Description of the Franklin vacation cabin rental

5 bedroom, 3 bath log home with it's own private ruby mine. This home was built on part of the old "Jacob's Ruby Mine" property in world famous Cowee Valley. It offers easy access from a paved road on a gently sloping 2 acre lot. The home offers 5 bedrooms and 3 baths on two levels. The main level has the greatroom and kitchen as well as two bedrooms and a common bath. One of these bedrooms has a king bed and the other has a queen bed. Up stairs you'll find the master bedroom and bath with a king bed. There are two other bedrooms upstairs, one witha queen, the other has a twin and a full size bed. Outside, you walk down to your own private flume with enough seating and equipment for six people. The piles of virgin ore provided were dug right onsite and the rubies, saphires, and other gemstones you find in that ore were only put there by the hand of God. Just bring your toothbrush and a change of clothes. We supply all linens, paper products, soap products, common condiments, gas for the BBQ grill, complimentary coffee, firewood for the campfire, and much much more. Very close to world famous Sheffield Ruby Mine and Cherokee Ruby Mine. Free wi-fi.

Area Information

The 2 acre creek-front lot has a large swingset and plenty of room for the kids to roam. Close to few remaining ruby mines that offer native gemstones from world famous Cowee Valley. Away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to all shopping, dining and entertainment conveniences. Just 10 miles from downtown Franklin.

This cabin and adjoining property is a dream spot for anyone interested in prospecting for gem quality North Carolina rubies. The cabin is spacious with room for a large family gathering, and the yard is rich in gems.

We rented Cabin One from Carl Bates for one week in July. It was wonderful, clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything we needed. No surprises. We had a group of six, the cabin could easily have held more people. The flume area was great. Our only complaint was that the dirt pile should be fluffed up and renewed.

My family spent a fun and relaxing week here. We did the mining, looked at the falls and leaves and hiked trails. The cabin is easy to find in a beautiful location. We had a very positive experience with the owner and had no problems that interfered with our week. As with any place there are a few minor issues but none that required owner attention during our stay. Good for groups up to 10.

Great little out of the way getaway, right down in the mountain valley. Cozy and well equipped, the creek runs right through the front yard.
