Summer rates for four people are $1000 for a Sunday to Friday stay and $1600 for a Sunday to Sunday stay.

Our lake house was renovated in 2002 and decorated by an interior decorator. The property has 110 feet of private lakefront and is located on a private cove which limits boat traffic in front of the house. The house faces south with a beautiful view of forever green land across the cove.

With its open floor plan, you can cook in the kitchen while laughing with friends in the living room, enjoying the gas fire, or looking at the boats on the lake. There is also a more private nook to one end of the enclosed porch with a nice view of the lake and where you can get away from the main living area to relax with a good book or for a quiet conversation without having to go outside or retreat to a bedroom.

To enjoy the sun, step out the sliding doors to relax on one of two furnished decks that are adjacent to the water. The decks are in sun for most of the day, but both have shade you can enjoy if you feel the need.

When you are ready for a swim, gradually wade into the water from the deck or take a plunge off the end of the dock. The water is clear, and near the shore the bottom is sandy and slopes gently. If you'd rather play in the sand, there is a shared access beach that sits adjacent to the property.

The lake is also a great place to fish, boat, and waterski. Two kayaks are usually available to rent as long as I have advance notice, but feel free to bring your own boat and tie it to the dock. You can easily launch a canoe, kayak, or small sailboat from our property or from the adjacent beach. There is also a boat launch at the campground on East Caroga Lake for larger boats. A connecting channel lets you explore West Caroga Lake if you are interested.

Nearby you will also find golf, hiking, nature trails, historic sites, a cider mill, and if you want to travel a bit further (~18 miles), there is a zoo. For good ice cream, visit Sherman's which is around the corner on West Caroga Lake. Sherman's used to be an amusement park in the 1920's. They still have the ferris wheel and have restored the carousel but the rides are only available for special reserved events such as weddings. There are also a number of good restaurants in the area.

• Deposits: The house we are renting is not part of a commercial business; it is our 2nd home. To help pay for some of the expenses, we are looking to share our home with guests who will take good care of it during their stay. After your stay, it is our hope to reimburse your entire $300 security deposit plus a portion of our standard rate as a thank you for keeping to the rental agreement and leaving the house cleaned and in such good condition that we can not tell that anyone was there.
