Stunning view; Awesome House

If you want a stunning view; great accommodations; and a central location then we recommend this vacation home. We came to Hoonah to visit our daughter and grandchildren and spent a week visiting and immersing ourselves in the local activities and culture. The spacious front porch that overlooked the Harbor and Frederic Sound was the perfect place to hang out and enjoy the sunshine. Our daughter was able to watch her children from the porch as they fished off the dock or jumped in the water for a chilly dip,. We could walk to the docks and purchase fresh seafood, crab, halibut, and salmon or just chat with the local fishermen. The house has numerous windows that provided a view of the water; docks; or flowers growing up the side of the hill. We found pleasure in watching the water activity throughout the day; fishing boats coming and going; seaplanes landing; groups of kayaker’s paddling by; eagles soaring above; and other sea life. It was an easy walk to the local café’s and gift shops or to the local grocery store. Everyone is friendly in Hoonah and we were very interested in learning about the Tlingit culture that they are revitalizing. If you desire to enjoy SE Alaska, Hoonah on Chichagof Island, is “real” with its mix of the Tlingit people and local Fisherman living life at a leisurely pace. The house was very clean and well stocked especially the kitchen. It had all the necessities of a complete kitchen with modern appliances and even a pot big enough to boil our crab. The instant hot water of the propane tank was a nice feature and having a washer and dryer a plus. The owners put a lot of thought into the house to make it comfortable and spacious. There are plenty of beds upstairs to accommodate quests and a large master bedroom. We plan to rent this house again the next time we visit our daughter and her family.

Guestbook

You will not want to leave, that is how I feel every time I go there. Very low key. You can have your morning coffee in front of the big widows or on the deck. You will see whales out your window and fishing boat landing and taking off. The eagles will fly by you, you can almost reach out and touch them. The house is fully stocked this is our second home and soon to be our retirement home. Just think of it Fishing, crabing, bear watching, I Like It. Deborah
