Frequently Asked Questions

Q: We are bicycling enthusiasts!!?
A: The trailhead of the Northern Michigan hiking-biking trail is about 15 minutes away..located near the county fairgrounds in Gaylord. This packed-surface trail wanders North through the pastures and woodlands all the way to Mackinaw City, if yiu wish. Total of 62 miles it goes from Gaylord, through Wolverine, Indian River, Topanabee, Cheboygan and then to the Mackinac Straits Bridge. This is one of the great scenic bike routes of the Midwest! For the casual rider there are staging areas anywhere from 12 to 20 miles apart, in the various little towns and villages..just park your chase vehicle, bike up 6 or 7 miles, then back to your car or RV. Serious riders can click off 20 or 30 miles, stopping at lakeside, in a village center, at an old RR bridge to watch kayakers drift by, take a short break for lunch or ice cream and then speed on. Great fun for all ages, all skill levels.
Q: So what is special here?
A: The chalet is located within a private "recreational/retirement community of about 9,000 acres..a mix of common property and residential properties. It includes several quiet, non-motor lakes, two sand beaches, an indoor (all-season) swimming pool facility.
