The Gettysburg Tate House. Opened in May for weekly rental. Now taking reservations for 2012. Located in the 2nd block West of the historic square in Gettysburg, PA, this home was built by Dr. Theodore Thompson Tate in 1867. This double gable, board and batten cottage is a rare example of the Carpenter Gothic Style popularized by the noted Landscape Architect Andrew Jackson Downing. Dr. Tate, a prominent local surgeon, served with distinction during the Gettysburg Campaign as Assistant Surgeon of the 3rd Pennsylvania Cavalry. The first floor is now a 1 bedroom weekly vacation retreat. We rent from Sunday to Sunday. Enjoy the ambiance of staying in a historic home while enjoying many modern conveniences. Take a stroll right across the street or down the block to survey the local restaurants such as the Gary Owen Irish Pub and the Ragged Edge Coffee Shop. Or save money by cooking in the well supplied kitchen. After a long day of touring and site seeing, relax on the spacious front porch and take in the local Gettysburg atmosphere or take a soak in the unique 4' claw foot tub. Each room is tastefully decorated with original civil war themed art created by local artists. The cozy bedroom offers a queen size bed while extra guests or children can sleep on the comfy sofabed in the living room. Bring your own linens, towels and any extra paper products you may need for your vacation. Maid service is not provided.

Gettysburg is the site of one of the most important battles of the US Civil War and the largest land battle ever fought in North America. Located in the historic downtown of Gettysburg, PA a block west of the square the Tate House is within walking distance of numerous restaurants and eateries, shops,and art galleries. It is an in-town location so if you are looking to take in the (sometimes rowdy) "local flare" (especially on the weekends) then this is the place for you! The Garryowen Irish Pub and Ragged Edge Coffee Shop are right across the street. There is Seasons Bakery, Devil's Den Deli, Lukes Grill and the Bluebrick Gallery all within the same block. Down the street are Blue Parrot Bistro, Mamma Ventura's Italian Restaurant, the Pub and many more restaurant, shops and galleries. Free parking is hard to come by in downtown Gettysburg. We offer 1 offstreet parking space for our guests. Park your vehicle and then take the local trolley to get around or rent a scooter or scoot coupe at Getty Peds, also located around the corner.
