Reviews for this vacation home rental in Franklin, North Carolina

By Teddi Silver (Landenberg, PA)
The house surpassed our expectations and the owners doubly so. We were two female friends, who wanted to go gem mining & sightseeing in NC. What we found were two owners that we had great conversations with, made us very welcome & gave suggestionson on what to see. Tom is a fisherman who can tell you all about the fishing (next time I will bring my waders). Carol is an incredible artist who has decorated the house with her creations. The house has everything you could imagine. We would like to have taken the beds home with us- they were so comfortable. The sunsets were awesome and the house location was so tranquil. It was in a great location for heading in whatever direction you wanted to go.....and we were on many a backroad with magnificent views. We would go back there again in a heartbeat! I have rented many houses across the US and in Canada, and this by far, was the best!

By Nancy (Lansing, MI)
Our trip was great, the cabin (really it was a beautiful home) was top of the line with all the amenities of home. The view from the porch couldn't be beat. I have recommended this property to a bunch of my friends and coworkers already.

 Girl's Weekend, April 28, 2009
By Sheree Fugate (Tallahassee and Gainesville Florida)
My friend and Eve and I wanted a place to spend some fun time-minus kids, husbands, pets.. or is that redundant? Anyway, our long weekend at Tom's place was wonderful, we got much more than we imagined. We spent our days out canoing, gold-mining, and antique aka junque shopping; evenings were spent in front of the fireplace watching movies or just yakking. Their attention to detail helps make it an "easy" vacation spot, Tom and his wife are great. We want to come back again this year. (Can we keep a clock this time? Just kidding.. !)

Beautiful place to stay!, April 6, 2009
By The Malenfant family (Jacksonville, Florida)
My husband, 2 kids and I just returned from our fun filled week! The house was beautifully decorated, well equipped and very comfortable - a great place to stay! The location was also perfect for us. During our stay, we spent time in Cherokee, Bryson City, Franklin, Highland and even went to Dollywood (2 hrs away) in Pigeon Forge, Tn! We enjoyed GEM mining the most! Tom and Carol made everything (the rental process, etc.) very easy and comfortable for us. We would definitely stay again! Thanks!

 What a View, January 7, 2009
By Ignacio Morrell (Lakeland, FL USA)
Our family loves to go to North Carolina to celebrate Christmas. There is nothing better than the mountain pace for this holiday and your home was absolutely fabulous. Well located for all the activities we were looking for - hiking, window shopping in a fun North Carolina village and relaxing with the best mountain and river views around. Thanks for a great time and a really beautiful and comfortable home for our vacation.

Motorcycle trip "base camp", October 15, 2008
By MELANIE STRUBBLE (Havana, FL USA)
This house was great!! Beautiful views off of the back porch!! Close to the river; our favorite!! A perfect starting & ending location for riding all the nearby, excellent, curvy roads!! All the necessities (gas, grocery, eateries) are nearby. The paved/asphalt road & driveway were the best!! Perfect for bikes!! The house was well equipped (pots, pans, linens, etc)and beautifully furnished. Also, extremely clean. Tom (owner) was extremely nice, helpful, and accomodating. We couldn't have been happier with our whole experience!!! We all four would highly recommend this house and owner. You won't be disappointed!!!

Great Home with Great Location, September 2, 2008
By The Dill Family (Orlando)
We were absolutley in love with the place. There was plenty of room and great views. We spent most of our time on the back porch taking in the mountains. The house is centrally located to town and attractions. The Owners are wonderful to deal with and provided great communication to make our arrival a breeze. We will stay here again the next time we come to Franklin.

NC Motorcycle Trip, August 10, 2008
By Steve Hardeman (Brooksville Fl 34601)
Not only was the home in a perfect location for riding the NC mountains the home itself was perfect. There were 5 of us men with more than ample room to meet all our needs. We are already talking about renting the home next year and perhaps bringing our wifes. I would highly recommend renting the home for anyone looking for a beautiful fully equiped home with a great location and view on Hwy 28 outside of Franklin NC.

