Description of the Fort Lauderdale vacation condo rental
We offer you a vacation getaway in the sky – a 2 bedroom, 2 bath luxury condo at the very top of the Esplanade, right on the New River, in exciting Downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

DOWNTOWN ON THE NEW RIVER – means you are there. Not having to get into your car to “get there”, not “only a mile (or two, or three) to THERE”, but actually being THERE. We have 35 restaurants, night clubs, play houses, historic center, and art museums all within a quarter mile from us – that’s 2 blocks. They are all just an easy short walk away. Or you can take one of our bikes for a pleasant 5 or 10 minute ride to any of them. Walk to the Water Taxi stop just down the street and go anywhere on the New River and Intercoastal Waterway. Eat at one of the nearby restaurants on the river (the Pirates Republic Saloon & Restaurant is a block away). Suggestion: Plan your vacation to take in one of the first-run Broadway productions offered at the Broward Performing Arts Center (our 52 million dollar crown jewel playhouse), then one night you can walk across to the “theater” and feel like you are on Broadway.

LUXURY CONDO – is like staying in a fancy resort but without the resort prices and small rooms. It is NOT some rental house buried in a residential neighborhood miles from where you want to be. Luxury Condo means a swimming pool, a jetted spa pool, a dry heat sauna room, tennis courts, a full gym, 2 reserved parking spaces, a Business Center and 24 hour desk service with a full time residential manager. A place where someone says “Hello” when you arrive and that can help with problems and questions.

“A VIEW TO DIE FOR” – means we are on the penthouse floor, 16 stories up looking down on the river and the boat traffic. Across the river is the Performing Arts Center mentioned above, Esplanade Park, the City’s Historic District, the Entertainment District and the start of the premier shopping district – Las Olas Blvd. “A view to die for” means the whole City is laid out before you, and at night it lights up as far as you can see.

FULLY EQUIPPED – means a 50” HDTV, cable service with 273 channels (14 HBO and Starz premium movie channels and 95 HD channels). A Sony Entertainment Center with 7000 songs, Blu-ray DVD player, 20 Mbps Internet service with Wi-Fi, free phone service to anywhere in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Bicycles, a kayak for the river, tennis rackets for the 2 courts, a blanket, chairs and cooler for the beach, full kitchen supplies and the list goes on (see details below).

SEE OUR WEB LINK AND WEB CAM – for more pictures, for a live river view from the nifty camera on our balcony, for a 2D and 3D floor plan, for more about our “stuff”, for more about your hosts Ralph and Judy, for more about the special events like the Winterfest Boat Parade that starts on the river below us and the New Year’s Eve party that takes place in the park across the river from us. And for more about the dock spaces available for your boat or yacht. The links are shown below - at the very bottom of this ad, just before "Contact Owner" and after all the testimonials. There is one for our WEB page and one for the WEB cam.

IN SUMMARY – we are a Luxury Condo, Downtown on the New River, with a “View to Die For”. We are a “one unit guest house”. We meet every guest, we show them around, we get them settled in and we get to know them. We have over 30 very nice reviews and testimonials from guests we call our friends.

Area Info
If you are not familiar with the Downtown area of Fort Lauderdale, it is the fastest growing, most vibrant part of the City. A number of years ago the City Commission decided to re-develop the downtown area as an arts, entertainment and residential living area. A number of studies were done and a master plan developed. The first phase was the building of the “Riverwalk Park” along the north bank of the New River (the main river that runs through the downtown area and has some of the most expensive homes in the City).

Riverwalk Park allows you to walk the river (or ride one of our bikes) and enjoy the activities. The west end of the Park (where we are) starts at the cultural center of Broward County with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and going east passes the Museum of Discovery and IMAX Theater, the Old Ft. Lauderdale Village & Museum and the Museum of Art (one of the few museums in the country to show the King Tut Exhibition).

