Nearby Jaycee Park on the intercoastal- Indian River - has public boat ramps and other outdoor amenities such as tennis, basketball, children's playground equipment, and picnic tables. This public park is within 2 blocks of our beach house. 1 small pet allowed, Clean - All the comforts of home. No commercial vehicles with "writing" on the sides of the truck are allowed. Residential street. 3 TVs. DVD player and VCR with movies on the shelf. Shaded backyard patio with electric BBQ. NO smoking.

Fort Pierce is located about an hour 's drive north of West Palm Beach within close proximity to the gorgeous Atlantic Ocean beaches. This lovely community has a definite rural feel, focusing on ranching and citrus farming. There are several worthwhile places to visit in Fort Pierce, along with excellent local restaurants, entertainment and lodging choices. The Fort Pierce Inlet State Recreation Area is located on the north shore of the Fort Pierce Inlet. This 340-acre park with sand dunes and a coastal hammock provides swimming, fishing, hiking, biking and picnicking. Savannahs State Park is a semi-wilderness area with campsites, a petting zoo, botanical gardens and a boat ramp. Downtown Farmer's Market every Saturday morning. Other attractions near Fort Pierce include the UDT Navy Seals Museum, Heathcote Botanical Gardens, Jack Island Wildlife Refuge and the St. Lucie County Historical Museum. Fort Pierce is within close driving distance of several lovely golf courses and an easy two-hour drive to all of the Orlando attractions, including Walt Disney World.

The northern tip of what is known as the "Treasure Coast" of Florida, lies south of Cape Canaveral on the Atlantic coastline. Yearly rainfall in this area is 50-55 inches, with September being the "the rainy month," and June, July, August and October follow next. The semi-tropical climate of this area becomes quite warm and humid in summertime with lots of short, fast moving thunderstorms. Onshore breezes help keep it from getting too hot. Late fall, winter and early spring are delightfully warm and sunny with cool evenings.
