Description of the Guntersville vacation cabin rental

Only 2.8 miles from our own airport and the breathtaking Gunters Landing Golf Course, hidden at the top of Buck Island, we are just around the bend.Follow our winding road to heaven. The cabin was originally an art studio for the woman who built our home down the hill from the cabin. The property is very natural, with absolutely NO grass, just woods and paths, deer, and other forest creatures. You might catch a glimpse of some of our friends from the back screened porch of your cabin early in the morning as they follow the creek bed to the cove for a cool drink of crystal clear water fed by the Tennessee River main channel just past our boat dock. The cabin is fully furnished, you need only bring your clothes and food. Full kitchen including the priorities: coffee pot, microwave, full oven and stove and a full size refrigerator. The bath has a shower/tub combination. There is cable for those who want to stay inside. The cabin is air conditioned and heated. It also has a full size washer and dryer for your use. A newly remodeled 2nd bedroom has been added and there is a Queen bed, and a Full size Futon for your convenience along with bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom that overlook the lake. We prefer you smoke on the open deck that is canelevered over the hillside. In the Fall & Winter you can watch the sun rise in the morning from the second bedroom (sunroom) or the open deck while you sip your first cup of coffee and listen as the birds softly sing you good morning.As the leaves fall, it looks like snow flakes in assorted colors...unbelievable. During Spring and Summer the foilage is so thick you'd think you were alone in the woods. Absolutely breathtaking...it's what sold us on this place. The boatdock is 1 year old and there is a full 24'boat stall that awaits you. It is on a lift and you get your stall electric door opener when you check in. We anxiously await your arrival, I promise you'll be back!

Area Description

The Guntersville Lake is over 69,000 acres that encompass most of Guntersville. In fact the city of Guntersville is considered an island in the middle of the Southern point of the lake which is near the dam. There are tons of arts and crafts shows, antiques galore, and its a great place for a motorcycle enthusiasts. Surrounded by mountains and gorgeous scenery, one can only feel peace here. Huntsville is located only 28 miles away and Birmingham is an hour's drive South of us. Lake Guntersville is famous for its large bass population if you like to fish.Or if you love Crappie and Bream, folks are always on the lake fishing for both. Crappie are some of the lightest tasting fish ever produced in fresh water. Because they are a migrational fish in nature, it is very hard to raise them in captivity. They migrate to different temperatures of water and usually follow river flow patterns during the summer. They can be found in 8'-12' of water near fallen trees, and other cover such as docks or under bridges. You will usually see people around here tied up under bridges. Chances are good they are fishing for these crepe paper thin, lipped fish. Just remember, don't jerk hard or you'll pull the hook right out! Poles are available at the dock if you don't have a boat or don't want to go out on the lake. We have great restaurants and nightclubs, including the American Legion; home to the largest American Legion Riders Club in Alabama. Karaoke is a favorite past time here just about everywhere one night or another. Lots of fun! We also have a theater company that has plays nearly every week. Great entertainment. To add to the nostalgia is a real working drive-in...located on 431 South near Boaz. Current movies are shown nightly. Most of us have fond memories of drive-in movies... don't we?

Other Vacation Rental Amenities

We also have rods & reels plus chairs if you just want to kick back and fish off of the dock. The rods and reels are $5/per day but if you mess up the line and we have to put new line on the reel, it will be an additional $5 per reel. Free Lessons available and if you're nice to the owner, she might just take you out in her boat for a while...PLEASE do NOT use the old rods and reels in the cabin. Vacation Rental Policies

Payment Options: Cashier's Check, Money Order, Personal Check
Check In: 3 p.m.
Check Out: 10 a.m.
Required Stay: Minimum of 3 days/2 night
Lodging Tax: 10%
Deposits: You must send deposit at least 5 working days before check in along with any additional non-refundable fees. If you send a personal check, allow 2 weeks for clearance.
Other Fees: $10 per person (adults & children), $50 per animal deposit, non-refundable. Rods and reels are available for $15/day. If you mess up the line, there will be an additional $5 fee to put new line on the spool. If you break the rod, there will be a $50 fee for the rod. But there are free casting lessons available, and if you're lucky, I'll take you out in my bass boat for awhile, but ya'll better be nice or you'll have to swim back (LOL, Just kiddin')

We had a lovely relaxing Memorial Day trip at this little Cabin in the Woods. The owners are friendly and outgoing without being intrusive. There is a beautiful cove with a boathouse if your have a need for the "boat garage". The screened in porch lets you enjoy the outdoors bugfree! Great place for a young family or just a couple to get away.

My wife and I had a great trip. The cabin was great and clean. Use of the boat house was great. Rate was less than Hampton Inn and with use of the boat house was good value. This is a great place if you come to fish, sleep and eat. That's what we were there for. Small kitchen if you want to do your own cooking, we didn't we were on vacation. Thank for a great stay.

We decided to have a family get together at the lake last weekend and chose this cabin. It' was great, it had everything that you would need for a weekend getaway. It was very clean and the owners where very friendly. It had a beautiful view of the sun rise from the back porch and the lake is only a few steps down the hill. If you have a boat there is a boat house in the cove that you can dock at, and the state park is just across the lake.
