Description of the Galveston vacation home rental

Brand new construction. 2-story, custom home sits on prime ocean front property in the sleepy village of Surfside Beach, 35 miles south of Galveston. Nestled in the dunes on a large private lot, we are footsteps away from the ocean. Decks surround 3 sides of the home and all 4 bedrooms open out to a deck. Home is open and airy, you've got a great view of the ocean as soon as you open the front door. Beautiful and well equipped kitchen overlook the living room - the whole space was designed with entertaining in mind. 42" Plasma screen tv in living room, tvs in master bedrooms + dvd, basic cable, outside speakers to listen to your favorit music on the deck.

Surfside Village is a small beach town on the Texas Gulf Coast, population 700. Galveston is a scenic half hour drive up the coast. Our house is in the perfect location: close enough to take advantage of the huge tourism industry of Galveston but far enough away that you can enjoy the unspoiled beaches and charm of a small beach town community.
Lake Jackson, population of about 50,000, is nearby and has a lot to offer the entire family. Be sure to check out the Brazosport Arts and Science Center. Visit the planetarium, theatre, fish hatchery. A museum there houses the largest seashell exhibit in North America. Bring your shells in for identification. There is also a public golf course.

Surfside beach is a great place to spend a family vacation. Lots of places to go fishing - surf, pier, deep water, or bay fishing. A crabbing pier is right across the street which is always fun for the kids. There several local restaurants that serve awesome seafood, beer and wine, at reasonable prices and a seafood market is up the road if you want to buy some shrimp, crab or fish to prepare at home.

The owner of the house is a restaurant manager who loves to cook in his spare time so our kitchen is stocked with every appliance and culinary item you need to serve a gourmet meal.

We spent a wonderful week with our family, 6 adults and 3 children. Aside from the lovely, quiet beach and all that it offered including clear water, porpoise sightings, and many kinds of shore birds, the house accomodated us beautifully. The kitchen was so well equipped and we very much appreciated that as we ate in all but one night. We totally enjoyed the deep decks around the house at all times of the day and evening- even in the hottest part of the day there was a good breeze and shade to be found. We left with very happy memories and very tired kids- they were busy every minute!

WOW! Nice quiet beach with a surprise visit from a dozen dolphins. We had 3 families stay with us and we never felt crowded or in each others way. Very spacious and clean. We took a day trip into Galveston and it was a nice and short and a beautiful drive all the way up the coast. Sunrises and sunsets on the coast are a thing of beauty and with this house you got a stellar view of both. This was a great bonding time for all of us and we can't wait to come back again! Owners are very gracious and quick to respond to all inquiries. Just a fantastic experience overall.

we just got back from our 2nd stay in this wonderful house. what an awesome time we had!! couldn't have had better weather..kids played on the beach all day, every day!! what a great trip to kick off the summer!! thanks for everything, Barbara!!! we will be back soon =)

 

 What a Great Family Getaway!, January 28, 2008

Our three families gathered in this beautiful home over the Christmas Holidays. We traveled from Texas, Georgia, New York, and Tennessee. Everyone loved it from the children (ages 1, 2, and 4) to the grandparents. Each family had their own rooms and the amenities were extremely kid friendly. I would strongly recommend this home to anyone with children or anyone simply wanting to get away for a quiet weekend. This house is a must to see and revisit again and again!

My husband & I took our 4 yr old twins to this house for their first beach experience. We had such a wonderful time!! We had awesome weather, played in the surf & built sandcastles every day! The house is amazing & feels like home the moment you walk in. The views of the ocean are so awesome, you don't even feel like you're in Texas any more. What a wonderful beach house for any beach lover...even if you're not crazy about the beach, there is no way you would not love this house. We will most definitely stay here again!! PS...The owners (Barbara & Mike Haney) are super nice!!! =)
