Description of the Franklin vacation chalet rental

Surrounded by the beauty of the Nantahala National Forest, this lovely home is located only three miles north of Franklin, N.C. in the private community of Swiss Colony. This cathedral ceiling chalet offers two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a game room with all the comforts of home to enjoy while you are vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains.

We are open all year round, so anytime you visit you will always be close to many activities that will keep your day busy. Or you may decide to just sit back and relax on the large front porch or by the warmth of the fireplace.

Area Information

Nestled in North Carolina’s southern mountains, in the foothills of the Great Smokies, the area offers a unique change of pace, a never-ending supply of things to do.

Franklin is large enough to offer almost everything you need, yet small enough to offer the highest quality of life. While the area is famous for is rural beauty, it is by no means isolated. Franklin is situated along major highways US 23/441 and US 64, with easy access to major interstates I-40, I-26 and I-85. Atlanta, Georgia is just 127 miles to the south, while Knoxville, Tennessee is only 110 miles to the north and Asheville, NC is 65 miles to the east.

The natural heritage of Franklin is not limited to mountain scenery and wildlife. The area is rich in gems and minerals. The famous Cowee Valley north of Franklin lures thousands each year to its mines which yield valuable stones to lucky miners annually. You’ll also find other gem mines located throughout the area. Among the native stones found are ruby, sapphire and garnets just to name a few.

What a wonderful time with God and His creation.

I really loved being in the mountains this week. The cabin was everything I ask for and more. The hiking trails and the walks down & up the rock roads was more than anyone would need to find peace and reflect on life. I truly left there a better person and will be coming back again next year for some more wonderful down time. One more thing, the cabin was beautiful, inside and out, I loved it and if was well worth the stay. Many thanks to my temp landlords. Spring time in the mountians

Spring is a great season to stay at the Mountain Swiss Chalet. The Chalet is in a very natural wooded setting that comes alive with all colors at this time.The evenings are still cool enough for the use of the fireplace, adding to the cozy, comfortable feeling of the Chalet. We just stayed for a week last week and it was wonderful. You feel like you are at home the moment you walk in only better. It is decorated beautifully and has absolutely everything you would need. It is so cozy and quiet and the colors were absolutely beautiful. We plan on visiting again perhaps in the spring and the fall next year. A week in the mountians

We had a great time . the chalet was so homey we felt at home from the minute we arrived. The leaves were falling all around and the fireplace was warm and cozy. Beds were most comfortable and all we needed was supplied....the only complaint was the l3 steps up to the door and the 13 steps up to the loft....coming from Florida we are used to all one level.....but all in all, it was a great week.

We planned our vacation in January to stay at the Chalet - couldn't wait for the time to go once again to Franklin! The Chalet is located in a highly wooded area - with sounds of nature that really make you so tranquil and thankful to be there! I loved the location - because we had privacy, but yet it was close to mining, dining and shopping! Hilda was wonderful and aswered all my e-mails immediately.
