You are invited to come and relax in our beautiful cottage in the quaint little town of Franklin, Maine. Wildlife abounds in this beautiful setting where Mill Brook empties into Taunton Bay. You can relax on the deck as you keep your eye out for egrets, bald eagles, blue herons or an occasional seal or two. Enjoy fresh steamed Maine lobster or clams right on your own deck, or cook a BBQ dinner on the grill, while appreciating the convenience of a fully equipped kitchen. After a long day of exploring, hiking, biking or boating , you can come home and relax in the whirlpool tub. What makes our cottage the perfect choice for your stay is the location. We are centrally located and an easy commute to the popular sites in the area but off the beaten path with the solitude that Maine is known for.

Area Description

Franklin is the perfect central location for exploring the beautiful Downeast coast of Maine. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are only 25 mi. away. In the opposite direction, roughly 19 mi. away, are Winter Harbor and Acadias Schoodic Peninsula - what many people call the most beautiful, undiscovered, part of Acadia National Park. Only 10 minutes away is the town of Ellsworth, known as the Gateway to the Downeast Region, where you will find all of the conveniences of a larger town. Ellsworth is the home of an LL Bean outlet, grocery stores, the Grand Theatre, and many fine restaurants featuring: Seafood, Greek, Italian, Mexican and Thai, to name a few. Twenty minutes on the other side of Ellsworth is Blue Hill, home to a multitude of art galleries, artisans and the renowned Kneisel Hall Chamber Music School. Close to our cottage, you will find kayak and canoe rentals with which to explore the beautiful coastal waters. We are convinced that you will fall in love with all that this area has to offer and will call Taunton Bay Cottage your "home away from home" for many years to come.
