Description of the Galveston vacation guesthouse rental
Although we do not boast a gulf view, the beach is close and on most days you hear the roar of the surf. Depending on the season the sky can be full of majestic pelicans and most everyday you'll find lazy seagulls and loud mouth grackles.
Jamaica Dream is located in The Village of Jamaica Beach on a secluded end of a dead end street within walking distance of the beach. It is ideally suited for families with very little car traffic making it safe for bicycle riding and walking.
The papaya trees are in bloom and full of fruit, and there are herbs in the herb garden that you are more than welcome to pick.
A covered private patio is in the fenced yard and accessible by the back door. There are flower gardens and an outdoor shower and room for your dog to run.
Jamaica Dream is the ground floor of a duplex and is available when family or friends are not staying. I live upstairs with my two dogs and one cat who have their own yard. Other than their occasional barking and possibly passing us in the driveway you'll hardly know we're here.
We are a short walk to the beach, Baptist and Catholic churches, gift shops, hardware store, liquor store, bar, restaurant and convenience stores. Less than 3/4 mile west is a full grocery store. We are two blocks from city hall, the police station, fire department and EMS.
Area Information
Must love dogs! The Villiage of Jamaica Beach is a very dog friendly little town. However, there is a leash law and dogs are not permitted to roam.
A nice area in the back of the neighborhood offers bank fishing where I have caught flounder, red fish, sand and speckled trout, croaker, gar and whiting. There is also a free boat launch with a short canal trip to access West Bay.

Relaxing

We very much enjoyed the week. Donna, her family and neighbors are most friendly and gracious. We Norwegians from Minnesota were thrilled to be invited and had a great time at the neighborhood gathering featuring boiled crawdads, grilled lobster and shrimp. The guest house is very clean and pleasant and provided everything one could want. If conditions allow we would like to return, possiibly in December or again next Spring.

Vacation just as we pictured it

The guesthouse is accurately described on the web-site. My husband and I, and our two dogs spent a very relaxing week in Jamaica Dream. Donna, the owner, is a very nice and helpful person. She lives upstairs, but the guesthouse is very private, and we felt that we had a piece of paradise for ourselves. What we liked the most is that the house is very comfortable and tastefully decorated, the garden is beautiful and lovingly taken care of, and yet everything was sturdy, so we did not need to worry that a dog can ruin something. The beach is only a couple of minutes away walking. I actually prefer this location to the ocean-front because we had several very stormy days, and it was much more comfortable to be a bit farer from the storm. We liked is so much that we are planning to be back in November.

Paradise in Jamaica Beach

My Hubby and I got to spend Jan. with our two Scotties, at the most amazing Jamaica Dream! The only bad part was having to leave. Donna, the owner, made us feel right at home. I felt like we had known her forever! Very sweet person! She kept the cottage spotless. Millie and Mazie loved the fenced yard. We loved all the beautiful plants, roses, and the sound of the ocean waves. Jamaica Beach is very quiet and neighbors are very friendly. Walking on the beach, a Police officer even stopped and gave me a very pretty little shell! The cottage is decorated so pretty and is one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed. The bed was very comfy and was nice to have the washer & dryer. We loved everything and would not change anything! The kitchen has everything you might need. We hope to come back someday. We miss Jamaica Dream and Donna! Thank You for taking such good care of us!

First time to stay at Jamaica Dream--fantastic experience! Beautiful decor, quiet atmosphere, and Donna is a gem! Our two dogs loved being with us, too. (Thanks for being flexible, Donna!) I highly recommend this guest house if you want a quiet getaway, with an option to bring your dog. It really is a dream come true!

This was our first stay at the Jamaica Dream and it most certainly will not be our last! Donna was an amazing hostess and everything was PERFECT...we could not have asked for more! My husband and I, along with our 8 year old twin boys and two dogs, felt very at home here. Everything we needed was there. We loved having a washer and dryer, too...it was so nice to be able to keep up with the laundry and not be faced with tons of dirty clothes when you get home. Donna was great to recommend the best places to eat, where to go and what to do. I really can't say enough good things about Donna and the Jamaica Dream! If you are coming to Galveston for a romantic getaway, a girls weekend or a family vacation, the Jamaica Dream is the perfect place for your stay!

Once again we had an awesome time at Jamaica Dream. I would like to say it was our 4th but maybe 5th? time to visit? You know it is like home when you can't remember, except that you want to go back ASAP!! Atmosphere, colors, layout, ammenities, JD has it all. Donna is more a friend now besides being an excellent hostess. The accommodations have ALWAYS been perfect, and everytime we go, there is a new "little something" that we notice, making our stay even better. I have a hectic demanding job and relaxing here is a given. My Old English, LLahso Apso, sister, daughter and myself had a great time this last visit celebrating my daughters college graduation. We have come to love the laid back quality of the village as well as discover a new restaurant, shopping spot, beach place, everytime we come. I am so thankful we found Jamaica Dream and Donna. After writing this, I am booking another stay in October....just a heads up Donna!!! :) Would refer and have referred to families, couples, singles, et al. We could all use a "Jamaica Dream"

This beach house was truly a dream getaway! Donna could not be a better host. She was there to greet us and show us around her lovely place. Gave great suggestions on places to go & things to see. It was so nice to see a place so equipped with so many things. So many times I have stayed at a beach house and forget something & have to improvise with something else. She has everything you could possibly need and more! You can tell there was a lot of thought put into this place and its very well maintained! I wish we could have stayed longer! Looking forward to future visits!

We stayed here for 5 days and Donna had made it unforgettable! We definitely like to come back here. It's exactly like the pics show and immaculately clean throughout. Everything you need is there and the whole place breathes her hospitality. Our two dogs felt right at home as well. Wonderful little place! Our family really enjoyed staying at the Jamaica Dream. It was nice to stay at a place where the family lived above us, but we rarely ever saw them. Also, it was nice to have our own driveway and that we weren't that far from San Luis Pass and well away from the City of Galveston.

