Antiques, elegance, history . . . .From the moment you walk through the door you are back in the early 1900's.Historic Hinton Manor is located in the quaint, historic railroad village of Hinton, West Virginia, home of the Bluestone Dam and Lake, and the legendary John Henry, the steel drivin' man. This is a very unique and different vacation home, rich with a personal history and decorated with beautiful period antiques. The home is offered to couples only as a romantic retreat. Pipestem Resort and Bluestone State Park with golf, horseback riding, swimming, great dining, fishing and hiking trails abound. The world-famous Greenbrier Resort and Casino is within a short drive, as is historic Lewisburg, just named #1 Coolest Small Town in America! Also not far from Hinton is Mountain Lake, where scenes from movie Dirty Dancin' were filmed. Whitewater rafting, float trips down the Greenbrier or New River, zip line tours, Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, Lost World Caves and Caverns, and many other outdoor activities available. Amtrak runs through historic Hinton, West Virginia 3 times per week. Hinton, West Virginia, is a small town that is situated in the mountains and valleys of the New River gorge. The area is breathtakingly beautiful! We rent by the night (2 night minimum required) or by the week only (2-week limit). No smoking and no pets are allowed in this vacation rental. Everything furnished, all you need is what you plan to eat and wear!

West Virginia is home to those famous feuding families:The Hatfields and McCoys.During the summer months, Theatre West Virginia performs an outdoor drama depicting the famous feud. The small town of Hinton is a quaint, historic railroad village overlooking the beautiful New River. It is that small town just off the beaten path! There is a Railroad museum, Veterans Museum, a collection of historic buildings and homes that one can enjoy while strolling through the National Historic District. There is a small theater, post office, restaurant/deli, and a handful of small shops within walking distance of the vacation home. One can venture across the New River Bridge where a spectacular view of the mountains and valleys are awaiting your photograph. Sandstone Falls along the New River Gorge National River segment, and the site of a Lassie movie, is a short drive from the vacation home. Pipestem Resort with stables/horseback riding, golf, restaurants, pools, and many other amenities is closeby as is Bluestone State Park, the Bluestone Wildlife Management area, and many hiking, biking trails. The legend of John Henry, the steel-drivin' man, springs to life when you visit his monument and the actual tunnel he so famously worked on in Talcott. You can drive up to the tunnel and view the site of this amazing feat, where he beat the machine with his mighty strength! The Graham House, c. 1775 the oldest home in West Virginia and attacked by Shawnee Indians, is open for tours on weekends May 31-October at Lowell, just a short drive up Rt. 12 toward Alderson. Continuing on this route, you will pass by the the famous Alderson Women's Correctional Center (for a short time, home to Martha Stewart!) Whitewater rafting or a scenic float down the New or Greenbrier River is a relaxing way to spend your afternoon. Fishing and canoeing is also available along the Greenbrier, New and Bluestone Rivers. This is a great place to "get lost" while out for a scenic drive along the many off roads through the mountains of southern West Virginia. Historic sites, caves and caverns, and a taste of the simple life await your discovery in historic Hinton and Summers County, West Virginia!

Day trips are the New River Gorge Bridge, site of the bungee-jumping Chevy commercial, The Greenbrier Resort and Casino, visited by celebrities and very posh, historic Lewisburg (recently voted #1 Coolest Small Town in America) and filled with antique shops, great restaurants, civil war history, Lost World Caverns (Lewisburg), Tamarack Arts & Crafts Center (the best of West Virginia), Theatre West Virginia outdoor dramas (Hatfields & McCoys), Zip Line and Canopy tours in the New River Gorge, the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, the Princeton Devil Rays and Bluefield Blue Jays minor league baseball, and much, much more!
