Description of the Green Valley vacation townhouse rental
Stunning views of the Santa Rita mountains from the back patio let you enjoy the desert southwest at it's best. This is an end unit with approximately 1300 square feet with a beehive fireplace in the living room. The main flooring is wood laminate with ceramic tile in the two bathrooms and Mexican tile in the Arizona Room. Both bedrooms are carpeted. There are three TVs including a large "40" flat screen in the Living room. The queen bed is a new pillow top and has wonderful support for a good nights sleep. The second "guest" bedroom has a full size murphy bed and the living room has a queen size hide a bed.
The kitchen has everything a gourmet cook could want with a new refrigerator and stove with electric flat surface. The large pantry and washer and dryer are located between the kitchen and Arizona room. There are two eating areas - one in the Arizona Room and one off the Living Room. Much of the decor is Southwest and colorful, with original artwork on the walls. The master and second bath were both remodeled in Dec. 2012 and have walk in showers. All linens are provided, just bring your toothbrush.

Other amenities include a wet bar in the Arizona Room and a computer desk in the master bedroom with WIFI internet throughout. Cable TV is expanded Cox service ( about 35 channels) and all utilities but phone are included in your rental fee. We let go of our land line phone since most renters have their own cell.

The patio has a gas grill, table with umbrella, four chairs and additional seating for just lounging in the sun. The beehive fireplace uses firewood for cozy winter nights and the Armoir holds a TV and DVD player. The carport is covered and next to the front entrance. Additional parking within 50 feet. Lots of common area with desert foliage surrounds the townhome including two giant saguaros in the front yard.

This townhome is affiliated with GVR (Green Valley Recreation).
Area Information
Desert Hills 2 located in a very quiet area on a small peninsula surrounded by desert arroyos with abundant wildlife. (Expect to see humming birds, quails, javelinas and an occasional bobcat.)

You will be less than 1/4 mile (easy walking distance) to the Desert Hills Social Center. Here you can enjoy the large outdoor heated pool, four tennis courts, Lapidary Studio, fitness room, and Ceramic arts center. Next to the social center is the Valley Presbyterian Church and Elks Club.

Canoa Hills and Canoa Ranch golf courses are within a two mile radius. Both are public courses.

The nearest shopping area is four miles north at the Continental Plaza where you will find Safeway (food store), McDonalds, TruValue Hardware, CVS, UPS, hair salons, dress shops and more. Wells Fargo Bank and the Post Office are also nearby.

Just a little further north is the Green Valley Mall where you can find restaurants and shops of all kinds. On Wednesday there is an open "farmers" market where vendors come from all over to hawk their wares. Anything and everything from fresh food and homemade tamales to handcrafted art and local specialties. It's like a flea market only a little more refined.

At the northern most shopping area of Green Valley is Duval Mine Road, about eight miles from the condo. Here you will find large stores like Walmart Super Center, Ross's, JoAnne Fabrics, Big Lots, Green Valley Cinema, Bealls, Ashley Furniture and more.

If you travel south on I-19 you will come to Tubac, an art community similar to Sedona. Shop for yourself or gifts, there is something for all tastes. Luminary weekend is in early December and the Holiday Marketplace at the Tubac Art Center runs for three weeks from late November up to Christmas.

Fantastic vacation rental

January 1, 2015

When we first planned a vacation our vacation in southern Arizona, we were thinking hotel. However, on further consideration, it seemed that a house or apartment would better suit our needs. I am so glad that I found VacationHomeRentals and the house that Karen and Tom Wolffis had available. The house was just what we needed. Plenty of room, very nicely furnished, impeccably clean and conveniently located. The neighborhood where this house is located is also quiet and the view from the patio or Arizona room encompasses a beautiful view of the Santa Rita mountains. Karen and Tom are gracious and helpful. All in all a very pleasant experience that I would highly recommend.

Great time in Green Valley!

