Great Stay!

It was a wonderful place to rent away from the crowded hotels. There was plenty of space for all of us. It had a full size refrigerator and kitchen. The half bath helped at bedtime when all the kids needed to brush their teeth. It is very close to Galveston city. There is plenty to do at the beach house or Galveston. The only down side was the toll to Galveston. It is $4.00 round trip. However, if you plan for it then you are all right.

Blessed Weekend

We rented this beach house for the weekend with six teenage children. It could not have been a more beautiful weekend and we were blessed by the scenery. It is in a great location and the house is really nice inside with plenty of room and fully equipped with what you need in the kitchen. The downstairs shower is great. The view from the porch is wonderful any time of the day. The quantity and types of shells we found on the beach were unbelievable! It was a weekend we will not forget for a long time and we will definately be coming back hopefully next year. You could not rent from a better person than LaWanda.

fun out of the sun

The house is wonderful - lots of room - very comfortable - great deck to watch/listen to the surf. The beach, right over the crosswalk was nasty - oil pool and seaweed was oily. However you could walk about 100 yards and get away from the oil. Seaweed was still plentiful but normal for Texas beaches. The surf was clearer than usual so being in the water was great.

Thank you, Beverly, for posting your experience. Unfortunately, this year has been more of a seaweed problem than most but as I just looked out, there's a little build up but not near the water. There was none until late yesterday and it came in with some small bugs that drove my extended family crazy. They look to be gone now. It's just one of the beach things you can never guarantee. I will ask the State to take a look at the oil because it is under their control.

3 Days of Relaxation

Our kids and grandkids came down from Tennessee for a visit and we thought it would be nice to take the grandkids for their first time at the beach. We had the best time! I'm hoping we can make this a yearly family vacation.

great view of the ocean ,easy access to beach, very comfortable sleeping quarters, good air conditioning, internet access and TV/DVD player - easy to use - just take mosquito repellant as you would to any vacation if being outdoors during the evening distance to galveston is about 30 mins. and you will have to pay a $2.00 toll each way

Henrietta, thank you for your review. I am sorry that it rained quite a bit during your stay and the rain always brings those pesky mosquito's! Unfortunately, we have to wait for the State to send their trucks out but we do spray the area routinely for them ourselves. Treasure Island is 23 miles to Galveston's center and even though there is a toll, it sure is a beautiful view going across. Most of our guest only go over a couple of times if that, so it never seems to be an issue. I guess I am used to the tolls because we have so many toll roads in Houston. At least, you can see why there would be a toll with the big expanse of highway over the ocean. Thanks again for choosing Pelican Cay for your beach vacation.

My family and I had a fantastic time during our stay. The house is extremely clean and everything is brand new. It is nicely decorated and extremely roomy. The location is great because it is close to everything. The owner answered all my questions and was extremely helpful. We plan to rent this property again during another vacation to Galveston!! I have nothing but POSITIVE things to say about this property and my dealings with the owner.

The view was amazing. We spent lots of time on the deck looking at it. The swimming area was very close(within walking distance) and used as much as the surprise storm would allow. The neighborhood was quiet and the people were very friendly. The house was neat and clean and had more supplies than we expected. I did get the necessary relaxation time needed and would recommend the property for this reason.

A great way to spend spring break

I rented the place with my 2 teenage daughters, and our dogs. The place was very nice, real close to the beach. We had great weather every day, so my girls went to the beach everyday. It was very nice and relaxing with comfortable beds and one of my girls loved sleeping in the loft. The people are very friendly. The place has all the utensil you need to make meals. It was clean and tidy. There's even a little bait shop close by if you need something extra. We were very relaxed and we didn't travel anywhere, staying there was enough. The shower downstairs was nice to clean the sand off from the beach, it even has hot water. Sitting out on the deck drinking coffee in the morning and watching DVDs at night. I usually don't leave reviews but this was an awesome place to stay to get away from the stress of everyday life.

