Other Vacation Rental Amenities
Fort Myers Beach occupies all of what is known as Estero Island, just 10 miles from both downtown Fort Myers and the Southwest Florida International Airport. The islands south side faces the Gulf of Mexico and has miles of beaches. However, the best beach in the area is on Lovers Key in the state park on the island. This is an excellent place if you are at all interested in nature as there are many birds living in the mangrove forests here. This also happens to be a great spot for shelling. The Estero Bay side of the island is best viewed by boat or kayak, either of which may be rented in the area. There are many uninhabited keys within the bay that play host to hundreds of different species of birds, plants and mammals. If you are interested in fishing you can simply cast a line from the piers and docks here in Fort Myers Beach or you can arrange a charter fishing guide to help you land the big one. If you are interested in seeing the coastline a bit more some popular day trips include Sanibel and Captiva Islands to the north or Naples to the south. The shopping and dining scene on Fort Myers Beach is excellent. There are many shopping plazas along the island from Times Square in the north to Lover s Key in the south. And after a busy day enjoying Estero Island you can watch the sunset in the western sky from your own vacation home in Fort Myers Beach.
Fort Myers Beach: Welcome to the beautiful barrier islands of Fort Myers Beach-Estero Island and San Carlos Island – where the sun shines nearly every day and the average temperature is 74 degrees. Beaches are probably the No.1 attraction, with the turquoise blue to bright green waters of the Gulf of Mexico lapping at the silky, white sands and seashells – for the collector in everyone. Called the “world’s safest beach”, it’s an ideal site for family vacations, for there are no steep drop-offs, riptides or undertows.
Everywhere you go, wildlife is abundant. Shore birds such as egrets, pelicans, spoonbills, seagulls and herons are found near every body of water, from the gulf to the back bay. Sometimes, even the bald eagle can be spotted soaring over our islands. Fishing and boating are popular pastimes for residents and visitors alike – there are even restaurants you can get to by boat for lunch on (or near) the high seas. Yes, the comforts of civilization are evident as well. The multitude of fine restaurants provide palate-tempting menus for every meal of the day.
Fine shops with their unique souvenirs, gifts and apparel offer delights for every taste and budget – and all are staffed with friendly, enthusiastic help ready to answer your queries.

Wonderful

Thank you Don and Karen for a wonderful holiday. This was our first visit to Florida and we'll be coming back! The house was lovely. It is set in beautiful surroundings backing on to a canal in Estero Lagoon. One of the reasons we chose Florida was to do a spot of wildlife watching as our family are really keen on this. We were not disappointed. we saw dolphins swimming past the decking at the bottom of the garden and many, many birds. It was truly beautiful. This is a brilliant place to stay for anyone interested in wildlife and especially birds. The beach over the road was packed with birdlife which changed every day. We saw egrets, herons, ospreys, bald eagles and tons of shorebirds. We also saw manatees up the road at Lovers' Key. The town of Ft Myers Beach is really nice. Quiet, but plenty to do around there. And the beach was wonderful. The house was immaculate and the garden a pleasure to sit out in. All the home comforts were there and we really didn't want to come home. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. Thank you once again!

Slice of Paradise

The Royal Palms Getaway was the perfect place to stay for our first time in FMB. The house is spotless, perfectly equipped and beautifully located; very homey. There was not one thing that we reached for and was not able to find. The laundry is definitely a plus and as well kept as the house. Everything is labeled beautifully, no guessing games. We enjoyed the mornings by cooking breakfast and having coffee on the dock. The neighbors and thier dogs are very friendly and full of local knowledge. The south end of the island was just what we had ordered, tranquility, with the option of the a livelier north end. It could not have been more ideal. The weather could not have been more splendid; clear, dark blue skyies all 10 days. The beach located just across the street is spectacular. The sand is some of the silkest sand we have experienced and the sunsets are exquisite. Outriggers Tiki bar is an entertaining option, a great location to watch the sunset while listening to dualing conch shells if the right locals are in attendance. The resturant "Charlie's Boathouse" at the end of the street was delicious and the service was impeccable each & everytime we went. There is also a delicious Italian resturant just over the bridge called "Pastabilities". We highly recommend them both. We cannot wait for our next stay at The Royal Plams Getaway. Thank you Don & Karen for sharing your slice of paradise.

