Description of the Fontana vacation home rental

This is a 4000 sq. ft. home on two wooded acres with 120 feet of lakefront at the Fontana end of Lake Geneva. The long private pier has a covered boat lift, and is complemented by a large swim raft and buoy for an additional boat.

The house was styled after William Wordsworth's home in the Lake Country of England. It has been in the family since it was built in 1905. The interior is Midwest Prairie architecture with beamed ceilings spanning the Great Room and the spacious dining room. The Great Room features two sitting areas, a large fireplace, and an HDTV home theatre. The adjoining outdoor porch affords stunning views of the lake and is filled with comfortable wicker furniture, including a porch swing and dining table.

The house has a large, fully appointed kitchen with modern appliances, a double oven, microwave oven, 28 cu. ft. side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, plus breakfast table in a sitting area with two easy chairs, oversized desk, cable TV, and Franklin fireplace. Off the kitchen there is a butler's pantry with wet bar, a powder room, a utility room with washer and dryer, and an outdoor multi-burner gas grill on the back patio.

The house is fully air conditioned.

The upstairs has six bedrooms that sleep 14, and three full baths. Three bedrooms overlook the lake, one with a king and two with queen-size beds. The other three bedrooms view our private woods and have twins, a double bed, or double bunk beds.

Fresh linens and towels are supplied on a weekly basis, and suplemental maid services can be arranged.

The upstairs hallway is an open sitting area with large screen cable TV, DVD, VCR and handsome fireplace. The space also contains a desk area with computer, high speed internet, and wireless connection for the entire house.

The Fontana waterfront is only a 10-minute walk along the lake shore path for either casual or fine dining, boat and jet-ski rentals, public boat launch, and beach. The 26-mile lake path is maintained by lakefront residents for the enjoyment of walkers and joggers.

Golfers will find several excellent golf courses nearby. The area boasts wonderful shopping, antiquing, movie theatres, bowling, libraries, and restaurants. Other nearby facilities include a comprehensive health club, a full service spa, an oustanding sailing camp, and biking and hiking trails. Summer theatre and an outdoor concert series are offered, and a full schedule of boat excursions from the Riviera dock in dowtwown Lake Geneva. Baseball fans will enjoy the Beloit Snapper minor league baseball games nearby. Fireworks over the lake celebrate the 4th of July. August features the Wisconsin State Fair in nearby Milwaukee, and weekly corn and bratwurst festivals throughout the area.

A daily train commutes to Chicago from Harvard, Illinois, 20 mminutes away by car. Milwaukee and O'Hare Airports are within 45 minutes or an hour and a half respectively.
