Description of the Franklin vacation home rental

This warm welcoming home is located on George's Pond in Franklin. There are 4 separate bedrooms, upstairs there is a large master bedroom with a king size bed, reading area and cable tv, another bedroom with 2 twin beds and a 3rd bedroom with a queen bed. Down stairs there is a fully equiped kitchen with a breakfast nook, a living room with cable tv/dvd/vhs and dining area,a full bath and another bedroom with a double bed. There is a large wrap around deck facing the lake and another small deck off the kitchen. The house sits on 2 lots so you also have a large yard with a dog run. There is another cottage on the left but there are trees separating the properties and another one on the right that is empty 51 weeks of the year, so you have plenty of privacy. You have a private beach with a dock, and there is a public beach and boat launch within easy walking distance of the house. You have a wonderful view of the lake and Cadillac "mountain" from the deck, the master bedroom and the down stairs bedroom. Sit on the deck with your first cup of coffe and watch the morning mist rise off the lake, listen to the resident loons call to each other and plan your day. The swimming is fun and fishing great so bring your "toys" and enjoy the lake. We have a canoe that you can use and there is a rental place just a few miles from the cottage where you can rent kayaks and more canoes. In the evening sit by the fire pit and toast marshmelows, have a sing-a-long or just enjoy the peace and quiet. Have young chidren? There is a large yard for them to play in, "woods" (some trees on the property) for them to explore, ducks to feed, fish to catch and beach toys to play with. All this without even leaving the cottage!
There is a phone with free nationwide calling and wireless internet as well as cable tv.

We are only 10 minutes from Ellsworth and 25 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park and about 15 to 30 minutes from several picturesque local towns. There are lots of things to do in the area including hiking, biking, fishing, swimming or exploring the local areas. From our cottage you can easily do several days tours. Take a ferry and your bikes to one of our local islands, take a whale watching cruise or go out on a lobster boat and see how they catch lobsters. Head over to Bar Harbor and check out Acadia National Park. Or head downeast and and go to Campbello Island and Roosvelt Cottage, or pack a picnic lunch and explore the local towns. There is a small zoo about 15 minutes from us and several towns have museums that are free or by donation.

We have a small local winery the has won several awards that is in Steuben, which is about 20-25 minutes from the cottage, there is a large play ground for children in Ellsworth as well as an LL Bean outlet store, 2 large grocery stores, a super walmart and several other stores for shopping. You can buy lobsters and cook them right at the cottage or go to one of the local restraunts and let them do the cooking. There is a Thai Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a Mexican restaurant and several American restaurants in Ellsworth. There is also a small convience store right in Franklin, with a small restaurant attached to it. They have wonderful breakfast and sandwiches at very reasonable prices.

• Deposits: $150 security deposit or $200 if bringing pets. Deposit is required to confirm reservation and will be returned within 10 days of check out once cleaning service has determined there is no damage to the property.
   
• Other Fees: There is a $100 cleaning fee with an extra $100 charge for cleaning if there is smoking in the home and an extra $50 if the pet owner doesn't clean up after pets.

We spent last week at this home and had a wonderful time! The girls (ages 5, 6,7) went swimming every day and really enjoyed feeding momma and baby ducks (2 loaves of bread in 2 days!. Dave caught a 3# small mouth bass which made his week and I really enjoyed sitting on the deck admiring the view and reading. If you have kids definately check out the Discovery Museum in Bangor (it's awesume!) but skip the Oceanarium in Bar Harbor (boring). We went hiking and canoeing almost daily. Also check out Robertson's Sea Tours, we did the lobster one and everyone had a great time!! The house is big enough that we could spread out and with 2 TV's the girls could watch what they wanted and Dave could catch the news and his games! We played several board games also which is something that I must admit we don't usually do and the girls throughly enjoyed that. Candyland quickly became a nightly game. Enjoyed the books and left a couple to add to your collection. We will definately be back!

Was a great stay. Me and some army buddies did some fishing, pulled some small mouth and others. Getting to the cottage was easy, directions weren't to complex. Lots of space inside and out. The view was beautiful. We had a real good time and will be back next year.