We had a great time at this property, It is very close to everything you need including a shorter walk from the house to the beach than across the beach itself! The pool and lanai provided an early morning coffee and relaxation area and later evening lounging. It was clean and friendly with everything needed to be comfortable. Charlies Boathouse is 3 doors down with great food and drink. Tiki hut bars are nearby on beachfront. For breakfast you will definitely enjoy Heavenly Bisquit just 2 or 3 km north of the house just off Estero Blvd at Mango Street. Truly heavenly! Wildlife is everywhere. We made a couple of trips to Lovers Key Park (about 5 km/3 miles south) and kayaked beside dolphins and manatees. At the beach the sand is fine and white, sandbirds and seashells were abundant and there are cabanas for rent. Compliments to owners Karen and Don for providing such a nice experience to us sunstarved northerners. We hope to return! Keith and Cathy

We had a great stay at Royal Palms Getaway. The owners thought of every detail! The house was comfortable and convenient to the beach and many restaurants, and just a 5 minute drive to Times Square and the pier and the Publix grocery store. 15 quick minutes to Fort Myers Sports Complex and great shopping. The lanai was perfect for breakfast and for relaxing after a fun day at the beach. We cannot wait to return and bring our grandchildren!

Home away from Home...We enjoyed an extended 11 day stay that included great weather. The house is as advertized. If you like the less crowded south end of FMB this is a much better option than a condo or hotel. Private and homey. Steps away from the Outrigger and a few blocks away from Santini Plaza and Pinchers. Thanks to the neighbor Greg for making us feel welcome to the neighborhood. Gotta love the king size bed!!!

We spent 8 nights in the cottage and really had a great time. The photos do not do it justice, the house is cute, well-maintained and clean, the palms in the front yard quite impressive. The kitchen is well-equipped, the beach only a very short walk away, so the location is perfect. We also enjoyed the small pool and had our morning coffee on the boat dock. The owners were very helpful and friendly, answered our questions almost immediately. In short, we can highly recommend this rental and cannot wait to come back next summer.

My fiancé and I had a great time in this beautiful cottage! It was very close to everything we needed and had all the space! We had a great time and look forward to coming back to the property! Sara July 7, 2012

Review #5176005 Amazing Vacation

Visiting Sanibel Island was on my 84 year old mother in law's bucket list. We looked at several properties before choosing this one. IT WAS AN EXCELLANT CHOICE!! The house was decorated wonderfully. It was within close driving distance to everything we wanted to do. Having a pool on site was exactly what we needed at the end of the day. Everything was labeled nicely, so you weren't wondering what switches went to what and where things were! We found everything we needed to do what little bit of cooking we did do!!! The neighbors were friendly and helpful...., we especially liked meeting Greg and his two dogs!! On our last night there, we walked up to the corner and had an amazing dinner at Charley's Restaurant!! Watching the ducks, heron and seagulls outside our back door was wonderful and we got some amazing pictures!!! The only thing that I can think of that would have made the house even better would be the addition of at least a half bath!! Sometimes with an 84 year old and only one bath posed a problem a time or two, but not enough of one to keep us from choosing this vacation home again!!!! Thank you again for helping us check one more item from my mother in law's bucket list!!The Meadows Family, Richmond VA

Review Submitted March 19, 2012 Date of Stay March 9, 2012 This was our first time staying on Ft. Myers Beach and we couldn't have made a better choice than to stay at this fantastic house. It truly was like having a home away from home. We were able to enjoy Time Square for as long as we wanted and then go "home" to peace and quiet. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Because the location of the house is at the south end of the island, we were able to avoid the congestion at the north end when we wanted to leave or return to the island. Having a washer and dryer was a bonus for us. We would defintely stay here again. Rating: 5 out of 5 Respond to Review

What a great oasis! Elizabeth Todd Columbus, OH
Review Submitted February 13, 2012 Date of Stay January 27, 2012 We loved staying at Royal Palms. The owners have made sure that everything you need for a wonderful vacation is provided! Beach chairs, floats, beach towels, you name it. The house was sparkling clean, as was the pool. We had never been to Ft. Myers Beach before, and we were so very glad that Royal Palms was at the quiet, tranquil side of the island. While we enjoyed lounging at the pool and fishing in the canal, the beach across the street was wide and beautiful. Sunsets were breathtaking. Be sure to walk over to the Windjammer and enjoy a beverage or two while the sun sets. This house would be great for a family with small children, as the pool is just the right size for small kids, but plenty big enough to float around in! We cannot recommend Royal Palms enough - it was our personal oasis for a week and we loved it. The owners are so helpful and so nice. You cannot go wrong with this house. Two restaurants we can recommend are Doc Ford's and The Fish House. We also rented a boat from Snook Bight and they were helpful and friendly and have great boats for rent. If you want a quiet, relaxing get away, do not hesitate to stay at Royal Palms. Rating: 5 out of 5 Respond to Review

Review Submitted October 16, 2011 Date of Stay October 5, 2011 Our October 2011 stay at Royal Palms Getaway could not have been better. It has all of the comforts of home. Actually, it one upped us, it has a TV in the bedroom. It was very clean and organized. The pool was a must after sunning at the beach. In the hotter weather, make sure you let the hose in the back run before you rinse off. The water temperature could be very hot. We liked sitting on the dock on the bay, where we watched the wildlife and enjoyed the cool breeze. Highly recommend it. Having a washer and dryer is a great convenience. Thanks Don and Karen you are on the top of our list. Rating: 5 out of 5 Respond to Review

