"The Bates Estate"

Bates Cabins- Smoky Mountain Cabin Rentals are nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains forest on part of our 60 acre parcel, this large vacation home is perfect for multi-family or other large groups. It is situated by itself but still within walking distance of Cabins 2, 4, and 5 which makes it prefect for family reunions or other large groups that require more accommodations close by. From the large sundeck the view of Cowee Valley and the mountain on the opposite side is great.

There are three large master bedrooms, one on the main level and two more downstairs. The house features handmade rustic handrails and a bridge in the middle of the main greatroom that connects the two loft bedrooms upstairs.. The master bathroom on the main floor features a Jacuzzi tub for a relaxing soak. On the west side of the house is a huge 24 ft. x 28 ft. deck for entertaining your friends or just relaxing taking in the wildlife. Wildlife that can often been seen from the wrap around porch include Hummingbirds, deer, turkey, chipmunks, and squirrel. A bird study by the University of Georgia was recently conducted here. In that study the identified 64 songbird and woodpecker species. And at night, if you're lucky, you might see the shy, nocturnal flying squirrel. For the kids this log cabin rental offers a small yard with a swing set as well as trampoline with protective netting.

For the gem mining enthusiast this log cabin rental is situated between close to two mines still open here in Cowee Valley. Sheffield Mine, featured on the travel channel, is about 2 1/2 miles east. Cherokee Mine, where the largest star ruby ever found in North America was found a few years ago, is directly across the street from us. Also close to Cabin A is Cowee Valley Lapidary where you can have your gem stones professionally cut and set.

All of our Smoky Mountains log cabin vacation rentals are kid friendly and pet friendly. Each of our vacation homes has a pac-n-play, highchair, and stroller as well as safety gates and/or child-proof door knobs that restrict their access to stairs. The gates on the porches act to keep your pets restricted and safe as well. Free wi-fi.

Close to few remaining ruby mines that offer native gemstones from world famous Cowee Valley. Away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to all shopping, dining and entertainment conveniences. Just 10 miles from downtown Franklin.
