Description of the Granada vacation villa rental
Sleeps 14. Only 10 minutes from Alhambra palace 15 minutes from Granada city centre, 25 minutes Sierra Nevada ski resort, 60 minutes from Costa Tropical

Cortijo la Mata is a traditional Andalusian farmhouse constructed in the year 1911 which has been converted into three holiday accomodation units. Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range yet only 10 minutes by car from the Alhambra Palace and the city of Granada the house is located just outside the old moorish village of Monachil in an area of outstanding natural beauty surrounded by olive, almond and cherry trees.

For those who are looking for a complete escape to the Andalusian countryside yet want to take advantage of all that the city of Granada has to offer plus take in the ski slopes of Spain's highest mountain range the location is perfect.

The villa is well equipped and each unit is provided with fresh bedlinen (duvets in winter), hand and bath towels, clean crockery & tableware, a large fridge/freezer, electric or gas cooker, dishwasher, microwave, drying and ironing facilities, small selection of books in several languages, a fully functional chimney and satellite TV (dual satellite system providing channels in all major european languages including free to air channels such as the BBC). We are also happy to announce that as of September 2008 we have Wi-Fi Internet access available throughout the property. During those colder winter months the property is heated by means of an oil fired central heating system.

For families with babies and toddlers we supply cots and high chairs.

Outside facilities include a well maintained swimming pool, barbecues, fully furnished patios and terraces with spectacular views across the Monachil valley, gardens, and private parking. The property is situated in it's own private mountainside with paths leading up to the surrounding hills and valleys.

All set within an enclosed plot of slightly more than 1,500 square metres.

Please note that the swimming pool is only open during the summer months of June through until end of September.

Sierra Nevada ski station is only 25 minutes away with the added advantage that there is a separate road from the village to the resort hence avoiding much of the Granada city traffic.

From mountain biking, rock climbing and handgliding to flamenco lessons, goats cheese demos and cookery courses we can organize almost anything!Apart from the beautiful Monachil area itself the main attraction is without doubt Granada - the city of the Alhambra, Albayzin and the gypsy caves of Sacromonte - all within 15 minutes easy drive.

Just a quick e-mail to say how much we enjoyed our stay in Spain. It was so relaxing and 5 days in the sun was a real treat. Thank you to both of you for the warm welcome.

Just a quick note to say thanks for a lovely stay. We may consider coming back before the ski season finishes but it does depend on the snow fall so we will keep you in mind for then.

Thanks very much for everything during our stay at your cottage. We had an absolutely fantastic time, only down side was that it was only for 5 days! The cottage is beautiful, and the location is wonderful (even if my sister continued to be freaked about the drive up from the village!). We kept ourselves so well occupied that I didn't get to do the full walk near to the village. I hope that a few guys will come back at some time in the future, 'cos I'd return tomorrow if I could! Once again, speaking for myself and all my friends, thanks very much, I certainly won't forget my 40th!

We had a great time staying in the cottage and exploring the local area - especially walking to Los Cohorres. Your suggestions on where to eat etc were also very helpful. We'll definitely be recommending Cortijo La Mata to our friends and family as a great place to stay both for visiting Granada and the Sierra Navada.

We enjoyed it very much, but after one week we got used again to the Dutch rainy weather. We liked it very much to stay in your house, we also liked exchanging idea's with you. Yesterday night we picked up Lia , Theo, Tamar and Alexander, they had a problemless trip back home. All the best and hope to meet you one day again, perhaps in Andalusie .

Thanks for this and really looking forward to next year - we had a great time the house was perfect for us and will happily recommend to friends and colleagues. It was nice to have a trip down to the sunshine in Almunecar before returning back to the UK & snow!
Best wishes and see you in 2006

Thanks again for all your help while in Granada. I doubt I'll ever forget the Spanish lessons; you never know when the ability to say - la nina no puede comer los huevos - will come in handy again! La Mata is beautiful, and Jen and I look forward to coming again.

Thanks for a geat holiday. Never relaxed so much before. We all had plenty to do and the kids enjoyed the mountain. Ski resort very close and skiing was excellent. Enjoyed Bar Barberia as we had never drank in a cave before. Found Shaun & Chilla very helpful. Looking forward to our next visit to Monachil.
