Description of the Fort Myers Beach vacation home rental
Summertime is the great secret of Florida's Gulf Coast - and we're telling! This is the time the crowds have gone home, when the beautiful white beaches have fewer sunbathers, and restaurants and other venues compete for your custom. Take a walk at dawn to see the sea birds fishing, kayak in the back bay, search for shells at Lovers Key, or just relax poolside. It's all here for you.

4 bedroom, 3 bath waterfront pool home with heated pool. Desirable island location, one block from beach. On a canal with dock. Wi-Fi, Blu-Ray and Hi Def TV with Netflix..

This large, waterfront home is located just steps from the white sugar sand beaches of Fort Myers Beach. The home is very private and beautifully remodeled with two custom fireplaces and vaulted ceilings. The large open gourmet kitchen has everything you will need plus a breakfast bar and glass sliders to the pool area! We offer a huge heated pool and boat dock for your enjoyment. Fish from the dock and bring your kayak or jet ski and use our floating jet ski dock.

Only a 5 minute walk to the most wonderful sandy white beach. You don't need a rental car, as you are close enough to walk to beach and restaurants, shopping and night life while enjoying our quiet neighborhood. There is a trolley system on the beach on which you can ride up and down the 7 mile island, out to Lovers Key and into the city of Fort Myers.

The food, fun and shopping at Times Square is just over a mile away - close enough to visit easily and far enough away to avoid the noise. You will find the public fishing pier there, as well as many shops, restaurants, and bars. The beautiful white sand beaches of Fort Myers Beach are one short block from the house, as is a convenience store and small gym; the town recreation center, with tennis courts and a water park with a kid play area, the library, a grocery store, a liquor store, and several restaurants are within walking distance. The trolley, which runs the entire length of the island and goes out to Lovers Key State Park and into the city of Fort Myers, has a stop a block from the house.

With a king bed, a queen bed, two twins, a twin day bed with pop-up trundle and a queen sleeper sofa, you will have room for a crowd. The great room, with its unique curved fireplace, holds a table that expands to seat 8, with room for 4 more at the nine-foot peninsula in the kitchen section. The fireplaces are beautiful to look at, but are non-functional. We love them anyway.

There is an 18 hole executive golf course located on Ft. Myers Beach on the south end of the Island. There is also a movie theater, a gym, a community center, tennis courts and pool with a kid play area and play ground.

Quiet neighborhood located close to all Fort Myers Beach Attractions. You have it all! Because of severe allergies we cannot accommodate pets or smoking in the house. Come for a week or stay for the season. Fort Myers Beach welcomes you, and so do we. This is paradise!
Area Information
Fort Myers Beach is our favorite combination: small town friendly and tourist busy. The white sugar sand of the Gulf Coast beaches, which never get too hot even for bare toes, invite you to take a walk, watch the birds, look for porpoises playing in the waves, hunt for seashells, build a sand castle or relax with a book. The warm waters are perfect for waders and swimmers - even the youngest ones.

Are you active? There are fishing excursions, jet ski rentals, and parasailing close by. Run on the beach or bike along the street. There is golf - both miniature and otherwise. There are tennis courts and basketball courts. Kayak in the bay or fish in the Gulf.

For shoppers, there is everything from art galleries to swimsuit stores and at prices for every pocketbook.

If you must leave our happy island, the city of Fort Myers, Sanibel Island, and beautiful Naples are all within a half-hour's drive. Go shopping at outlet malls or in exclusive shops. Find one-of-a-kind art works. Go antiquing, or look for a bargain at a thrift store. Take in a baseball game during the winter season. Make your heart happy, and come back again next year.

The home is exactly as described. Four bedroom, two living areas and a large kitchen. Close walk to the beach, far enough away that you are not in all of the traffic but yet close enough to walk to most things. Grocery store three blocks away within walking distance. Love Ft Myers and Ft Myers Beach.

Owner's reply:

Thank you, Karen. We agree that Fort Myers Beach is the best! We hope to see you and your family again soon.