We loved this place. It's exactly as portrayed. We have two small children and it was perfect for the 4 of us. Everything was labeled. The air condition worked perfect. The pool in back was clean and nice. The house was very comfortable. Everything is on the strip if you're looking to just stay on Fort Myers Beach. There's a Publix grocery store near by and we stocked up on grocery. There's a movie theatre at the end of the street. The beach is near by and it's easy to get to. Parking is about $2.00 per every 2 hours (coins/meters). I would definitely stay here again next time I go to Ft. Myers Beach. We also went to Sanibel Island which was very nice. There was also laundry facilities, and a tv and dvd, which was great for the kids to watch a movie at night. there were pots/pans/utensils.

Great reunion get-away!

My friends (3) and I enjoyed our stay immensely. We did have a car which was good since the weather was rather chilly. Although we did not spend time at the beach, we did enjoy the poolside for lounging. The extra space was great for the four of us to spend individual time with one another. We ate our meals out, but glad to have the kitchen for snacks. Walking to Charley's, the Munch Box and church was great. We enjoyed the private stay...avoiding lobbies, elevators, noise, etc. Our plans are to return next season again. Thank you to the owners for providing such a special home-away-from-home atmosphere.

Just a quick note to say, "Thank You!" Mary and I really enjoyed the week in your home! The only bad thing was, the time went by too quickly! (:>)

We'll let others know about your rental.

PS. Nice and warm --- just how I like it!!

Greetings Karen,

I'm a little late in getting this to you, but just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our time at the royal palms. (May 16-23) The weather was not real cooperative, but we mangaged to have lots of fun anyhow. The royal palms is just as quaint as I remember from our first visit. Your cleaning crew does an excellent job as the place was sparkling, spic & span when we got there. However, I think you may want to check on your pool service. I don't think they were there to treat the pool. We left the screen door open on Tuesday, but there was still lots of sand in the pool from the week before, & no odor of chemicals in the pool.

Steve & I have begun the search for a home in the Ft. Myers area. We are determined to get a place we can retire to in a few years. I may be back in contact with you to find out how to rent by the week. There are so many beautiful homes available for a great price. We are a little over a year away from paying off our home in Ohio and want to have something ready for us to relocate to.

In the meantime, I'm sure we will be back to the royal palms as it is such a nice place to stay.
Take care, enjoy your summer and I will be in touch.

Regards,
Marsha Hubicz

Karen,

I stayed at your Beach Bungalow at beautiful Ft. Myers Beach the first
week of March. I'm an amateur photographer and took about 400 photos
while I was there, one of which I submitted to the Star Tribune
for their gallery of vacation photos. Well, they printed it in the Travel
Section of yesterday's paper (Sunday May 17th). It made me very happy to
be able to share my vacation memories with the paper's readers. Here's a
copy for your enjoyment. Feel free to use it anyway you wish to market
your wonderful beach house.

Karen

First off I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful time we had at the house! It was so hard to leave. We had a great time and appreciate you letting us stay at your house in March. I thank you! Janessa Sturtz

Hi Karen,
We are back home in MN. Thanks for sharing your house. We found it very nice. Clean, Quiet and everything was functional. My wife did turn the chime off in your clock so I hope no one thinks it doesn't work. She took great care doing this because we had read about the clock in the journals. It's just that she is a light sleeper especially away from home.
Don't know if our travel agent told you but we are teachers. I am retired from St. Cloud schools and my wife has one year until retirement. So we are looking to possibly retire in Florida and this was a great way to look around the area.
Thanks again, maybe we'll talk again.

Hi Karen-

We're moved in, all is grand and we're tickled with the place. Went for a walk on the beach just before sunset and ended up at the Tiki Bar at Outriggers. We thought we'd been picked up and moved to our other favorite place: Key West.

Thanks for the fine, clean place.

Amy

Karen and Don,

Thank you so much for renting the beach house. We loved our stay in FMB and look forward to a return visit in December. While we were in Florida we looked at buying a home in Fort Myers and to become full time residents of the city. We really enjoyed the rental beach house. The location was perfect for us. It was great that everything was provided in the kitchen and bath. It is a wonderful property and it made our vacation relaxing and comfortable.

We left only a small amount of laundry for the cleaning people and left the place exactly as we found it - SPOTLESS.

We appreciate the opportunity to stay there and will definitely recommend it to everyone we know heading to Florida.

