View of the Matterhorn from a mountai top restaurant.
You can reach Zermatt on the Glacier Express from St. Niklaas, nearby.

Area Description

Huge mountains leading to the Matterhorn surround the quaint village of Grachen. The Valais region is famous for its fine wines,good food, skiing, hiking.The Ried Glacier is nearby within walking distance. All nearby forests are open to the public.There are traces of Roman history with a system of water channels originating from the glacier still being used by the local farmers.From the train station of St. Niklaas you can be in Zermatt within 45 minutes via the famous Red Glacier Express.

Other Vacation Rental Amenities

In winter there is a Kids Skiing Area plus two fully equipped ski lifts within walking distance,one going up to 9000ft(Seetalhorn) with a fantastic view of the valley leading to Zermatt.There are hiking trails from the chalet and many excellent local restaurants,some with music on week-ends.There is a great tourist office that has free information on all events nearby,including bus tours to some historical towns in the vicinity.