Continuing along the Riverwalk are a number of parks (Huizenga Plaza with its fountain that dances to music is most impressive), the Las Olas Riverfront mall with its many shops and movie theaters, the entertainment area along 2nd street, and a number of magnificent new condos. The Riverwalk ends at famous Las Olas Blvd. and its many unusual shops and restaurants (the Rodeo Drive of Ft. Lauderdale).

In Summary: you could stay at one of the condos on the ocean with its retirement atmosphere - where you will have to get in your car to go anyplace, or you can stay Downtown “where the action is”. If you haven’t tried staying Downtown I think you have a treat awaiting you.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME... 5/5
My stay in the Penthouse was outstanding. I am a Fort lauderdale local and was having work done on my home and needed a place to stay for a week while the construction got under way. This place was perfect. Close to downtown, shopping, highways, etc. They are a sweet couple and very accommodating - I would definitely recommend to family and friends.

From our Guest Book:

Ralph and Judy,Thank you so much for allowing my son and I to stay in your lovely condo during our annual baseball trip. We couldn't have hoped for a better trip. The Giants swept the 2 game series with the Marlins and enjoying our post game recap while enjoying the view from your balcony was truly special. It turned out to be another 3 days in paradise! I apologize if you are Marlin fans but the Giants normally get beat up when they come to Florida. We enjoyed the Jungle Queen and ate at both the Downtowner and Pirate Republic. Thanks you for the recommendations. Please know that the staff here is very friendly and treat your guests like family.P.S. I plan to come back in 2012 to see the Marlin's new stadium.

GET OUT OF CONNECTICUT IN WINTER 5/5
Judy and Ralph I was a pleasure to meet you both, and stay in your great condo. We usually stay in Naples, but I think we are coming back to Fort Lauderdale.(more action, great food, and I think better beaches). Your condo is great, you think of everything. I believe that if Ralph had not been an engineer, he would have been an excellent upscale hotel manager, his attention to detail is remarkable.(pens-postcards-stamps-food-coffee-beach chairs-etc.) We spent the Month of March, the weather was great, and we were even able to see the fireworks celebrating the 100 years of Fort Lauderdale from the balcony. Hope to see you again.

From our Guest Book:

Ralph and Judy, We could not have enjoyed our stay more. New Year's Eve on your balcony was incredible as we watched the fireworks being shot off from atop the Performing Acts Center at midnight as well as seeing fireworks across the city. We also watched the ball drop in front of the IMAX Theater at midnight. Your condo is so warm and comfortable and complete in every detail. We wanted for nothing. Your hospitality and attention to detail and making our stay unforgettable was above and beyond! Thank you for everything and we will definitely be back. Kindest regards.

DECEMBER 2010 VISIT
We truly enjoyed our stay at your condo. It had everything we could possibly have needed and more. It was a very comfortably furnished condo with a fully stocked kitchen and endless TV channels and Wi-Fi. The view was to die for and the kids loved watching all the boating activity. You were extremely easy to get in touch with and a pleasure getting to know. We would love to stay again.

Dear Ralph and Judy, Thank you very much for such a wonderful time. We have felt as in house but at the same time in a great vacation. Watched football and enjoy it! We have shopped and walked and eat and done everything. Your place is absolutely cozy and comfortable! Nothing is missing, if you need anything it is here, it is very nice to see how much care you have put in this place. Once again, thank you and be sure that whenever we plan a new vacation here it will be with you. See you soon...

Your lovely home was so comfortable, so well equipped - with a view that drew us to the balcony all through our stay. This is a place that reflects owners who truly care about their home meeting your very need. Convenient to everything, by boat, car and walking. But always so much fun to come home to - thank you for your thoughtfulness. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend your home to everyone for and wide.

Dear Ralph and Judy, We are truly amazed with this beautiful condo. It has everything, it is so complete! Only you did not have a spare bicycle tire :-)! We enjoyed our stay from the beginning. You even got us to buying new sofa's, of course with reclining seats like yours. Everyday we could do something totally different. We did a lot of biking, we know Fort Lauderdale much better now. The kids had a great time. They loved their big TV screen! The pool was lovely. Yesterday we all enjoyed the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Katherine. Today our daughter has her 10th birthday, so we all are in a very happy mood. In a few days our holiday comes to an end. It is hard to leave a place where we all had such a good time. Hopefully, one day, we will come back and will have again a great time. We thank you both for all the effort you put to make a stay for all our guests so enjoyable. I pays back to everyone who leaves a nice note in your guestbook. Hopefully till the next time.

