Description of the Granby vacation home rental

Our 4 bedroom, 2 bath modern log lodge is rustic but super comfortable. The great room spans the width of the first floor with vaulted ceilings and an amazing view of Trail Mountain. The kitchen was renovated this summer and has a new refrigerator and microwave (no dishwasher). Our 2 acre property practically backs up to the National Forest so it is perfect for snowmobiling in the winter and hiking or mountain biking in the summer. After your outdoor activities enjoy a soak in our hot tub. The spa room has views on three sides, a glass top table for indoor/outdoor dining, plenty of room for your ski gear, and a sliding glass door that leads onto a deck which spans the front of the house. We provide a charcoal grill in the summer as well (not in winter). There are two bedrooms on the first floor and a newly renovated bathroom downstairs. One of the first floor bedrooms has a queen size bed and the other has two sets of bunk beds so we are very kid friendly. There are also two bedrooms on the second floor which you access via a spiral staircase and indoor balcony. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and shares the balcony with the other bedroom which has a double bed. The second floor bath was just renovated this summer and has a walk in all-glass shower so you can enjoy the view out the window while you soap up! The living area has a 37" flat panel TV with a VCR and DVD player (no cable) and a double sleeper sofa as well as lots of other seating. The dining table can accommodate 12 and looks out on the mountain view as well. The house can be entirely heated using the wood stove but there is also baseboard heating with separate controls for every room.

Area Information

The property has 2 acres so you barely see the neighbors and is nestled 5 miles up county road 41 at the head of a large Aspen filled valley. The house looks out on the valley and Trail Mountain. There is a narrow dirt road behind the house that goes into the National Forest and provides a great track for hunting in the fall, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing in the winter and hiking, mountain biking, or ATVing in the summer. We are just 20 minutes from Sol Vista, the local downhill ski and snowboard resort as well as 10 minutes from the towns of Grand Lake and Granby (we are nestled half way between them). In the summer you have a choice of three nearby reservoirs/lakes for water sports and swimming. We are also a 10 minute drive to the Southern entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and Trail Ridge Road. The quaint old west feel of Grand Lake offers horse back riding, go-carts, and mini-golf, as well as many great eateries and shopping. There are two fantastic hand scooped ice cream shops, many great restaurants and shops, as wells as beach side boat rentals.

Winter Wonderland!

We arrived at the cabin on a winter Friday evening. Heidi's directions were detailed and simple to follow, even in the dark! The cabin is very cozy with a rustic mountain feel, and plenty of room and amenities for for the six of us - three adult couples - to enjoy. On Saturday we enjoyed a morning of snowmobiling - the beautiful trail system is easily accessible right from the cabin's driveway!! Upon our return the hot tub was waiting to warm us up. We prepared our dinner in the full kitchen and enjoyed keeping the fire going in the wood stove which warms the home. There was plenty of space for us to sleep comfortably, and there were also 2 sets of bunk beds which could have slept 4 more. The cabin was everything we wanted for our family weekend away from the city, and we will definitely contact Heidi again in the future!

This house was a cozy mountain getaway. Very clean and well maintained. My family enjoyed sledding snowshoeing and some hunting. Relaxing in the hot tub after a day in the snow was the best.

Our family has been coming up to this cabin for years. It is cozy and comfortable, with a beautiful view and in a great location. We have so many special memories including boating, hiking, mountain biking, and hanging out at the Grand Lake swim beach in the summmer. The town of Grand Lake is very quaint and has the most unique mini golf course we've ever seen. In the winter we've enjoyed skiing at Sol Vista and Winter Park, snow shoeing, and sledding, and of course making s'mores in the wood burning stove. It's fun to cook dinner and hang out at the cabin, or it's also not far to the town of Grand Lake which has lots of great restaurants. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

Beautiful, pleaceful place

November 13, 2012

This is one of the most relaxing retreats I have ever visited. I am not a hiker, a skier, or a snowmobiler, but I love to visit this place. The views are incredible year-round, the cabin is snug and cozy and comfortable. From the front deck to the hot tub to the calm, serene vistas, this is really the perfect place to unwind and re-gear to face the world outside. The night sky is an experience in itself---full of stars and so very quiet. By day it is great to see horse-back riders go by and spy the ocassional moose or deer in the valley. I love to watch the sun move across the valley each day painting different vistas by the hour. If I want to escape for a short time, there are good restaraunts close by, along with fun shopping experiences, especially in Grand Lake. A drive through Byers Canyon is a real treat--both ways. I cannot imagine a more ideal place to re-charge and get away from it all. I love the place!!

Beautiful and comfortable family get away

We have been up to the mountains a lot and yet this was one of the best mountain stays ever. We stayed there for a long weekend when the trees were changing but I can picture going again for a summer vacation or a winter time holiday. The place was sparkling clean, and the kitchen and bathrooms were newly remodeled with new appliances which made it really nice. There were 4 rooms and 2 bathrooms which meant the kids could each have a friend along and their grandmother was comfortable in her own space too. The beds were comfortable and everyone had good sleep. We liked all the spaces in this place: One day, we spent the better part of the morning sitting on the front porch reading and talking in the sun - really relaxing. The great room has windows that look out on a beautiful valley where we watched both the sunrise and sunset - Spectacular! The house stayed warm until late and when it got cooler, we made a fire in the wood burning stove which kept the whole place toasty. We especially liked that rustic touch. There is a trail going up to open space, I believe it's state forest property, right out the door and we walked up into the valley in the back onto a beautiful trail going up the gentle slope. It was just right for our young children and their grandmother! I can picture cross country skiing up that nice valley when the snow flies. The beds were comfortable and we all had plenty of hot water for showers. The kids loved the hot tub which was a big hit in the early morning and late at night. It's in a separate room but we could keep an eye on them and that was important for us. No complaints to report and we will definitely be back! Thanks to our hosts for a lovely stay.

A:We are close to lots of great stuff but you feel like you are in a very remote place because we have 2 acres of property and back up to the National Forest.

Q:What are the coolest nearby activities?

A:My kids think it is the go-carts in Grand Lake or speed sledding down the road but Brad and I really enjoy getting out on Grand Lake in a canoe or cross country skiing out the back door of the house. Our location is also ideal for snowmobiling because you can take off directly from the house onto National Forest trails.
