There family rooms consists of 3 single beds, and main bedroom has a kingsize bed and permenant single day bed.
Only 5 miles away, is the major city of Granada with all its historic monuments such as the Alhambra, and as many tapas bars and fiestas as you can imagine.
This property is ideally suited to families who enjoy some hustle and bustle, but like to retire to something much more tranquil!
Monachil is at the foot of the Sierra Nevada ski mountain, which is 30 minutes drive round the mountain to the ski lift at Pradallano. There is a large underground car park here, as driving is the most common way to visit. The roads to the resort are very good. Sierra Nevada is Europes southern most resort, and is very modern in design and faciliities, and caters for children and adults, beginners and advanced. The ski resort is cheaper than some of the most common resorts in Europe. We were here on 8 Dec 2005 (a Spanish holiday), plenty of skiing, and so busy that we had to park on the side of the road as all spaces had been taken. It took us 30 minutes door to door on the way up, and 34 minutes on the way down.
Skiing and Children
Sierra Nevada is a fantastic resort for children. If you have children between 4 m onths and 8 years, there is "Dream Land". I would describe it like a minature disneyland in the snow. You can put your children in here from 10 - 4 each day (or 1/2 days) and they can play on skis, toboggan, place in the snow, or indoor activities such as painting, and characters dressed up. We do not know what it is like, but our children are going here in March 2006, so will able to advise.
Dream Land is mid way up the mountain, so you need to buy a ski lift pass and hire skis and boots for your children. It is very reasonable priced and costs about the same price as putting your child into nursery for a week in the UK.
There is a community patio, and our apartment is on the ground floor, and is good for children. There will also be a few toys / highchair and cot at the apartment for no extra cost.
I think you are unlikely to meet another English family here!
Children are very welcome...
We have children of our own (2 and 5 years as of 2004!) and we have tried to be as child friendly as possible and include the essentials, for example: bath mat!, plastic cutlery, plates and cups, a few toys and a highchair and travel cot are available on request. We also have a DVD player, so do remember those favourite films!
Linen and cleaning is included in the price.
Low cost airlines to Malaga (1 hour 15 mins),or many airlines to Granada (20 minutes).
Monachil is a hilly village, thus people with walking difficults or in wheelchairs would probably find this and the surrounding villages to Granada unsuitable. The bus stop is a 2 minute walk and takes you into the centre of Granada, 90 cents each way.
About 2 minutes drive from our apartment there is a very large supermarket, it is actually in the next village called Cajar. It has everything from fresh bread, fresh fish and meet, and even baby supplies! We even provide you with a slow cooker, so if you are out skiing, just have it on all day and it will be already for when you get back..

Client Testomonials - Family from UK
Your apartment was perfect accommodation for a family of 5 people who very much enjoyed their skiing holiday. The fittings and furnishings are very tasteful and we were very impressed by your attention to detail and high level of personal service. Everything was truly outstanding. The DVD player provided us with great entertainment and we were very comfortable.
PS Hope to make a reservation for next year as we enjoyed ourselves so much
Couple from the US
Hi Linda and Frenchs all,
Randy and I arrived home Sunday evening and I mailed your keys yesterday (Monday).
Will you please let me know when you receive them?
The apartment was lovely, a wonderful place from which to enjoy Granada and its
environs! We also enjoyed wandering around Monachil. We started a sangria pot
and just kept it going the whole week. This made cooking in your very well equipped
kitchen even more enjoyable. And, of course, added more romance to the beautiful
sunsets over Granada.
The following are our comments, in hopes that they will be useful to you.
Inside the Apartment:
* Very clean upon arrival
* Loved the Ikea furnishings. Did you take the photos?
* The master bed is about as cozy and comfy as a bed can get.
* Instructions for appliances in oven drawer were VERY useful!!! You may want to
place them in an even more prominent place - especially for folks from USA, who
are not at all used to the way European appliances work.
