See it for yourself, everyone has different needs

May 18, 2012

Three bedroom cabin nicely secluded, privacy, no internet ,poor cell phone talking reception. "Can you hear me now?" There is a private home phone for local calls, didn't try it. one TV (Dish) in living room, kitchen small but OK for us., good coffee pot and water, saw only one cooking pot ( teflon?) all scratched up and peeling, after that didn't look at skillets. Steping stones awkward going up to cabin, big step up to get into cabin, hard for our back issues, Nice deck with picnic table, hot tub, gas fireplace, and air conditioning, Very tiny yard, we didn't go into woods, pond ok, caught 2 tiny fish, put them back for you.. Got a good yellow jacket sting in yard!. Not far to pharmacy, stores and places to eat. Nice for 2 days, most likely we wouldn't go back. Does not meet our financial needs or health needs at this time.Lady renting very nice on phone.

Perfect Getaway

June 27, 2011

We had a fabulous time at the cabin. The cabin was pet friendly and quite a perfect fit for us! It was very clean with new appliances and beautiful finished wood throughout to go with the cabin feel. Everything was nice and close to the area. Hocking Hills is beautiful and we had a wonderful time revisiting on our 8 year anniversary.

Dirty, depressing, and disappointing...

April 2, 2011

We have stayed at several cabins in Hocking Hills, and this has by far been the worst cabin experience we have encountered. From just pulling up we were disappointed. The pictures and description on their website give the impression that the cabin is secluded, yet it is right on a busy road. There is nothing relaxing about soaking in a hot tub and watching cars race down the road. Upon entering, we were even more disappointed. The walls were dirty, there were water stains on the ceiling, mildew in the hamper, rusty baseboards, cobwebs in almost every corner, wallpaper missing from fixtures being changed, gaps in the wood trim, dirty dusty fake plants, etc. The "2nd" bedroom is basically just a mudroom that they put a bed in: super tiny, there was no heating in this room, just a space heater, so the tile floors were extremely cold, and the room was completely uninviting (dirty and dead bugs along the edge of the wall). Needless to say, our children had to sleep on the futon because we were not about to make them sleep in this room. The hot tub water was murky and smelled funny, the beds were completely uncomfortable, all of the blinds were yellowed and dirty (some broken) and we were overall just completely disappointed that we had to spend our spring break in this cabin. We left some pictures at Trip Advisor's website if you are interested.

Our stay at the Hickory Grove Lake View Cabin was wonderful. The entire family had a great time. The cabin location is central to all of the main attractions. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the kids loved the fishing pond.
