Families began vacationing in Myrtle Beach (originally called New Town) more than a century ago, making their way from inland locales by horse & buggy, and then ferrying over the Waccamaw River to reach the undeveloped coast. Oceanfront development began in the early 1900s. Myrtle Beach became a town in 1938 and a city in 1957. Landmarks include the Myrtle Beach State Park, Myrtle Beach Convention Center, and Broadway at the Beach. Myrtle Beach has a population of nearly 23,000 and is the largest and most developed community of the Grand Strand, with hundreds of hotels, restaurants, attractions, retail stores, and other businesses.
When most people think of "vacation" and "beach," Myrtle Beach is what they have in mind, even if they've never been there. Nothing more than a barren expanse of dunes and brush before this century, over the last 50 years it has exploded into one of the country's premier vacation spots. It's no wonder why either. Every manufactured activity imaginable is available. There's golf, miniature golf, water parks, amusement parks, variety shows, more golf and miniature golf, serious museums, tacky museums, gardens, fishing, shopping, and a bit more miniature golf. There's also a beach.
Myrtle Beach is the center of activity for the Grand Strand. It's one of the most active places on the East Coast. Visitor's coming here expect to have fun. Judging from the crowds that return year after year, most aren't disappointed.
The variety of types of places to stay is almost as staggering as the number of activities. There's small mom and pop hotels, medium size motels, high-rise motels, condos, Bed & Breakfasts, resorts, and camping. There are also a few cottages left, but they've become endangered species in Myrtle Beach proper.

These South Strand communities have been family favorites for generations. Surfside Beach, in fact, proudly calls itself "the family beach." Incorporated as a town in 1964, Surfside Beach (population 4,425) is an active residential community and thriving vacation destination. Along its lovely beachfront you'll find beach houses, hotels, condominiums and a popular fishing pier. The town also has a large water park, along with numerous restaurants and other businesses. To the south is Garden City Beach (population 9000+), an unincorporated community that straddles Horry and Georgetown counties and ends on a peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet. The majority of Garden City's vacationers stay in beach houses, with condos coming in a close second. With access to the ocean and inlet, Garden City Beach is a hot spot for fishing, crabbing, and other water sports. The community has a fishing pier, marina, amusements, restaurants, and other businesses.

- Other Fees: Balance including remaining rent, sales/accommodations tax on total rent, reservation fee & any additional charges for requested rentals/services will be due 30 days prior to arrival.
