Description of the Hancock Point vacation cottage rental

This cozy cottage on wonderful Hancock Point offers a beautiful view from the cottage or from its beach. The beach, one of the best on the Point, offers giant rocks for sitting and a large expanse at low tide for seeking beach glass or sunbathing, as well as a "bath tub" that nature built nestled in the big rocks -- great for little children to dip their feet in.

The cottage itself, with it's high ceiling and loft, feels open and friendly. The large living room with beautiful views gives onto a sunporch, great for watching for lobster boats and enjoying meals.

There are two bedrooms downstairs, both with double beds, as well as two double beds in the loft, a favorite area with kids. The bathroom with it's original claw foot tub is modern and bright. The kitchen is well equipped and functional.

Area Information

Located in Hancock Point, this cottage is in a truly idyllic location. Tennis is a block away, for a fee. One can kayak off the cottage shore, and sailing takes off from the local dock. The view is of Acadia National Park across Frenchman's Bay. Hancock Point has a wonderful library, a chapel, and an inn. There are wonderful views all around from the roads that follow the shoreline.

Heavenly and comfortable

This is a somewhat rustic cottage in a charming, low-key oceanfront community. It has a gorgeous view, even better than the pictures here. The house is not high-end but has all the essentials and is very comfortable and cozy. It's "just right." I've rented it several summers and only wish I could do so again this year.

Wonderful Cottage

This property is a real cottage. It's not fancy or equipped with high-end amenities. Rather, it is a step away from the hustle and chaos of urban, professional life. The view is spectacular. The wind wafts through the open windows scented with the salt and pine aromas that permeate the Point. It is the southern most house on the point and it is beautiful. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen more than adequate. If you are lucky, the fish man will deliver to your door. Tennis and sailing opportunities for children and adults alike are within walking distance. The ocean rises and falls, lapping gently and invitingly at the cliff base. It's cold but you can swim in the crystalline waters if you are brave. Dogs are welcome and enjoy lazing in the sun, chasing chipmunks and insects, swimming and walking. The community is present in a friendly and open way. We will definitely be returning.
