For our group of friends the location of this property was perfect. Waking up and walking out the door to drop a line in the Flathead River to fish- returning for breakfast and a cup of coffee- then planning a hike for the day returning to soothe our weary bones in the hot tub after cooking dinner and sharing conversation about our days adventures. It doesn't get any better than this!!! Being close to the West entrance to the park gave us the luxury to visit daily and we did. Having a place feel like home allowed us to slip into vacation mode immediately. Shortly after arriving, we talked about when we'll return- the ultimate compliment!
Near the Glacier National Park entrances at West Glacier and Camas Creek, but far from the crowds, trains & traffic, Smoky Bear Ranch has all of the conveniences of a deluxe four- season facility in a remote forested setting.
A large vacation rental on it's own acrage with river...
Our family of 11 stayed at Grizzly Cabin for a week. The location was actually very nice. The cabin was clean and well stocked for dishes and cooking utensils. A short trip to the West entrance to Glacier National Park if you are willing to drive on a little gravel. Blankenship road got is there is about 15-20 minutes. Also only 20-30 minutes from Whitefish and 10-15 from Columbia Falls. Location is very quiet and wooded. The temps got up in the 90's while we were there, but the cabin stayed quite cool and great for sleeping as it cooled off at night. Our hosts were very nice. They provided us with hiking maps and a guide book and also had bear spray on site that we could use if needed. The only unpleasant surprise was that the water was quite sulphuric and we decided to bring drinking water in. The good news is that we purchased a few gallons and would then take them with us into glacier and we could refill them for free at any of the campsites. We always filled our hydration packs at these sites prior to hiking anyway so it was not inconvenient. The cabin water was fine for bathing. We would recommend this for any familiy looking for a quiet, peaceful place to stay near Glacier.
