Description of the Grand Marais vacation cabin rental

Summer is very special time of the year on the Gunflint Trail It seems to go by so quickly, because there is so much to do and enjoy. We have two canoes for you to use you can paddle them on any number of day trips Gunflint lake is a border lake and is connected to a whole series of other lakes through creeks, rivers and portages. You can plan a family canoe trip and be back at the cabin that evening in time to have a BBQ and a bonfire. The loons will almost certainly entertain you by calling back and forth to one another. If you should get a rainy day we have a screened in porch that over looks the fire pit so you don't lose too much, its almost like being outside. Its also a great place to have your evening meal. There are any number of hiking trails that are located right behind us. My favorite hike is the one to the Pines Resort to get a ice cream cone. Maybe you want to take it ease, there is a log swing down by the lake and its very relaxing to just sit down there and enjoy the mother ducks and loons that seem to bring there little ones by to show them off. You can swim from the privite dock. The water is always fridged but very refreshing.

If you want to dine out, there is a 5 star restaurant one mile away, and several more casual, but very nice restaurants within a few miles. Don't let the downside of the winter scare you. From the first of May to sometime in October, we have indoor plumbing with a shower and hot and cold running water. This is an incredible summer vacation and would be very hard to duplicate.

Fall is a breathtaking time of the year. The days are cool, the nights are crisp, and the outside fire feels so good and totally warms you. The leaves are in full color and in the morning, when the lake is calm, it looks like a painting. There is no time of the year that is like the fall. Even when the leaves are down and the trees are bare, the woods take on a whole new look.

All of the hiking trails are there for you to enjoy. You may want to climb to the high cliff or to the honeymoon bluff. The views from both of these are incredible. You must remember that the water will be shut off sometime in October. So we are back to using the outhouse. It is such a small price to pay for such a memorable get away.

Want to try something different for a great vacation getaway? Why not try a few nights or a week in the Boundary Waters in the middle of winter. I doubt you will ever experience anything more relaxing or tranquil. You can stay inside the cozy cabin, curl up with a good book, and watch deer at the feeder, 20 feet outside the front window.

Or you could be more adventurous and enjoy the many miles of cross-country ski trails, or if you are into snowmobiling, there are miles and miles of groomed trails. If you want to try your hand at fishing, the hot spot for lake trout is right in front of the cabin. This is the upside and it will be the most enjoyable adventure you have had in a long time.

The downside is you'll have to walk in from the boat landing about 100 yards. You'll then start a fire and warm the cabin, about two hours. During the winter months, we don't have running water, so you'll have to use the outhouse located right behind the cabin. No big deal, it adds to the adventure and makes it fun. The downside is why it is priced so reasonably.

Wouldn't it be neat to spend Christmas and New Year's at the cabin with the snow and the deer?

Thanks for looking at our cabin.