Relaxing Beach Vacation

We found Pelican Cay very inviting and relaxing. The home is very charming, clean, and comfortable and had everything we needed (including internet access). The beach is so near that you can take an early walk along the water and then come back to have coffee on the deck looking out at the ocean. We liked visiting the beach early, coming back to the home during the hottest part of the day, and then returning for more fun in the water. Love the outdoor shower for washing off the salt and sand! Lots of wildlife, which we also enjoyed. Can't wait to return!

Nice Family Vacation

We enjoyed our time at this spacious home. My husband and I brought our 7 year old, our dog and my parents and had plenty of room. Our only complaint was that in the evenings, the mosquitos almost carried us away, especially downstairs. It may have just been the time of year, but bring loads of OFF just in case. LaWanda was great. Met us locally for deposit and key exchange.

our family consists of me and my husband and 3 children one is 15,one is 8 and the other is 2 years old. It is usually hard to find something all of my children can enjoy together because of their age differance. but we all had a great time. Very family oriented and not crowded. the cabin was perfect and i loved bein able to sit on the front porch and watch the kids play when we wanted a break from the sun. definatly would go back.

Our family so enjoyed spending our beach time at Pelican Cay! This was our second trip and the owners have done so many nice things to this beautiful home. The new big screen TV was super, as were the confy barstools. There is some seasweed but it is everywhere and at least, no oil! If you want to take your family to the beach and make some great memories, book this home! Your kids will thank you for it! Thanks to the owners for sharing their home and thank you, Lawanda, for putting up with my million questions!

Most relaxing vacation ever!

We just returned from spending a week at Pelican's Cay and we had a wonderful time. The beach was great...kind of like having your own private beach. Access to the beach was easy, the house was lovely (only wish it had another full bathroom), the location was perfect (if, like us, all you want to do is relax). We left the house only twice..once to go to Walmart and once to attend a wedding. It's a fairly long drive into Galveston but exactly what we were looking for. We plan to book again for next year!

LaWanda! You can tell your friends that they have quite the "jewel" as their realtor! You made me feel like we were already buds and that our stay was more of a "visit" than a rental agreement. Calvin and I found Pelicanscay to be a wonderful respite from our day to day. Just what we needed. A little relaxation, long sea induced sleeps and a bit of a tan to take back to Katy. (who am I kidding? I'm more red than tan!) Those late afternoon dips in the sea were truly refreshing. Seriously, we could have used a week or two of this. ;-) Thanks for your hospitality. Brillant Beach Vacation

We had a wonderful time staying in this property.As told it was ready to stay in. It was very clean and comfortable. There is a shower outside which was very useful aswe could rinse off the sand from the beach,especailly with children. The lady organising our stay was excellant, exteremly helpful and did not mind when we rang her to ask questions concerning the area. The view of the sea from the house was wonderfully. We would highly recommend a stay at this house.

Just had to add my review to your great home. I was a little worried when I read the part about going over some rocks for the kids but this home met our needs and price range. There is no problem with rocks if you just go over the walkover provided. My two year old had no problems so maybe that has been fixed or something..We saw so many dolphins and had a great picnic on the beach. Sitting on the deck was so relaxing, we had a hard time going in at night. We hope to bring our parents next time so we can have a little more time on the deck while Grandma has fun with the kids. Thanks for letting us come last minute. We so appreciated it.

We really enjoyed are stay. Plenty of room for are large family. They worked really well with accomadating my family and I so we could have a great vaccation. The house is very nice and makes you feel at home. Only reason for it being four star is that the beach access is not great for younger children. Harder for them to get down over the rocks to the beach. But the beach was beautiful and clean. The kids did love it. Are family enjoyed sitting on the deck watch and hearing the waves, bar b queing and relaxing. Which made it a great vaccation.....Owners are great people...I would love to go back.......

Great home and good fishing at the Pier. My kids loved the beach. We had the place to ourselves. Good family home for our family. We had enough room to bring another, however.
