Description of the Homosassa vacation home rental

This upstaris home was built with local cedar wood both inside and out. Convenienty located near groceries, post office and eateries. The home is surrounded by centruy old oak trees. There are Two beds in the bedroom,One queen and one double, with double sized Flexsteel sofa sleeper in the living area. One bath with shower has two sinks set into a beautiful copper countertop created by a local artist. Kitchen comes complete with dishwasher. Fireplaces (one with candles the other with electric log & flame) in both the living and bed room and skylights thruout. A large outdoor deck looks over the wooded rear of the property. A canal behind the property takes you to the Homosassa River and the Gulf of Mexico. Dockage for your boat available at no extra charge. Boat rental and tour company located next door with a live alligator exhibit, working pottery studio in front of the property and glass artists retail shop on the bottom floor. Peaceful and interesting area.

Area Information

Old Homosassa is a Waterfronts Florida Community made up of a number of resturants, marinas, small hotels and shops.
Originally known for its excellent fishing and hunting, this small community continues to draw people all ages and all walks of life to it. The Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park is located nearby and is a place everyone should see. The boat tour and rental company (RiverSafaris) is located next door and provides airboat rides, pontoon boat tours and boat rentals. There are many hiking, biking, birding, canoe and kayak trails. Tampa and Orlando are both about 75 miles away with parkways that make access easy and quick. Manatees are gathered in our springs area during the winter and people come from all over the world to swim with them from November thru April. Scalloping (like hunting Easter eggs under the water) season is from June 25 thru Sept 25. The freshwater springs of the Homosassa River provide a swimming area that stays 72 degrees year round.

Great place / Great people

I believe I forgot to write a review from last summer. This place and the people were the best. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, look elsewhere. If you want a cool house that seems like a treehouse where the people treat you like a friend, this IS the place. From when we first arrived until the minute we left it was like visiting old friends. Very roomy house with a full kitchen as well as a gas grill on the deck for cooking up some fresh scallops. Having the pontoons rentals right there was a big plus as you do not have to pack up the car to go to a marina. My kids and I had a blast using the free kayaks and drifting out to Monkey Island. I am already planning this summer's getaway and we will be returning. Thank yo for a great time.

Great Vacation in the Treehouse

This was our second stay in the treehouse. We stayed four great nights. We rented a pontoon boat from the marina/property owner for scalloping and fishing. The unit is very comfortable and full of character. The kitchen has all the equipment you need. Beds are comfortable and the wrap around porch is so relaxing. The staff is wonderful! They go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. We plan on returning in January for a manatee swim weekend and will stay in the treehouse again.

This is by far our best vacation value. We love the community of Old Homossasa. The Tree House is roomy and the staff could not be more friendly. The Tree House provides everything you need to stay a few nights, a week, or even a month! All you need to buy are groceries, if you like to cook on your vacation. The newly installed appliances are wonderful to work with. There are also wonderful restaurants close by and the Homosassa River is just a few blocks down the street. We also like the Tree House because you can get away from the "party" atmosphere that abounds at the hotels that are on the river. The Tree House also provides free, wireless internet service. It's clean and very comfortable. We would not hesitate to recommend the Tree House to any of our family and friends. Give it a try and find out why!

Just stayed there on opening weekend of scallop season this year.... had 4 adults and 4 kids.... The staff and deck hands were great , helped show us were to put everything including two boats we had.. the use of the ramp was clutch and the fact that you are allowed open acces to the ramp was great... The facilities on site were immaculate from the house to the grounds.. We are staying again july 15th weekend and can not wait.... also thinking on booking again for august weekends...

A really good value for your dollar. I was there by myself but this place will easily accomodate 6. Big rooms, great deck, full kitchen etc and near the water. Lots of water-based activities nearby. You can't go wrong with the TreeHouse.

We had a great time at the Tree House. Everyone at River Safari's was friendly, along with the other surrounding businesses. Loved the use of kayaks to go see the friendly manatees and had fun on an airboat tour. Great location to walk down the street to see Monkey Island, local bars and restaurants. (We highly recommend the little BBQ place across the street, it was homemade to die for smoked meats and fish!!!) This was just what we were looking for in our trip. A quiet, comfortable place, with the needed amenities, friendly people, and simple place to relax and get away from it all. :-)

Our Scalloping Trip

Couldn't have been more pleased with the Treehouse and all the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The house was immaculate and perfectly suited for the 4 of us. The boat ramp was the icing on the cake. It was nice not having to battle all those folks at the public ramp. Thanks to all who made our weekend a great one. We'll definately be back next year.
