Beautiful grounds, spacious home, relaxing hottub
March 24, 2013
From the moment we turned onto the property we were amazed. The grounds with the Bird of Paradise in bloom! And the wild turkeys that would strut around every day. The back patio with hottub, plenty of opportunity to lounge, the orchids and ancient lava rocks and tools. The house itself is so spacious and beautifully furnished. We felt like plantation owners. The kitchen had everything we needed to create meals and smacks. There is a wonderful gas grill on the patio, with a pass-through to the kitchen for ease! The dining room is so beautifully decorated we found ourselves eating there instead of the kitchen bar. Wreless internet for our iPad and iPhone and TV reception was very good (Dish) on a modern TV, with comfortable sofa and chairs in living room - plenty to read, too. Master bedroom and bath had elegant linens which we enjoyed, and a large window onto the front grounds. You are totally secluded and private, no passersby, no one can view you here from the road or even the other home on the estate. The second bedroom overlooks e back patio and is furnished in a sea glass green, very Hawaiian, very romantic - would also be great for a girl or teen. All the rooms had lots of windows and good screens. We were able to enjoy the trade winds and the smells of the tropical gardens without flies or mosquitoes. Only suggestion I can make is bring an alarm clock if you will need to get ip for a flight or appointment - we didn't find one in the house. We went into Hawi every day (5 minute trip) to the shops, restaurants, market, and had an amazing time. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Don't forget to drive up the coast to the tip - spectacular ocean view. And drive the mountain road into town as we did to view one of the island's oldest volcanoes. You're minutes from Waimea and from good snorkeling. Took us about 1 hr to Kona airport. We were able to relax so easily here and enjoyed our stay so much, it was hard to leave. Yes, there were a few tree roaches and one centipede that we discovered during our stay - but the house must have a great pest control program because they were already dead when we found them. So please don't let any fears of bugs stop you from enjoying this beautifully built, gracious estate home. We will definitely be back, and soon, and for a much longer stay! Thank you, Rita!
