dockage at the marina was a big plus for us. Tennis courts looked very nice but it was just too hot. The full time residents were friendly and helpful. The condo itself was better than expected with comfortable furnishing, a great view of the marina and the river beyond. The kitchen is well appointed (which saves time and money) and includes washer, dryer and dishwasher. Negatives were minor. You have to walk to the pool to use a charcoal grill or bring your own propane tank to grill near the marina. This unit does not have its own internet access but you can get a strong signal from your car outside the library on Folly. Rating:

Review Submitted July 10, 2011 Date of Stay July 2, 2011 We really enjoyed our stay at Mariners Cay. The condo was spacious and airy. It was clean and well maintained. What a terrific view of the river and marina ! We felt like we were staying somewhere exotic. We watched kayakers, paddleboarders and boaters go by everyday. In the morning and evening we could see porpoises playing in the river. Our favorite spot was the sun room!! We ate breakfast in the sun room every day. My oldest daughter kept curling up on the couch out there to read. The layout of the condo gave everyone plenty of privacy. It was also very quiet. The kitchen was well furnished with all of the things you might need to do vacation cooking. The washer & dryer came in very handy. We enjoyed the large pool, which was so close. The charcoal grill at the pool worked well for our July 4th cookout. The owner was very helpful in answering our inquiries about bringing our little sailboat. We were able to dock it at the marina for an additional fee. The manager of the Mariner's Cay Marina was very helpful in getting the boat registered and getting a slip for us to use. You meet lots of nice folks down by the docksâ¦sailors and fishermen. We were able to rent a spot at a storage facility on Folly Road to store the boat trailer, since it couldn't be stored on the property. I guess the only negative was having to use the gate card to come and go from the entrance. This got a little crazy with our twenty-something age children coming and going at different times from us. The proximity to Folly beach was good. One day we rode our bikes into town for breakfast at The Lost Dog Café. (YUM!!!!) One night we walked into town and just wandered around. Good sidewalks all the way in. We would pack up the car each day and go over to the beach for the day. We had good luck finding a spot at the beach access at W 5th Street. Overall, a great place to stay. Easy access to all of the tourist attractions and eateries in the Charleston area. Folly Beach has some great eating places too. I would recommend staying here. Private Gated Community on Water/ Very Convenient to Restaurants and Bars Kendall Koste Mt Pleasant SC
Review Submitted August 8, 2011 Date of Stay June 25, 2011 This was the perfect place to stay on Folly. The community was gated, quiet, nice and on the marina. We brought our boat and went out everyday-so convenient and pretty. The condo was nicely updated and very spacious. Our view was of the Folly River and the marina. We rented bikes and were able to be in the "downtown Folly" area in minutes. Add another couple of blocks and you are at the beach! Lots of great restaurants and bars with live music. We would stay there again in a skinny minute! Thanks! Rating:
