Great Weekend Getaway, September 8, 2009
By Cindy Petrozza (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
The Third summer was a great place for our Labor Day weekend. The house is very clean and has everything you would need for a relaxing weekend in Gettysburg. Located on a beautiful street and close to all the sights. The descreiption of the house states that it sleeps 8 and we found this not to be true. Seven people would be more like it. My husband and I deciced we would take the "click-clack" bed in the livingroom and when we pulled it out we found out it could only sleep one. Very uncomfortable. Jeanie it would be wise if you purchased a full fold out sofa in order to properly sleep 8. House is beautifully decorated and the painings on the wall are a nice touch. Had a great time.

 Couldn't beat the location!, August 23, 2009
By Anne (New Jersey)
Our family of four stayed at the Third Summer during August. We couldn't have chosen a better location! The street, Seminary Avenue, has to be the most beautiful street in Gettysburg. There was a nice family restaurant (Dunlaps) within walking distance, as well as a Chinese restaurant and a supermarket (Kennys). The home was also within walking distance of The Lutheran Seminary, a lovely place to stroll, and within walking distance of the town, and all its historic attractions. The house was charmingly decorated, clean, and private. The front porch was a lovely, peaceful place to rock, and rest. We loved the pretty master bedroom. If you like B&Bs, but would want more privacy, The Third Summer is the perfect place to stay. Jeanne Poole is a wonderfully accommodating "landlord," and we owe the success of our vacation at Gettysburg to her and her Third Summer. Thanks, Jeanne!

 A Perfect Birthday weekend, May 27, 2009
By JoEllen Smalley (Ashland, Ohio)
We were in Gettysburg celebrating my mom's 85th birthday. We couldn't have picked a nicer place to stay. It was like being at home. The tree lined street was so beautiful and we were grateful that we didn't have a hotel room because a soccer tournament was going on in town and it would have been too noisy in the hotels. We loved eating breakfest out on the deck and we gathered there in the evening to visit with our relatives. The bedrooms were so comfortable and we had everything we needed to make our stay great. We have already recommended this home to some friends and we will stay again at the Third Summer. Denny and JoEllen Smalley

Happy Thanksgiving in Gettysburg, December 2, 2008
By Linda (IL)
We arrived Tuesday morning and Jeannie handed us the keys and made sure we had plenty of warm blankets and said to call if we needed anything. The first night we cooked for 12 students at LTSG and on Thanksgiving Day we had 9 family members. The house was neat and clean and th pictures were very realistic. Not perfect but comforatble. We liked the little touches - games, books for all tastes, cable TV, dishwasher soap. It was also handy to have a washer & dryer. The appliances were all useful and we were able to cook our big meals with no problems. There was plenty of room for 6 of us to sleep - any more would be a bit difficult though you could use the futon n the living room if necessary. We would do it again in a minute!

Better Than Expected, August 20, 2008

The Third Summer was a wonderful retreat for our entire family. The price was reasonable and the house was perfect! We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Already planning to stay again, August 13, 2008
By M. Poling (Orient, Ohio)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home was fresh and clean, and was furnished with nice quality items. The location is great. Easily access to downtown and the battlefield. The street is lined with lovely, well maintained, old homes and is very quiet and relaxing. We are already planning a second trip to Gettysburg and plan to stay at The Third Summer again.

NICE AND COZY!, August 9, 2008
By BEA (Baltimore Md)
This place was very nice. After conducting a research online and comparing the different hotels prices, this place was around the same price as the area hotels. So for the money you spend at a hotel you can spend here and relax as if you were in your own vacation home, this place has every thing you need plus more. We had a very nice time, the BBQ out back just added even more convincence. If you want to vacation with all your family under one roof and not have to hop from hotel room to hotel room, I would very much recommend the property.

What a lovely place to stay!, July 17, 2008
By Liz Hendon (Washington, DC)
Loved our stay at the Third Summer! Everything was perfect - we were happy, comfortable, and felt more than a little pampered in the beautiful surroundings. Centrally located, beautifully appointed, and clean as a whistle. SO much nicer (and less expensive) than staying in a traditional hotel or motel. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend the Third summer to anyone who wants to truly enjoy their trip to Gettysburg!

 Great Retreat!, June 26, 2008
By Lynn Matthews (SC, USA)
We recently visited Gettysburg and were lucky enough to find Third Summer. Everything was neat, clean, and wonderful.Everything we needed was available there. We had four adults, one teenager, and one six year old in our group. This place was perfect for us all. The owner was so pleasant! We hope to visit again.

The Third Summer was a wonderful base for us to explore both the city of Gburg and the battlefield. The house is just two blocks from the lovely Lutheran Theol. Seminary and 6 blocks to the heart of downtown. We walked everywhere except the battlefield. The Sleep Comfort beds were comfortable and the decor lovely. We appreciated the Civil War books and videos and decor. The kitchen and bath are small but totally updated and pretty. The washer and dryer were great to have. We lived on the wide and beautiful front porch! Nice rocking chairs. Lots of space at the dining room table and in the living room. The owner is so nice and accommodating and phoned to be sure all was going well. I highly recommend the Third Summer and plan to return the next time I'm in Gburg. The price was very fair. There were 6 in our party - we saved 500 dollars by staying at the Third Summer rather than a downtown hotel.