Karen,

Just a quick note to say we had a great time. The cottage is very nice, you have it furnished beautifully, it's well maintained and clean. I will tell my friends about it and I'll come back again.

Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know we had a fabulous time in Florida and
wanted to say thank you again for the nice place to stay, my boys
absolutely loved the pool ; ) We are back in cold Michigan and we
wish we could have stayed a month.

Thank you again.

Hello Karen,

since about 09:00 am our time we are back home.

We enjoyed some great days in your lovely cottage! The weather was at its best - only sun and warm temperatures! So we could escape a little bit from our German winter (although it is not really cold over here) We felt really at home in your cottage and we used this great location for some day tours to explore Floridas great nature. It was definitely not the last time, that we came to Florida and in particular the Gulf coast.

We left your cottage as requested; hopefully Angela will not be kept too much busy thoughâ¦.

Again thanks a lot for giving your home to us! We really could relax. If you don´t mind, I will recommend your cottage to friend of mine and his family. They want to come over to Florida in May for two weeks and they are not sure, where to stay.

Very kind regards

Burkhard

Karen and Don,

We had a great time at your house and in Fort Myers Beach.
We would love to go back some day so you may hear from us again in a year or two.
Thank you for the opportunity to stay at your house.

Hi Karen:

Home now after a delightful weekend in your Ft Meyers Bch house. What a gem! The place was immaculately clean when we arrived, which was so appreciated. We have rented numerous vacation homes that while lovely, are always a bit dirty, or have itchy towels/sheets & very few kitchen items. Your house was just perfect. Lush towels, comfortable beds & everything imaginable in terms of kitchen utensils & gadgets! We loved the location. Just perfect for us for our weekend getaway. Maybe next summer, I'll book a week or two with the kids before school starts.

Karen and Don,

We returned to Minnetonka last night, and must tell you we were very sad to leave your lovely beach bungalow. It was one of the better vacations we have had. We tried to take great of everything. Please let us know if you or your Kathy found any problems. We would love to return someday. Greg told us that it is usually booked a year ahead of time. Nevertheless, we will check with you next year or the year after. Thanks again for making a wonderful one week vacation possible.

Hal Hanson and Kathy Spinner

Don /Karen many thanks for the rental of your wonderful house we had a great time the
weather was fantastic, once again thanks Graham Andrea and Lily

Sandi, just got home from your lovely Royal Palms and had a great time. Loved all the palm decorating, especially the quilt. We had perfect weather and got great tans, used the pool a lot and just relaxed. The organization in the house was great, easy to find anything that you needed, the bed was comfortable and we couldn't have asked for anything. Only downside to the whole trip was the travel on I75, very busy and horrendous in FA, it took us 10 hours to go 400 miles last Saturday. Anyway thanks for the great holiday, I will talk to you again. Sharon

Good Morning Karen ,
Hope all is well in your household.
The last time I e-mailed you I requested you to pencil us in again for 2008-I am not sure if you took me seriously.
We would like to book for Feb 10th to March 8th 2008 if possible Let me know a.s.a.p. and We can put a deposit down.
We just love your dollhouse here--and we truly appreciate the way you have decorated all over so cute and clean.
We are enjoying the birds and the quite, along with the sun.
Reading thru your guest book-I see everyone else has enjoyed you home too.
Hope to hear from you soon

Karen, sorry for the delay, things are a little hectic around here.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at your cottage. The furnishings were awesome, especially the clock in the living room. We went looking for the Sieko web site and are going to buy that same clock today. "Beautiful". We had rain off and on the first three days, which kept the pool cool. Last three days the water was HOT! , but we relaxed in it anyway. The place was so centrally located to all the sites we were interested in. We had no trouble finding and getting to all the attractions.
We looked at the house across the street, #159 had the realtors flyer on the sigh. $559,900! That's a big number. I didn't know we were in such high society.
We saw Sanibel and Captiva, Marco, Lovers Key, Charlies, Cheeburger, Cheeburger, Pinchers (Great!), Snook Inn (on Marco), and Mel's Diner.
We met Cpt. Peter Babb, at Island Charters (Port of the Islands) marina and fished 2 days for Snook, Reds, Speckled Trout. We also caught grouper, flounder, catfish, ladyfish, Jac Creval and yellowfin. We had a great time both days, but got sun and wind burns, which still haunt us a little bit.
On a scale of one to ten this week got a 10+. Hope you found the place taken care of properly.
Thanks for everything, looking forward to doing business with you all again.

Karen,
We had a great time, the boys loved it with the exception of a tremendous thunderstorm on the Monday night during which the electricity even flickered - it had them both crying to go back to Orlando and England!
They loved having the pool just outside the door and they were in it before we went out each day and last thing before they went to bed.
Thanks for allowing us to use your house, it was just what we needed after Disney and Universal.
Best wishes,
Julie
