Description of the Hautefort vacation cottage rental

Your gite is located 2km from the dramatic Chateau de Hautefort on a quiet semi-private single lane road, nestled amongst the quite calm of the countryside, in an enclave of 18th century stone perigordian farmhouses. It enjoys a magnificent valley view. The Pool, Jacuzzi, and sundeck, with lounge chairs and table, are situated in the 6-acre orchard, surrounded by grass, trees and flowers.
La Petite Rose House is a 1 bedroom Stone Farmhouse, built in the mid 1700s. It has a large fireplace in the livingroom, along with a sofa sleeper. Adjacent is the fully equipped kitchen. The 1 bedroom is up 4 stairs and has large windows for lots of light and views of the gardens and countryside.

Outside your gite is the pool with sundeck, lounge chairs, dining terrace, BBQ, all enjoying the magnificent view. The property offers, ping-pong, badminton/volleyball, hammocks, crocket, children?s play area with swing set, and open space to run.

It is a great bicycling and walking area with rolling hillsides and gorgeous forest and valley views. All services are within walking distance down a tranquil country lane past grazing cows: 1 km to boulangerie, grocery store, and bank. 2 km to tabac, post office, and the office of tourism. 2.5km to a swimming lake.

Area Description

The spectacular Chateau de Hautefort is a 17th century castle famous for its architecture and splendid French and English gardens. The local villages of Hautefort and St Agnan provide all the necessary services, and are set amongst the peaceful countryside of hills, lakes, rivers, forests, and farms.
Only a short drive away are many famous historic, prehistoric, and tourist sites. The many grottes(caves) like Lascaux and , Troglodyte sites, Bastille towns, Castles, Medieval villages: Perigueux, Les Eyzies (Cro-Magnon man) and Sarlat are all within a radius of 40 miles.

The area offers many sports: swimming, hiking, biking, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, croquet; 1 km: basketball, tennis, soccer, bocce, fishing. Canoeing the local river or the bigger Dordogne river, past many medieval castles. Nearby are horseback riding and golf. And the children always enjoy the par course (ropes in trees).

Experience the renowned food in the Perigord: black truffles, canard, pate de fois gras, cepes, with many good restaurants in the area. Wine regions of Bergerac & Bordeaux are only 1 to 1.5 hours away.