 NICE!!!!!, July 30, 2008
By Delma Wright (Sarasota Florida)
We stayed at this mountain home the week after the 4th of July. It was beautiful, comfortable, and was located just where we needed it to be! Close to everything but still had some beautiful views. It was very relaxing especially early in the morning, watching the fog roll over the mountains and the sun come up. The owners were very attentive to every need. I would stay here again!!! Tom, thanks for letting us rent your place. We really enjoyed it.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY, July 25, 2008
By Greg Harris (Rocky Mount, NC)
My family stayed here for a week and it was one of the best places we have stayed at while in the mountains. The house was very spacious and well kept. We played ping pong downstairs after our outings for the day. We had a fantastic view of the river and were within short distance to everything. We would definitely stay again. Thanks for letting us enjoy your home.

Our Franklin Vacation, July 20, 2008
By Gorga's (New Port Richey, FL)
Our entire family really enjoyed this spectaclur vacation home with all the x-tra's. We would definetely recomment this to anyone wanting to have a laid back vacation bonding with your family and friends. We would recommend the "Mason Mines" for gem mining...we had great luck and are having several pieces of jewelry made. Tom and Carol were wonderful to deal with and we felt right at home. We would definately return here for another vaction, perhaps in another season to see the difference in the view. Again, this is a wonderful rental home.

By Betty & Doug (St. Louis, Missouri)
Tom and Carol, Thanks so much for sharing your home for vacationers. This was the first time ever renting a house I/O staying in a hotel/motel and I would never ever think of a hotel again. Your home felt like our home because after a long day of gem mining or just playing in the river/fishing..we would be tired and say "lets go home". Also, the view from the deck was wonderful.Doug and I would get up around 5am, pour our coffee and go outside to the fresh cool morning air and just enjoy. It never got too hot or was never humid, and the air smelled so fresh like flowers. The Kids had a great time as well. Doug and I are trying to plan a time to come back in the fall where we could absorb the mountains fall colors and do some more Gem mining....again, thank you for sharing your home. It was nicely decorated, simple, and a pefect feng shui. And this was all so enjoyable even after I sprained my foot three days into the vacation. We will be back... :) Betty, Doug, Brittany & Austin

 "Gem" of a Home!, June 28, 2008
By Diane & Todd Hansen & Family (Port Washington, WI USA)
Gem Capitol of North Carolina. The house was Great! We felt sooo at home here. We just loved sitting on the deck a.m. and p.m. and looking out at the mountains! While we were here we tried our hand at gem mining (found some small stones to take home), went white water rafting (our First time) and took an overnite trip to Wilmington(saw the Battleship North Carolina... Awesome!) Coming back to the house each nite was just like coming home!! We did have Ping Pong competition every nite ( the youngsters won!) We would definitly stay here again if we're ever in the neighborhood! Tom and Carol were friendly, helpful and very Gracious through the whole renting process! This was our first vacation rental, and if everyone else are like the Hopkins',we will surely rent again!! Thanks so Much!! The Hansen Family

This home is beautiful, beautifully maintained, and has a gorgeous view of the river and the mountains. The owners have been most gracious in all of their dealings with us. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the mornings and evenings gazing at the splender before us! We met our children and grandchildren here and everyone loved the house.

 A Vacation worth remembering! , October 22, 2007
By Walt Elliott (Largo, Florida USA)
The home was beautiful. It was clean and very comfortable. We used the home as our home base and visited National Park, Cherokee, Franklin, Waynesville, Slva and other towns in the area. We enjoyed Sunday lunch at the Jarett House in Slva, golf at the Franklin Golf Club and the new arrivals in the National Park. Elk. We saw about 25 head. There were also 2 deer sited at the house. We had a great time and would not hesitate to go back and stay in the house.

By Jennifer Heald (Chicago, IL)
This was a great home. Nice furnishings, especially in the kitchen. Located close enough to local attractions, but out of the way enough for privacy. I would definately recommend it.