Lovelyvacation home in Fort Myers Beach

March 3, 2014

This house is in a great location, just a short walk to the beach. The beach was popular but not crowded. You have easy access from the beach to a local restaurant for lunch, dinner or a late afternoon drink on the beach or you can walk across the street to the convenience store. The house has a great room and a living room so, if you have a rainy day (We did not) there's a little more room for everyone and separate TVs. We appreciated the beach towels, many bath towels, cushion seating outside, the night lights all thru the house, the nicely stocked kitchen, the big garage for storing the beach chairs, our golf clubs, etc. We even used the little shopping cart to take a short walking trip to the local grocery. The pool is one of the best features of the house. It's big enough to swim short laps. The temperature was set at a comfortable level by the pool maintenance people. The solar cover is a plus. It may be a one person operation for removal, but is better with two people to put it back on the pool. This house is also a canal house. There was not much canal traffic that we saw, but the fish seemed to be very jumpy. We had some questions during our stay and Kathleen, one of the owners, was very responsive to our e-mails. It was obvious she wanted us to enjoy our stay and we really appreciate that. In all, we enjoyed our stay at this Shell Mound house very much.

Owner's reply:

Thanks, Janet! We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay. I was interested to hear that you brought down your bicycles and avoided the High Season traffic. The pool and dock are our favorite areas, and we are happy you enjoyed them. We look forward to your next visit.

Great family destination

January 21, 2014

We all loved staying at this beautiful home away from home. Great location for walks and fun on the beach, close to restaurants and shops and even a local art gallery! The home is well appointed and stocked with anything and everything we needed. Having a private dip in the backyard pool or sitting on the deck overlooking the canal was a bonus at the end of a wonderful beach day! Will definitely return! Thanks to wonderful hosts for the hospitality and recommendations for restaurants etc.

Jim and Kathleen Finderson

Owner's reply:

Thank you for your kind words, Laura. I'm so glad your family enjoyed our home; we love the house and the neighborhood, and are happy that you noted some of the things we like best, like the art gallery at the end of the block. We look forward to seeing you back again soon.

Great Florida Family Vacation!

December 31, 2013

We had a great time with two of my sisters and our families. Plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable. Great space for large family meals (and dishwasher makes clean up easy). Quiet neighborhood and house is very private and peaceful on the canal. We had a visit from a great Blue Heron - landed on the dock while three of us were sitting there appreciating the view. The heron spent at least 5 minutes looking at us then flew off again. Fabulous! Pool is large and great fun. Beach is just a short walk away. Plenty of towels and beach chairs, etc. Perfect spot for a family vacation. Thanks, Kathie and Jim!

Jim and Kathleen Finderson

Owner's reply:

I am so glad you had a good time, and the Great Blue Heron was, I'm sure, a special treat. I will look for him (her?) when we are on the dock, but it may have been a special visit just for the Greenes. I look forward to having the whole group back next year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I take my children for a fun, inexpensive day?
A: First, take children to the beach. When you load up the beach cart with chairs and towels, don't forget the shovels, pails and balls for the kids. And take some plastic bags to hold the shells you will find on your walk down the beach. If the kids have had enough of the beach for a while, Bay Oaks Recreational Center has a wonderful water park, tennis courts, soccer and more to keep them active and engaged.
Q: What will we like best about your vacation rental house?
A: The pool! It's huge, it's heated, and it is very private. It is big enough to swim short laps, or to have a game of pool ball or knights-on-noodles (the dunking game our "littles" like). If there is a rainy day or if you just don't want to be outside, our favorite spot indoors is the great room. You can play cards, watch TV, whip up margaritas, or just sit and chat.
Q: What is the best restaurant in Fort Myers Beach?
A: There are a lot of wonderful restaurants here. For breakfast, try the Heavenly Biscuit. For lunch or just to hang out near the fishing fleet, it's Doc Ford's Rum Bar and Grille or Parrot Key. My favorite evening spots are the Fresh Catch Bistro or Bayfront Bistro. But there are so many places to go. I find new favorites at least every couple of years.

Jim and I fell in love with Fort Myers Beach more than 25 years ago. For Jim, it feels like the small beach town he grew up in, and just driving over the bridge onto the island makes me happy. We walk on the beach every day we are there, and save occasional shells.
