The Valais region is famous for its fine wines,good food, skiing, hiking.The Ried Glacier is nearby within walking distance. All nearby forests are open to the public.There are traces of Roman history with a system of water channels originating from the glacier still being used by the local farmers.From the train station of St. Niklaas you can be in Zermatt within 45 minutes via the famous Red Glacier Express.