Ralph and Judy, What a pleasure to stay here! (Been to a lot) one of the best. Hubby and I really enjoyed the view on balcony... of course with tails in hand. Everywhere we looked there were more things that made us feel at home. The welcome frame (with our names) was great! Can't find that at any resort. We will stay in touch.

FROM A COUPLE OF TRAVEL WRITERS 5/5
Whenever we work, as travel writers around the world there is one thing that frequently blights our enjoyment and that is finding accommodation that we can afford to pay for and more importantly meets our high standards. We are sure that we are not alone in our desire to avoid noisy and sometimes dirty rooms in hotels chains. They are uncomfortable, have expensive and poorly served breakfasts and supplement their already substantial profit by charging huge sums to guests for the use the internet. When we travel we like to live as local do, in comfort, with the necessities of life that make being and working away from home that little bit more bearable. A good, well equipped kitchen, washing machines, a place to work and other home comforts help ease the stress of being away on the road. What do you think? For many years we have suffered poor accommodation in Fort Lauderdale at boat show time, made worse by the knowing the price has just gone up because the event is in town. So, it is wonderfully refreshing to be able to report on, and even recommend, a great self-catering apartment in downtown Fort Lauderdale that is fully equipped, and while not cheap is excellent. The penthouse suite on the 17th floor is a two bedroom apartment located over looking the New River, with spectacular views of down town and the water in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. The main bedroom has a huge bed, walk in wardrobe and bathroom with tub and separate shower. The second bedroom is laid out as a study with printer, wifi, sofa bed and its own bathroom. The large living room includes a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and drier and a dinning room table that is perfect for working at. Walk across the bridge to the Broward Center for Performing Arts and all that Las Olas Boulevard has to offer or catch the water taxi over to the beach or along the water ways so you get to see the houses belonging to millionaires who park their super yachts at the foot of their gardens! The apartment block has its own covered secure parking, a sauna, fitness centre, pool surrounded by BBQs for use by guests and even a 24 hour lobby attendant.

JUST MY VIEW 5/5
Great place to stay, splendid views over the river and downtown area. Very well equipped, and close enough to walk or cycle safely to Publix. Ideally placed for Los Olas restaurants and easy to get around by river taxi and water taxi (recommend Charley's Crab at end of water taxi route).

WE PLAYED AND FIDDLED 5/5
I stayed here for 2 weeks while in town with FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. A co-worker and I (both management) shared this fantastic 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment. It couldn't have been better equipped! The beautiful balcony on the top floor of the building provided gorgeous views and a lovely breeze. The kitchen had every appliance necessary and quite few extras. Ralph and Judy were so welcoming and pointed out some local restaurants to try. I'll definitely come back if given the chance!

OUR WINTER GETAWAY 5/5
We have rented this apartment for the last three winters (January, February, March) and plan to rent it again this winter. The Apartment itself is beautiful, the view spectacular, and everything we have needed has been there or has been supplied by the owner. From the balcony, we can see both up and down the river. Last year, we were able to watch the migration of the manatees, a very impressive sight. The building is quiet, with a full gym, a pool, a sauna and jacuzzi.

Great place to use as a base to explore Fort Lauderdale & the surrounding area. Fantastic to have supper out on the balcony. You can watch the world go bye below you, from boats to people. One could say that the apartment block is the wrong side of the river, but with a bridge either side and water taxis at your disposal access to the theatre, restaurants, river walk and Las Olas are less than five minutes away.(the better view out ways the walk). We had a great time and if your lucky enough to be able to find a space in the diary then book, you wont be disappointed. Thanks again Ralph & Judy ,keep up the good work, the girls and I will be back !!!
