The land he protected is a hard-to-equal destination for the lovers of the outdoors. From the jagged peaks of Baron, Thobat, McGowan and Grandjean to the meandering Payette River, the splendor is halting. This is the Sawtooth Wilderness Area and it maintains all of the unspoiled grandeur of the American West.
The Sawtooth lodge was established in 1927 by Babe Hansen and has had only a few owners since that time, all of them family operations. The current owners purchased the lodge in 2006 and their mission is to maintain the rustic atmosphere and natural beauty associated with the lodge. The Lodge is located on the South Fork of the Payette River, 27 miles east of Lowman between mile markers 93 and 94, six miles back to nature and less than three hour’s drive from the state capital, Boise.
