Huron OH Lakefront Home & Private Beach

This beautifully landscaped waterfront home is located on the shore of Lake Erie between the cities of Huron and Vermilion. Our home sits atop a grassy hillside that slopes to our private and secluded 200 foot wide sandy beach. You can swim in the warm shallow waters, or just wade out hundreds of feet on the sandy lake bottom. Two kayaks are available for your use. The sunsets are awesome, and on a clear night the stars are clear and bright. A small beach fire is permitted at night and the firewood is provided.

Just a few feet above the private beach, and tucked into the hillside, is a cozy shade deck surrounded by ivy-covered trees. This beach deck has 2 adirondak chairs, a round table and 5 chairs. There is a large sun deck higher up in the middle of the professionally landscaped hillside. The sundeck has a motorized 10 x 16 foot awning that converts this middle deck into a large shade deck if desired. 2 Bistro tables and 4 high chairs and a 2-burner grill make this middle deck a great outdoor dining area overlooking the beach and lake.

There are three additional sitting areas, two are on top of the hillside, and one is on the west end of the landscaped hillside, about 6 feet above the beach. Adirondack chairs are on the decks and sitting areas. Everyday, you will likely see a wide variety of birdlife, including Blue Herons, Bald Eagles, White Egrets, gulls, geese, ducks and Turkey Buzzards. A century old lilac tree (bush) holds many feeders which attract colorful songbirds. Bring your binoculars!

The rental unit of our home is an attached "in-law" suite that is on the east side of the main house with 2 private entrances: a kitchen door on the back deck and sliding glass doors on the front deck. It has a loft bedroom with a queen bed facing the lake. The lower level has a full bath, full kitchen, dining area with lake views, sunken living room with a leather couch, separate sleeper sofa, rocking chair, cable flat screen TV, Blueray DVD player, Sony Stereo, WIFI internet and piano. Wired Internet is available anywhere on the property where there is an electrical outlet, including all 4 decks. There are 2 decks directly attached to the rental unit. The front deck faces the lake and has a well maintained hot tub for your enjoyment. The back deck is a 2-level deck that has a view of the lake, table with 6 chairs and umbrella, deck furniture, a small electric grill, and a large Weber grill. The back deck is shaded by three tri-color beach trees, a magnolia tree, and a variety of colorful roses, perennials, and annuals.

This guest suite unit is best suited for a couple since there is only 1 queen bed in the loft. However, one or two children could be accomodated on the sleeper sofa.

No smoking or pets are allowed. However, we do have cats on our side that are friendly to guests.

The main house dates back to 1820 and was totally restored and remodeled in 1982 by the current owners. The guest suite addition was completed in 1994. The front of the house faces the lake due to a main east-west road between the house and the shore that washed away in the 1800s. Lt. Robert E. Lee visited the house in 1835 when he was a 28 year old engineer for the Army.

Our house is located in a rural area between the cities of Huron and Vermilion, OH. The Cedar Point amusement park is clearly visible from the house and is about 20 minutes away by car. There is a fun "Key West style" local bar and a motel a short walk from the house.
