Peaceful Get-A-Way

Lovely Amish built house surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our children loved the turtles in the pond and ducks. They enjoyed trying their hand at fishing in the stream and exploring the grounds. We utilized the fully stocked kitchen (including spices and various baking essentials) for all our meals - sometimes eating outside when weather permitted. The house is a quick 10 minute drive to historic Gettysburg and the National Military park where we spent two days awed and immursed in our country's history. There are many ways to explore the park - bike, walking, self guided car tour, horseback tour. It is an hour drive from DC which was an easy commute with young children. It is also an hour and a half away from Hershey PA. We made use of one of two wood stoves in the living room which added the perfect ambiance to our evenings. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning in the future.

Paradise!

Beautiful house and gorgeous grounds in a peaceful rural setting but within close reach of local tourist sights (Gettysburg battlefield, Eisenhower farm, the historic town of Gettysburg) and just an hour from Baltimore/Washington. We cooked at home and ate by the pond listening to the owls and frogs - beautiful - but also tried some great local restaurants. A great relaxing vacation.

Recommended - we had a great time!

We had a great time at the property and recommend it for those looking for a quiet relaxing weekend. It is very serene. We sat by the small lake watching hawks, bluebirds and other wildlife. Very convenient to D.C. (less than an hour from Rockville without traffic) yet seemingly very far away. Cannot see any of the neighbors and lots of land to explore around the property. Washer and dryer were helpful. Lots of kitchen supplies. Heating worked very well despite being a large house with many many windows. Had a great time and hope to go back soon.
