Fort Myers Beach occupies all of what is known as Estero Island, just 10 miles from both downtown Fort Myers and the Southwest Florida International Airport. The islands south side faces the Gulf of Mexico and has miles of beaches. However, the best beach in the area is on Lovers Key in the state park on the island. This is an excellent place if you are at all interested in nature as there are many birds living in the mangrove forests here. This also happens to be a great spot for shelling. The Estero Bay side of the island is best viewed by boat or kayak, either of which may be rented in the area. There are many uninhabited keys within the bay that play host to hundreds of different species of birds, plants and mammals. If you are interested in fishing you can simply cast a line from the piers and docks here in Fort Myers Beach or you can arrange a charter fishing guide to help you land the big one. If you are interested in seeing the coastline a bit more some popular day trips include Sanibel and Captiva Islands to the north or Naples to the south. The shopping and dining scene on Fort Myers Beach is excellent. There are many shopping plazas along the island from Times Square in the north to Lover s Key in the south. And after a busy day enjoying Estero Island you can watch the sunset in the western sky from your own vacation home in Fort Myers Beach.
Fort Myers Beach: Welcome to the beautiful barrier islands of Fort Myers Beach-Estero Island and San Carlos Island – where the sun shines nearly every day and the average temperature is 74 degrees. Beaches are probably the No.1 attraction, with the turquoise blue to bright green waters of the Gulf of Mexico lapping at the silky, white sands and seashells – for the collector in everyone. Called the “world’s safest beach”, it’s an ideal site for family vacations, for there are no steep drop-offs, riptides or undertows.
Everywhere you go, wildlife is abundant. Shore birds such as egrets, pelicans, spoonbills, seagulls and herons are found near every body of water, from the gulf to the back bay. Sometimes, even the bald eagle can be spotted soaring over our islands. Fishing and boating are popular pastimes for residents and visitors alike – there are even restaurants you can get to by boat for lunch on (or near) the high seas. Yes, the comforts of civilization are evident as well. The multitude of fine restaurants provide palate-tempting menus for every meal of the day.
Fine shops with their unique souvenirs, gifts and apparel offer delights for every taste and budget – and all are staffed with friendly, enthusiastic help ready to answer your queries.

Dear Don and Karen,

Just a quick note to say, "Thank You!" Mary and I really enjoyed the week in your home! The only bad thing was, the time went by too quickly! (:>)

We'll let others know about your rental.

Sincerely,
Peter

PS. Nice and warm --- just how I like it!!
Greetings Karen,

I'm a little late in getting this to you, but just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our time at the royal palms. (May 16-23) The weather was not real cooperative, but we mangaged to have lots of fun anyhow. The royal palms is just as quaint as I remember from our first visit. Your cleaning crew does an excellent job as the place was sparkling, spic & span when we got there. However, I think you may want to check on your pool service. I don't think they were there to treat the pool. We left the screen door open on Tuesday, but there was still lots of sand in the pool from the week before, & no odor of chemicals in the pool.

Steve & I have begun the search for a home in the Ft. Myers area. We are determined to get a place we can retire to in a few years. I may be back in contact with you to find out how to rent by the week. There are so many beautiful homes available for a great price. We are a little over a year away from paying off our home in Ohio and want to have something ready for us to relocate to.

In the meantime, I'm sure we will be back to the royal palms as it is such a nice place to stay.
Take care, enjoy your summer and I will be in touch.

Regards,
Marsha Hubicz

Karen,

I stayed at your Beach Bungalow at beautiful Ft. Myers Beach the first
week of March. I'm an amateur photographer and took about 400 photos
while I was there, one of which I submitted to the Star Tribune
for their gallery of vacation photos. Well, they printed it in the Travel
Section of yesterday's paper (Sunday May 17th). It made me very happy to
be able to share my vacation memories with the paper's readers. Here's a
copy for your enjoyment. Feel free to use it anyway you wish to market
your wonderful beach house.

Karen

First off I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful time we had at the house! It was so hard to leave. We had a great time and appreciate you letting us stay at your house in March. I thank you! Janessa Sturtz

Hi Karen,
We are back home in MN. Thanks for sharing your house. We found it very nice. Clean, Quiet and everything was functional. My wife did turn the chime off in your clock so I hope no one thinks it doesn’t work. She took great care doing this because we had read about the clock in the journals. It’s just that she is a light sleeper especially away from home.
Don’t know if our travel agent told you but we are teachers. I am retired from St. Cloud schools and my wife has one year until retirement. So we are looking to possibly retire in Florida and this was a great way to look around the area.
Thanks again, maybe we’ll talk again.

Hi Karen-

We're moved in, all is grand and we're tickled with the place. Went for a walk on the beach just before sunset and ended up at the Tiki Bar at Outriggers. We thought we'd been picked up and moved to our other favorite place: Key West.

Thanks for the fine, clean place.

Amy
Karen and Don,

Thank you so much for renting the beach house. We loved our stay in FMB and look forward to a return visit in December. While we were in Florida we looked at buying a home in Fort Myers and to become full time residents of the city. We really enjoyed the rental beach house. The location was perfect for us. It was great that everything was provided in the kitchen and bath. It is a wonderful property and it made our vacation relaxing and comfortable.

