Description of the Highlands vacation home rental

This mountain home is charming and cozy and a true walk to town just two blocks from Main Street. The downstairs suite has a separate entrance which makes this home ideal for two couples to share the cost of a great getaway! The downstairs was professionally decorated (Furniture South in Highlands) and features ebony stained pine wood floors and mountain motif furnishings. The den area includes two twin beds and nightstands with bear lamps,loveseat with a braided rug and antique trunk coffe table, armoire with T.V. and plants and pictures galore! There is a full bath and laundry room/kitchenette with a full size washer and dryer and a small refrigerator and coffee pot.
The upstairs of this home is nestled in the trees and offers a large bedroom with a king size bed and a newly remodeled bath with a brand new stone shower and floor. The ceilings througout the upstairs are tongue and groove wood and include ceiling fans in both the living room and bedroom. The kitchen is open and well equipped and has a breakfast bar with stools so you can watch the chef at work. The living/dining room has a wood burning stove and an overstuffed recliner that will guarantee you a nap or two in total tranquility! There are french doors in the living room that lead to a wrap around deck where you will feel like you are living in the trees amongst abounding nature! There is also a downstairs deck with a swing where you can relax and listen to the creek across the lane in the Nantahala National Forest. The yard is fenced and is ideal for bringing along the family pet. The outdoor stone fireplace is perfect for enjoying an evening fire and a glass of wine! You will not find a more relaxing mountain getaway with the convenience of being two blocks from Main St. and thirty yards from the Greenway Trail!

Area Description

The home is in the Town and Country community and six houses from the new Bascom Art Center. It offers great access to Main St. and is situated across the road from the entrance to the Greenway Trail in the Nantahala National Forest. When sitting on the deck you feel like you are away from it all but yet you are only a stone's throw away from a walking trail that will take you to town! Highlands North Carolina has an elevation of over 4,100 feet and is a bird sanctuary and a popular vacation spot.

Highlands is well known for it's fine dining. You have more than a dozen restaurants that you can drive to in under five minutes!
