Description of the Freeport vacation cottage rental

“Downeast... So close...”

Located on the harbor in South Freeport, Maine, less than 30 minutes from the Portland airport, you’ll find the quintessential “Downeast” Maine experience typically only found much further north and the Harraseeket Boathouse Cottages. Actually situated over the picturesque Harraseeket River which flows into Casco Bay, the Harraseeket Boathouse, was originally constructed in 1813 and is the oldest documented structure in South Freeport today. Its colorful history includes being used by “rum runners” during prohibition to smuggle liquor from arriving boats to a nearby resort. It was lovingly rebuilt in 2005 as a completely unique, private luxury residence. Two adjacent lovely guest cottages “Heron” and “Osprey” have also been newly appointed. Together they accommodate up to 10 guests and are available for rent.

Unique to any other property on the coast of Maine, the Harraseeket Boathouse Cottages are now available as luxury rentals or for special events. For additional information and photos please visit maineboathouse.

Terrific Getaway!

Our family had a pre-Christmas gathering at the "Boathouse" coming in from all parts of the US. We totally enjoyed the venue with spectacular views, superb accomodations and closeness to local shopping/dining. I highly recommend the "Boathouse" to any group or family for the perfect place to stay.

A:Anything outdoors and near the water. Kayaking from our dock is a favorite activity. Kayaks and bikes are available locally and can be delivered and picked up. Also swimming, biking, and visiting the nearby marinas, Town dock, and lobster pound which is only a short walk away.

A:They are totally unique being literally ON the water in Maine, which itself is a vacation wonderland.