I stayed here with my family, and our family pet, this place is amazing, Donna the host is a great person!! WE came from SD and whatever we did not have she did for us to use!! We will be going back in a few years and will book this place. This house is decorated so nice and all around a fun and awesome place to stay. People of Galveston are also very nice and as well as Jamaica Beach. Problem we had was we brought too many cloths, there is a washer & dryer that work so good you don't need to bring alot!! This truly, is a slice of paradise. A wonderful backyard, with hammock, beautiful flowers, & you can even hear the ocean waves crashing on the shore, even though you're two blocks away. She provides everything you need for you stay (dishes, pots/pans etc.) as well as boogie board, chairs for the beach, & a golf cart to get you there. We will definitely be going back! She is very hospitality & the neighborhood is very friendly as well. My husband, I & our little schnoodle really enjoyed ourselves :)

This cottage was perfect for a long week end get away after Christmas. My dogs had their own garden and I really enjoyed not having to walk them several times a day. It was well equiped and so comfortabel. The dogs and I will be back!

I stayed here in the winter with dog and boyfriend in tow. The owner is wonderfully sweet and accommodating, the house is spotless and tastefully decorated with all the amenities you could possibly need. Beach is two blocks away, and the house itself has a fenced garden with a hammock and flowers blooming even in the middle of the winter. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

This place was much nicer than the pictures depicted. It is truly a secluded, romantic place to get away from it all. The landlord, Donna, was completely accomodating. Although there is a golf cart for trips to the beach, we chose to walk. It is truly a Jamaica Dream. Imaculately kept. And was great to have our doggies with us. Close drive to everything, but far enough away from the crowds. Highly recommended. We will definitley be back

This was our second trip to Galveston, both times staying at Jamaica Dream. Each stay was wonderful. This past trip, the weather was perfect - warm enough to get in the water but cool enough to relax on the beach all day. Jamaica Dream is a spacious one bedroom with a small kitchen and is located on the west end of galveston. It's a little bit of a drive to the "action" of galveston, but on the beach its super quiet. Both trips we've practically had the beach to ourselves! Donna is a wonderful host - she made sure we had everything we needed. This trip she had also made a new purchase - a golf cart for guests to use to get to the beach (it's only 4 blocks). Last time we walked, which wasn't far but it was so nice not having to carry all of our stuff this time. Highly recommended and worth the drive!!

My husband and I stayed here for his r&r and had the best getaway. the rental home is beautiful and the beaches were so relaxing! We even brought our dog and had plenty of room and no worries for him. i definitely recommend this home for anyone visiting galveston.

What an amazing vacation! We stayed last weekend with our labrador and had the most fantastic time. The house was exactly as the pictures showed and Donna couldn't have been nicer. We grilled, swam and laid in the hammock listening to the waves for a wonderful long weekend we will never forget. We will definitely be back!

I stayed here with my boyfriend over the weekend and couldn't have asked for better accommodations! The cottage is clean, unique and well-equipped, the beach is a short walk away, and Donna was great! I hope I get the chance to stay here again!

I loved it! It was very clean and well taken care of. It was very quiet and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Galveston, which was perfect, but only a 5 minute drive to Galveston. Donna was very sweet. I will definatly go back!

Jamacia Beach Cottage is a very lovely beach house, beach is close and Donna was great and even let us use her beach chairs and air mattress. The futon is comfortable and the bed is very comfortable, loved the bathroom and the porch and fenced in yard, I will definitly be back, I want to live here!

We would like to go back and live there. It was a wonderful experience. A lovely small cottage, with a lovely little fenced back yard with a hammock that the two granddaughters fought over. Nice, new stove, refrigerator, bathroom fixtures. Small, yet functional. Beachy colors and ambience. The landlady (Donna) is nice and laid back. we will be back!

Love this place! Just about the time you realize you need something, there it is! Truly, Donna has this cottage set up with creature comforts beyond what you'd expect. She is quite flexible, there if you need her, but otherwise the place is your home away from home. I took 3 teens down and could let them explore & bike around the neighborhood safely, and the beach.......just a stone's throw across the street. Prices being comparable or less than a motel, it's a total no brainer. The place is immaculate, easy pull out sofabed plus a darling designated private bedroom, big bathroom with laundry, even a hammock & swing in a cute fenced yard. It's a complete vacation package. Go for it!

It was wonderful, we were traveling with a dog and it was perfect for him, he loved the little yard. Very nice, clean peaceful spot. Donna was very nice as were her neighbors. We loved it and if ever we returned to Galveston would try to rent here again.

My husband and I stayed here at the end of February and it was so much more than I had thought it would be. It has a perfect sized yard so we were able to bring our two dogs with us and they also had a blast. Outside of downtown, it was quiet and so peaceful. Just a few minutes walk to the beach (less than 5min) and a short drive to nearby dining options (although we didn't eat out- we used the kitchen at the cottage). We plan on staying here every time we visit Galveston now. It was so much better than just a hotel room. Perfect getaway for the family!

My boyfriend and I went for Christmas weekend. The pictures are exactly what it looks like, and it is the cutiest, most romantic little cottage ever. We spent most of our time out on the porch looking at the gated garden surronding us.I recommend this place to all couples who are in love.

We loved jamaice dream. Donna was wonderful and very accomadating. The place is beautiful, relaxing. we had a family of 5 and we still fit okay and prepared an entire thanksgiving dinner. It was clean and well maintained, close to the beach, park and a short drive to galveston. We will definately be back in the summer. Thanks Donna.
