Description of the Hillsboro vacation cottage rental
Located 1 hour 15 minutes from Cincinnati / 1.5 hours from Dayton & less than 2 hours from Columbus. This cottage was redone in 2010 and offers 3 bedrooms & 1 bath on a private, quiet circular street (Mountain View Drive). The amenities include a full kitchen, family room w/32" LCD w/Direct TV, enclosed patio room and laundry room with washer & dryer. Bedroom #1 has Queen bed, Bedroom #2 has 2 twin beds, and Bedroom #3 has 2 twin beds. Sleeps 6 comfortably. House sits on a 3 acre wooded lot with walking trail down to the lake. Serene and secluded 2,000 acre lake is great for fishing, hunting, swimming, water sports, hiking and biking.

The cottage was really nice. The property was clean and well stocked with towels, blankets, pillows and even kitchen spices. The only two bad things I have to say is that the grill is very old and only half of it would work and it was very rusty (some parts of the grill were rusted through) and poorly maintained. The other is that they cut the grass during our party and right before it rained which made it almost impossible for us to clean up after ourselves because the second we walked out to the car and came back in there was nothing but grass everywhere.

Amy, Thanks for your valuable feedback! The Weber Grill was inadvertently left outside all winter and took a beating. We are in the process of replacing with a brand new grill. I have spoken with the folks in charge of cutting the grass. They were supposed to cut the grass on Thursday but got behind schedule due to all the rainfall. They have been instructed to hold off next time. We do apologize and will discount your next stay.

Great location for the areas' many recreational opportunities such as wildflower hiking at the Arc of Appalachia & Fort Hill and kayaking that our group did. The house offers comfortable accommodations for relaxing also. Would definitely recommend staying here.

This was a very relaxing home.I felt it had everything we needed,Do not hesitate if you are thinking about coming to this beautiful area.Once you are inside there is total silence.The wifi works great since I had to do some work and the country setting was all that it was built up to be.

Wonderful Rocky Fork Escape

The cottage was perfect - we had a group of 5 - 2 adults and 3 teenagers. We had plenty of room, and good access to the lake. We especially enjoyed the enclosed porch and fire pit. The property management was outstanding. The gentleman located a dock space for us and brought over tools for us to use when our boat broke down! Would highly recommend this cottage and the folks managing it.

Awesome Family Retreat!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rocky Fork Lake. The house was very nicely furnished and roomy. We have 4 children and there was plenty of room to roam in the spacious back yard. It was very close to the lake and boat rentals. Bart and Randy were very nice and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this house to friends and relatives.

Our stay at the Mountainview cottage was great. The house is much more spacious than it appears in the photos and easily accommodated our group of six people with plenty of room to spare. Bart was excellent to work with and was quick to grant our request to check-in early. The boat dock is a short walk down the road and down the hill to shore - - but it beats paying to dock at the marina or pulling the boat out every evening. The house was clean, well maintained and stocked with towels, linens and a full kitchen . The yard is very private, though we weren’t able to spend much time out there because of the record heat, but the air conditioning works GREAT. No complaints!

Wonderful Cottage on the Lake

My family & I had a wonderful time at this cottage. The cottage was very clean & spacious. The path down to the lake through the woods is so pretty & we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the backyard. This was a nice place for a little rest & relaxation. Bart was wonderful to work with & very accomodating. We look forward to visiting again.

Very Peaceful Getaway

Let me begin by saying that working with Bart was a pleasure. Throughout the rental process communication was excellent and the pricing was very reasonable. The house was exactly as described and we really needed nothing but food. Bring towels and sheets if using your own makes you comfortable, but everything was provided and clean. The location is very quiet and easily accessible. Getting to the lake is within walking distance but we found it much better to drive the short distance to one of the many lakefront areas. To be completely fair to those who read these reviews, as we did, the house could have used a dehumidifier. There was a pronounced moisture odor and feel upon our arrival. Turning on the air conditioner for the duration of our stay definitely helped alleviate the issue. In short we were comfortable, relaxed, felt safe and would definitely stay here again.
Owner's reply:
Because this property was booked (6984 Mtn View Drive) Zeldon stayed at a second property we own on the street to accomodate him. Because we closed this house up in September and and did not have a chance to open it up before his stay in mid-October, there was a moisture odor. This odor goes away once you open the house up. This house sits down a hill and in the woods which lends to this issue when we close it up for the season. We have not experienced any moisture issues at 6984 Mountain View Drive.

"I loved it! The description is exactly how it is. It is very very clean, and well maintained! Bart was easily willing to accomidate to our needs.A very nice guy.It is private. There is neighbors but everyone is so nice, and quite. We brought extra things, not knowing if there would be enough. Not once did we have to use the things we brought! All you need is food, everything else is provided! I would go back there any day. There is so much to do around the lake. Swimming is only a few miles up the road, there is hiking everywhere along with inside the woods behind the house. If your an outside person, this is for you. There is a sun room that is amazing! so peaceful. I rate it A++++ "

I must say this was a wonderful weekend retreat, Bart the owner was just as accommodating as he could be, if you needed anything extra he would go the extra mile.
