Description of the Houghton Lake vacation cottage rental
This is a 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathroom heated cottage. It also has a fireplace. It is located on a dead end road with no through traffic. There is 30' of waterfront to dock your boat.
There are a dozen golf courses, priced very affordably within 20 minutes of the cottage for your golfing holiday. We are conveniently located very close to shopping, restaurants, video rentals, and the movie theater. Tanger Outlet Shopping Centre is located 25 minutes from the cottage in West Branch, Michigan. There is a Wal-Mart Super Center and Home Depot literally minutes away.
Our cottage is fully furnished and sleeps a maximum of 9 in 1 queen, 1 double, 3 single beds and 1 double pull out couch.
The cottage has a well equipped kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, and coffee maker.
The cottage comes with bedding, dish towels and bath towels.
The cottage has a TV/VCR/DVD (no cable) and a CD player for your viewing and listening pleasure. Books and magazines for your reading pleasure. Should you have a rainy day (or just want a lazy day) there is a Playstation 2 with games and a separate tv in the sun room plus a TV with DVD player in the master bedroom.
In addition, the cottage will include some children's toys and various games and cards.
Outside you will find a fire pit to enjoy evening camp fires by the water. As well as Horse shoe pits and a 2 person paddle boat. Cottage comes with a Propane Barbecue. We have added a back patio (not shown in pictures) with patio furniture. As well there are bikes of various sizes you are welcome to use.

We do not accept bookings of more than 9 people.
We do not allow cats (allergy).
We permit groups to bring one (1) boat with them to be tied at the dock.

This cottage is the perfect place to get away, relax, have fun, and make memories that will last a lifetime! Our family has three children from 3-10 years old and they each had so much fun! Boating, swimming, fishing, going on the paddle boat, watching movies on the couch, visiting Funland (go-karts, kid rides, arcade), taking in a movie at the Pines Theatre, shopping, mini-golfing, biking, riding the scooter, cooling off with some ice cream...wow we did a lot! Fireworks lit up the night sky and were a pleasure to watch during our sunset boat cruise each night we were there! The cottage left a lot of space for the kids to have their places to play and for the grown-ups to enjoy some quiet time too! The cottage is on a quiet road that is perfect for the kids to bike, scooter, roller blade, or play road hockey. The lake was so warm and a great way to spend the summer days...remember to use a lot of sunscreen!!! The sandbar was perfect since it provided a lot of fun for the kids to run and play and throw a ball. The middle of the lake was warm enough and a lot of fun for jumping off the boat. Even the radio station (97.5 KLT) provided a great mix of music for all of us to enjoy! Our family would highly recommend visiting this cottage, touring the channels, enjoying the lake, reconnecting with your family, and enjoying all that the area has to offer.

Our stay on Ottawa Lane was perfect! The ease of renting was great. We gathered my husband's siblings for the whole week from several states. It was a special time for them, as they've not done this before. The owners were very fast to respond to questions and welcomed them. Great Set-Up for Small Group

The property is located directly on the series of canals of Houghton Lake. Great fishing directly off the dock; enjoyed use of paddleboat. Property owner was fantastic with which to deal. Enjoyed both the deck and the sun room, which had floor-to-ceiling sliding doors with screens on three sides. Nice size dining room and kitchen. We had three adults staying in the rental, which worked out great. If had 5-8 adults in the group, not sure if would select. Sleeping arrangements favor larger numbrs of people if some (or most) are kids with some adults. Air conditioning unit is in living room and cooled common areas nicely. To really cool the bedrooms, you need strategic fan placement and open bedroom doors. Temperature should be fine, unless you are present in the heat of the summer and have members of your party that need cool temps to sleep. Great selection of games and DVDs at guests' disposal; limited selection of books. Good internet connection on my Blackberry (Verizon), but friends with iPhones with 3G / Edge network complained about connection and had problems sending texts or e-mails with photo attachments. Super close to Walmart for groceries / supplies (

Absolutely wonderful cottage! Spacious and clean with all the amenities. The best part is the location on the canal....you can sit and relax in the morning with your cup of coffee or at night by the fire with a glass of wine watching the boats pass. We will definitely be back!

Solid place for the price

Great location -- cottage was on a canal, but very close to lake. The major sandbar where most of the people congregate on the lake is just around the bend - perfect for any watercraft. The owners were very helpful and responsive.

Lovely get away on the channel..close to everything, shopping and great restaurants...easy access to Houghton Lake by way of the canal. Wish there had been cable for wireless..would have been more convenient to use computer/iPad in front of the fire or on the waterfront.

What a Nice Place to Be

We spent a weekend at this cottage. It is surprisingly spacious, and had pretty much all of the amenities of home, with plenty of room for our son to play (indoors and out). We enjoyed local outdoor activities, and when it got a bit too chilly we watched movies on the big screen HDTV! Lots of good restaurants in the area as well. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone.
