Description of the Governor's Harbour vacation cottage rental

This unique beachfront vacation cottage is built of cedar in an open hexagonal design. Eight arching windows provide magnificent views, and open onto a wrap-around deck.

The house has high ceilings and is charmingly decorated with Caribbean style furnishings and art. Perfect for a honeymooning couple or a small family, the Round House has a queen bed and a sleeping loft which is ideal for children.

The house is built on a 14 acre estate stretching across to the ocean on other side of the island. The house is surrounded with lush plants and fragrant tropical flowers. You will be able to hear the gentle waves on the beach just 20 yards away and awake to the whisper of the breeze rustling through the coconut trees.

You can relax on the 360 degree deck, private beach or in the thatched cabana, where there is a freshwater shower. There is new BBQ area over looking the water and outdoor dinning areas on the deck, in the garden and on the beach.

Spend days walking or lazing on secluded pink sand beaches. Snorkel or kayak for hours right in front of the house or explore the island's many beautiful and untouched beaches, cliffs, caves and quaint villages or simply enjoy a book in the hammock on cabana. Catch your own lobster and feast on them while watching the full moon rise out of the ocean.

The house has air conditioning and a fully equipped modern kitchen including a dishwasher, stove, large fridge, microwave, coffee maker, blender etc. There is a selection of videos and DVDs which can be played on the TV. There is a phone, CD player and tape deck.

The Round house has one queen bed and a sleeping loft which has a single and king. The house is ideal for a couple or couple with children. Max capacity is 5.

We supply all towels and linens for your stay and there are laundry facilities you are welcome to use. We provide ocean kayaks, boogie boards and other fun beach toys.

Area Description

Just two lovely houses share a very private beach on the Atlantic, skirted by miles of stunning pink sand beaches.

The houses afford spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean from every room, amidst a picturesque grove of coconut palms, colorful hibiscus, fragrant frangipani flowers, sea grape and Casuarina trees.

Ocean-lovers will find some of the best snorkeling, scuba diving and swimming in the world. Underwater visibility is up to 100 feet, with water temperatures ranging between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. One can snorkel from right in front of the house or explore the miles of exceptional beaches with our ocean kayaks.

The adventurous traveler can enjoy nearby islands and virgin coral reefs teeming with exotic tropical fish, or charter boats for world-class bone or deep-sea fishing. Other sports available on the island include golf, tennis and surfing.

The stars at night and the moonrise out of the ocean are strikingly beautiful on this remote island paradise.

Easily accessible, Casuarina Bay is just 1 hour by air from Fort Lauderdale or Miami and 15 minutes from Nassau. Casuarina bay is only seven miles from Governors Harbour airport. Our 14 acre sea to sea estate is located 1.5 miles northeast of the charming village of Governors Harbour, one of the oldest settlements in the Bahamas. There you will find food and gift stores, restaurants, bars, bank, clinic, dive shop, bike rentals, library with internet etc.

We stayed in Round House last week (may 10-17th 2008). It was beautiful. The view from the front porch is spectacular. We loved the easy access to the beach and the beach was private! loved the kayaks. it is very remote but quiet. if you like people, night life, or noise this is not the place for you. you should stick with resorts !

Our second Round House getaway was as wonderful as our first. This place is the perfect destination to decompress for these two Chicago bartenders. From the beautiful ocean experience to the supreme coziness of the Round House,it's hard to imagine a more perfect destination. The snorkeling is terrific right on our beach, and the cool cabana is the perfect spot to sip drinks or enjoy lunch. The outdoor shower is handy too.The three mile walk down the beach to Tippy's for lunch or dinner is always fun , especially when the moon is full.Usually we took advantage of the kitchen and outdoor grill and prepared our own meals.This is THE place to get away from it all. We will keep coming back.

This was our first Round House getaway. And we loved it! We could not have imagined a more perfect destination. We could go on and on describing all the terrific places and experiences we encountered. The Round House offers you all the amenities to prepare a simple or gourmet meal. Within an hour walk on the beach we enjoyed Tippy’s food or a 30 minute drive brought us to the Dolce Vita restaurant. We fell in love to the “Potcakes” that always were around when we walked on the beach or to Governors Harbor. This is the place were you can relax. We plan coming back continuing encountering this wonderful place and island.