We left only a small amount of laundry for the cleaning people and left the place exactly as we found it - SPOTLESS.

We appreciate the opportunity to stay there and will definitely recommend it to everyone we know heading to Florida.

Karen,

Just a quick note to say we had a great time. The cottage is very nice, you have it furnished beautifully, it's well maintained and clean. I will tell my friends about it and I'll come back again.
The weather was great so we enjoyed the pool & beach.

Thanks again

Deb

Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know we had a fabulous time in Florida and
wanted to say thank you again for the nice place to stay, my boys
absolutely loved the pool ; ) We are back in cold Michigan and we
wish we could have stayed a month.

Thank you again.

Susan Shelton

Hello Karen,

since about 09:00 am our time we are back home.

We enjoyed some great days in your lovely cottage! The weather was at its best – only sun and warm temperatures! So we could escape a little bit from our German winter (although it is not really cold over here) We felt really at home in your cottage and we used this great location for some day tours to explore Floridas great nature. It was definitely not the last time, that we came to Florida and in particular the Gulf coast.

We left your cottage as requested; hopefully Angela will not be kept too much busy though….

Again thanks a lot for giving your home to us! We really could relax. If you don´t mind, I will recommend your cottage to friend of mine and his family. They want to come over to Florida in May for two weeks and they are not sure, where to stay.

Very kind regards

Burkhard

Karen and Don,

We had a great time at your house and in Fort Myers Beach.
We would love to go back some day so you may hear from us again in a year or two.
Thank you for the opportunity to stay at your house.
Gary, Gloria and Gwendolyn

Hi Karen:

Home now after a delightful weekend in your Ft Meyers Bch house. What a gem! The place was immaculately clean when we arrived, which was so appreciated. We have rented numerous vacation homes that while lovely, are always a bit dirty, or have itchy towels/sheets & very few kitchen items. Your house was just perfect. Lush towels, comfortable beds & everything imaginable in terms of kitchen utensils & gadgets! We loved the location. Just perfect for us for our weekend getaway. Maybe next summer, I’ll book a week or two with the kids before school starts.

Karen and Don,

We returned to Minnetonka last night, and must tell you we were very sad to leave your lovely beach bungalow. It was one of the better vacations we have had. We tried to take great of everything. Please let us know if you or your Kathy found any problems. We would love to return someday. Greg told us that it is usually booked a year ahead of time. Nevertheless, we will check with you next year or the year after. Thanks again for making a wonderful one week vacation possible.

Hal Hanson and Kathy Spinner
Don /Karen many thanks for the rental of your wonderful house we had a great time the
weather was fantastic, once again thanks Graham Andrea and Lily
Sandi, just got home from your lovely Royal Palms and had a great time. Loved all the palm decorating, especially the quilt. We had perfect weather and got great tans, used the pool a lot and just relaxed. The organization in the house was great, easy to find anything that you needed, the bed was comfortable and we couldn’t have asked for anything. Only downside to the whole trip was the travel on I75, very busy and horrendous in FA, it took us 10 hours to go 400 miles last Saturday. Anyway thanks for the great holiday, I will talk to you again. Sharon
Good Morning Karen ,

I just wanted to say I had an awesome time at your place. Even though I was
down there for family stuff but I did get to enjoy everything..the pool the
whether Karen unbelievable it was about 98-100 everyday no rain it was
beautiful..I honestly cant wait to go back there your place is absolutley
beautiful..Again I had an awesome time and I am already making plans to go
back the last week of may 2007 I will definetly keep the email and I know I
will need to pay more and deposit etc etc no problem...I cant say it enough
thank you and it was AWESOME
Karen, sorry for the delay, things are a little hectic around here.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at your cottage. The furnishings were awesome, especially the clock in the living room. We went looking for the Sieko web site and are going to buy that same clock today. "Beautiful". We had rain off and on the first three days, which kept the pool cool. Last three days the water was HOT! , but we relaxed in it anyway. The place was so centrally located to all the sites we were interested in. We had no trouble finding and getting to all the attractions.
We looked at the house across the street, #159 had the realtors flyer on the sigh. $559,900! That's a big number. I didn't know we were in such high society.
We saw Sanibel and Captiva, Marco, Lovers Key, Charlies, Cheeburger, Cheeburger, Pinchers (Great!), Snook Inn (on Marco), and Mel's Diner.
We met Cpt. Peter Babb, at Island Charters (Port of the Islands) marina and fished 2 days for Snook, Reds, Speckled Trout. We also caught grouper, flounder, catfish, ladyfish, Jac Creval and yellowfin. We had a great time both days, but got sun and wind burns, which still haunt us a little bit.
On a scale of one to ten this week got a 10+. Hope you found the place taken care of properly.
Thanks for everything, looking forward to doing business with you all again.
Karen,
We had a great time, the boys loved it with the exception of a tremendous thunderstorm on the Monday night during which the electricity even flickered - it had them both crying to go back to Orlando and England!
They loved having the pool just outside the door and they were in it before we went out each day and last thing before they went to bed.
Thanks for allowing us to use your house, it was just what we needed after Disney and Universal.
Best wishes,
Julie