March 22, 2014

We loved our stay in this sunny, spacious home in Green Valley. The master bedroom had a very comfortable king-sized bed with a remodelled adjoining bathroom. The inviting living room was a great place to relax in after a day of exploring. The 'Arizona room' was a bonus with patio doors leading to a large, sunny patio with an amazing view of the mountains. Staying in Green Valley is a great alternative to staying in Tucson. We loved exploring the surrounding areas - arsty Tubac, Patagonia Lake, Madeira Canyon with its wonderful hiking trails and picnic areas. The Tucson attractions are a short drive away - the Mount Lemmon scenic byway and the Desert Wildlife Museum are a must do. We would definitely stay here again!

Owner's reply:

Yes. The Arizona room is one of the condos best features with that fabulous view of the Santa Rita mountains. We are happy that your stay was everything you had hoped for in our diverse community and look forward to hosting you again.

Great view of the mountains

March 20, 2014

The place was in excellent condition and it was completely furnished. The beds were great. The kitchen had all the items we needed to be comfortable.

Owner's reply:

This is not your average condo as you have pointed out. We take pride in all the small personal touches such as colorful southwest artwork hanging on every wall to the turqoise painted kitchen with mexican style door pulls. We want to make you feel like you are living in the desert southwest every day of your vacation.

We would like to thank Karen and Tom for making our three-month vacation so relaxing and memorable with such a comfortable and beautifully decorated home. Everything we needed was furnished. Lingering memories will be sunrises over the Santa Rita Mountains; the two unexpected snowfalls that took only a day to melt; seeing the burst of spring colors of flowering plants and shrubs; and knowing that on most days the temperature difference between northern Minnesota and here was at least 70°.

Excellent experience

September 3, 2012

We rented here for 6 years (2007-2012) from January 1 to May 1 (4 months) each year. We returned every year for the mountain view from the Arizona room, good weather, nice neighbors, nearby recreation centers, convenient location, nice community and good local golf courses. The townhouse is very comfortable and clean. In March of 2012 we became owners of our own townhome about 1 mile from this property, otherwise we would be returning.

Owner's reply:

Thanks for the review Bob and Mary. We hate to see you go but look forward to seeing you and your new home soon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you allow pets?
A: As much as I love animals, (I have two cats), this is a rental unit with many different renters, some of which are allergic to animals. It would not be fair to them to rent to those who have dogs and cats since animal dander lingers long after the animal is no longer there.
Q: What makes my rental unit stand out from the others in Green Valley?
A: This end unit has a fabulous view of the Santa Rita Mountains, something everyone enjoys. I also have wood or tile flooring in all areas except the bedrooms. This makes it easy to keep clean as well as looking nice. The two bathrooms have been totally remodeled and the master has a tile walk in shower unit. My town home is decorated in colorful southwest decor with artist paintings in all the rooms which will really make you feel like you are in the Southwest.
Q: How close is the nearest recreation center?
A: The Desert Hills Social Center is less than 1/4 mile and a five minute walk from my town home. Here you can enjoy the large outdoor swimming pool, Lapidary and Ceramic Studios, four tennis courts and an exercise room. The next closest recreation center is Canoa Hills, about 2 miles south on Camino Del Sol. It also has a very nice pool, exercise room and tennis courts. Entrance to all the Social Centers (eleven in all) are included in your rental rate. You need only to pay a one time $25 fee for the time you rent to Green Valley Recreation. This fee is valid for your entire stay whether it be one week or five months. It is a per person fee.
Q: Where are the golf courses?
A: We have three public golf courses within an 8 mile radius. Canoa Ranch, Canoa Hills and Haven (near East Center).
Q: Is there hiking nearby?
A: Yes, and the best place to start is at the Madera Canyon, about a 20 minute drive from my town home. Here you can hike many trails from easy to more difficult. You can even hike up to Mt. Wrightston, about five hours round trip from the roundup parking lot in Madera Canyon. This canyon is also known for it's wide variety of birds. People come from all over the world to see the different species abundant in this canyon.
Q: How far to the nearest grocery store?
A: You are four miles from a Safeway, CVI pharmacy, True Value Hardware, Chase and Wells Fargo Banks, UPS store, various dress and shoe shops, a KFC and McDonalds not to mention other restaurants. These are located at the corner of I-19 and Continental Dr.
